After his sister’s tragic death, elementary school principal Remington James is left to raise his five-year-old niece, Gemma, who suffers from a minor speech impediment. Unfortunately, the best speech pathologist in New England also happens to be the man who broke his heart, Rem’s ex-boyfriend, Declan.
Speech pathologist Declan O’Toole is brought in to Little Wonders Montessori School to work with Gemma on her speech issue. Declan lives with the regret of letting Remington walk out of his life two years ago, and he hopes his time spent helping Rem’s niece might repair some of the past damage to their relationship.
Drawn together by their mutual desire to help Gemma, both men can’t help but wonder what might have been. Gemma resents Rem’s new place in her life but absolutely adores Declan. The men band together to help Gemma settle into her new life, all the while, fighting the simmering attraction pulling them back toward each other.
Will Remington and Declan find a way to come back together and be the fathers Gemma so desperately needs, or will their stubbornness keep them from the happiness they all deserve?
Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.
In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.
Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.
Don't miss Pandora’s seductive new novel coming soon to an e-reader near you.
A Little Love is the second book in the Reading, Writing, and Romance series. You don't have to read book 1 to enjoy this one but the main couple from book 1 does have a role in this book, as well as other secondary characters from book 1.
Remington (Remy) James and Declan (Dec) O'Toole were lovers and best friends for over 2 years when they broke up because Remy thought Declan was cheating on him and wouldn't give him a chance to explain.
After the death of his sister, Remy is raising his niece but the going is rough; Gemma isn't adjusting well after her mother's death and blames Remy. When Gemma's doctor recommends Declan as a speech therapist for her lisp, Remy knows that it's time to finally listen to the only man he's ever loved.
Wow, this book really had my emotions all over the place and I loved it. I laughed and I cried and wanted to knock Remy and Dec's heads together and tell them to wake up! There is so much love in this story and parts are maybe a little on the cheesy side – but I love cheese and sometimes I just want to read a book where I don't have to worry about the outcome; I know Pandora Pine is going to deliver an HEA even if it's a rough road to get there.
I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Pandora's books are normally 5 star reads for me. I had to deduct ½ star on this one because there were a few too many typos / incorrect usage (you're when it should have been your and vice versa). There were also a few editing problems but none of these things affected my enjoyment of the story and I will definitely be reading more of her books.
Very cute addition to this series, in this one we have Remy, who gained guardianship over his niece Gemma after losing his sister. That was tough for both of them, of course it would be. Gemma is angry and doesn't understand why her mommy left and why she's got to live with the Uncle she loves so much but is so mad at. Grief is hard, especially for kids, who don't know how to express their sadness or confusion. I felt for both of them... because they both needed help. That help came in the form of Remy's ex and speech therapist, Declan.
Declan and Remy had a bad falling out that was really a giant misunderstanding that could've and should've been cleared up if Remy had just pulled his head out and talked to Declan. Matter of fact, all of their problems through this whole entire book could've been solved if they'd just stopped being so stubborn and talked to one another. I wanted to throat punch them both, more than once. But, that's life, and I'm very much the same way, so I can't say it isn't extremely relateable. They were both petty and proud and it lead to more heartbreak and hurt feelings.
A little family vacay with the other guys from the last story, as well as Ben and Knox, everything seemed to get worked out and I thought, finally... These rotten boys are getting their heads together... BUT, then Dec goes and thinks one thing while Remy thinks another and instead of talking to each other, they walk away from each other....AGAIN! I hated it for Gemma because she was stuck in the middle of everything and I knew how much she loved both men....and that sucked because she was so mad at Remy for and she was just getting over that and accepting that that would be her new family and then Dec leaves. Grrrrr.....
Then, the unthinkable happens and theirs an accident and has everyone realizing how much they love each other and how badly they all wanna be a family...so I can't say it ends badly, because we do get our HEA and I thought it was so sweet....even though I wanted to knock Remy out again towards the end for being such a jerk! Things do eventually get worked out and I was happy about it. I'm really looking forward to Ben and Knox's story. I hope they help little Milo and I hope Ben gets to learn what it is about Knox that has him the way that he is and I hope he can just accept him and love him because I just know he's going to break my heart. Can't wait for that :)
I didn't read the first book in this series, as I'm really over the whole villainous ex and a lot of the reviews indicated that that's what I'd be in for. But, this one seemed interesting, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a huge fan of second-chance stories, but I've been found to enjoy the odd one, so I was hoping this could get added to that shelf. You find out early on why Rem left Declan, the love of his life. In fact, you learn at ~13% into it. it just turned me off Rem so hard that I was done with this book.
Let's just get this out of the way... COVER ISSUES... grrr Gemma has dark hair just like her mother and her uncle Rem... Sorry, I just like my covers to be reflective of the story! :(
Now, the story... this was so much better than the first book! Grab the tissues and be prepared to deal with two men that can't seem to get their act together. Communication is NOT a thing for them and let me tell you, it got annoying really fast! The friends and family part of the story were just wonderful and I can't wait to jump right into A Little Luck! I did feel like there was a huge change in how Gemma was written about halfway through the book, but it wasn't enough to be a bother.
Of course, it would be remise of me if I didn't mention the whole "quotation mark" issue! This book was just all over the place, but I expected it and didn't let it drive me too crazy! *grin*
This story was a real "tear jerker" and I had kleenex hitting the trash can as fast as I turned the pages. Rem lost a beloved sister and inherited his niece. Not having time to grieve and dealing with the acting out of a child who has lost a parent, he is at his wits end to try and figure out what to do. His friends help as much as they can, but Declan, his ex-boyfriend, comes back into the picture. Believing Declan cheated on him, he kicked him out of the house two years ago. A respected speech therapist, Declan still loves Rem and they both get a chance to make things up when Rem's niece, Gemma, is sent to him for help with her speech. All things are not easy though. Misunderstandings, jealousy, anger, grief, lack of communication hold the two men back. Anyone who likes an emotional rollercoaster will love this book. Now if you don't mind, I have to go and wash the tears off of my face
Yeah... no. It was better than book one in the chemistry department and the fact that it's a second chance and not an insta love that makes the speed more believable. However, the ever constant fighting was exhausting, along with the love/hate rollercoaster. I also didn't like how things went after the climax, or the direction that took. I feel that Rem wasn't the right character for it, qnd it would've been sweeter had it been Declan, and with less fighting. It was also missing something, I can't put my finger on what.
2.75 stars. Just a few things that bugged me, but overall not a bad story. There were a few times that I wasn't sure if I was supposed to like Declan or Rem better, since Rem was an out and out ass to Dec. I'll be taking a break before reading the next book in the series.
This is the second book in the series. While the story is about Declan and Remington, and the rocky path to happiness, you are still given insight into the other characters. I could not put it down and am looking forward to the 3rd book
