¿Cómo reaccionarías si te contaran que tú comportamiento ha sido inusual el día de ayer, pero realmente no recordaras tus acciones?
Desde que vi la película por primera vez —hace aproximadamente tres años— esta historia se volvió una de mis favoritas y por ello he repetido la película cinco veces. Pero, irónicamente, aún no había leído el manga, y todo por culpa de mis hábitos. Como me acostumbré tanto a que todo lo que leo lo reseño extensivamente en este sitio, entonces desde hace unos años he dejado de leer manga porque me parece muy difícil opinar —sin hacer spoilers— sobre cada tomo. Y obviamente no tiene sentido escribir una reseña exclusivamente con spoilers porque mi objetivo justamente es no hacerlos, para que de aquella forma cualquier lector pueda interesarse por el contenido en cuestión. Sin embargo, desde inicios de este año he extrañado muchísimo leer manga por lo que ya no puedo reprimir más mis deseos: Prefiero navegar contra la corriente y hacer reseñas difíciles, así sea con lentitud, que abstenerme de leer algo que me gusta bastante. Por ello, he elegido a Kimi no na wa como experimento de mis intenciones.
Este volumen de Kimi no na wa (Your Name), nos cuenta la historia de Mitsuha, una adolescente quien está completamente inconforme por el lugar en el que vive. Ella está sumergida en la monotonía y por lo tanto su deseo más profundo es vivir en Tokyo porque allí, ella cree, que será feliz por la cantidad de tiendas y lugares que podrá visitar. Por otra parte, tenemos a Taki, un chico que vive en Tokyo y que, al igual que Mitsuha asiste a clases, pero con la gran diferencia de que trabaja en un restaurante al salir de su jornada estudiantil. Sin embargo, lo interesante y gracioso de la historia, es que ellos al dormir sueñan viviendo la vida de la otra persona. Obviamente ellos nunca se han visto y no se conocen, pero poco a poco lo irán haciendo dándose cuenta de que sus experiencias son más que un sueño.
Fueron tres capítulos que si bien son divertidos por las anécdotas que tienen que vivir los protagonistas, también está compuesto —al final del tercer capítulo— con momentos de drama que sufre Mitsuha por sentimientos encontrados que empieza a mostrar. Esa transición de diversión-drama es perfecta para hacer que el lector logré encariñarse con los personajes, para luego más adelante sufrir con sus problemas. Mitsuha me hace recordar mi propia adolescencia en la que me daba pena expresar mis verdaderos sentimientos y seguir las tradiciones de mi familia en frente de mis compañeros de clase. Poco a poco vamos perdiendo ese miedo infantil, pero en esa etapa somos tan sensibles al rechazo que es natural comportarnos así a esa edad. Por lo tanto, pienso que Mitsuha es un personaje muy bien trabajado porque sí parece una adolescente: Tierna, romántica, intrépida y solidaria, pero reservada, evasiva con sus propios problemas y desencantada por lo «aburrido» de su mundo.
Las ilustraciones me parecieron muy bien trabajadas porque muestran lo necesario y nunca llegan a abrumar visualmente al lector. Asimismo, me gusta mucho el énfasis que el autor le da a las expresiones de los personajes —sobre todo cuando cambian de cuerpo—, así como la forma como juega constantemente con el tamaño de los paneles usados.
Este volumen me ha hecho reflexionar seriamente sobre lo difícil que debe ser vivir la vida de otra persona. No solo por las actividades diarias, estudio y trabajo, sino también por el modo que hablamos y tratamos con las personas de nuestro alrededor. Muchas veces pensamos que nuestra vida está vacía y que no hay nada interesante en ella, pero eso es mentira. Podemos compartir actividades, profesiones o gustos, pero absolutamente todos tenemos una vida completamente única que nadie más aparte de nosotros mismos puede vivir. Así como sufrimos desgracias únicas, también gozamos de experiencias únicas e inolvidables. La siguiente imagen representa perfectamente lo que quiero expresar:
En resumen, lo he disfrutado como lo esperaba y más con la banda sonora de la película como melodía de acompañamiento. Próximo destino: Volumen número 2.
Incluso el arroz, el sake, el agua... las cosas que entran en tu cuerpo conectan con tu alma. También eso es Musubi.

The movie is probably my favourite movie of all time, so I had to read the manga.
The narrative style and perspective is a little different to the movie. The manga is still worth reading for people who enjoyed the movie, but I'll still recommend the movie over the manga any day. The rating (3.5/5) is relative to how much I liked the movie (which is a whole lot).

Your Name, the celebrated animated film by Makoto Shinkai is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it countless times. It's a beautifully animated story of a love that defied time, space, and memory. I'll never get tired of re-watching it.
This adaptation is contained in three volumes, which coincide into three acts of the movie, The first volume contains the signature body-switching between main character Taki and Mitsuha.
Although this adaptation could not recapture the visual feast the movie was, the emotions behind the story are conveyed properly. This should be read after watching the movie, while still basking in its afterglow.

Your Name is a unique and original story about switching bodies and natural catastrophes. What the story tries to convey early on is to accept onself, mentally and physically. All with a touch of romance.
While the body switch isn't realistic the character's accents are. Perhaps not important to mention but an interesting detail added when they switch bodies.
There is also lots of action, which makes it exciting to continue reading. Most chapters end on a cliffhanger, making one want to read more to find out what happens next.
The romance between the two protagonists is funny to read about. Their little fights and the way they set rules for the other is hilarious.
Self-discovery in a book is always emotional in some way, so one should be in the mood for something slightly emotional when starting this one.
Dislikes
There are no explanations of what was happening and therefore felt a bit rushed and confusing at times.
It's also sometimes hard to follow what happened. For instance the story doesn't mentioned which day it was—making some days feel endless.

About a year ago, during my flight to Tokyo, Japan, basically everyone on the flight was watching Your Name at one point or another. I didn't think anything of it and to be honest, I had no idea what it was so I decided to skip out on it. Fast forward many months later and I really wish I had watched it! I had heard nothing but amazing reviews and I really felt as though I had missed something special. Fast forward a few more months and I still haven't watched it, but I did find the manga version online and decided to pick it up!
This first volume sets up the storyline pretty well and it is definitely very intriguing! One of my favourite mangas of all time is Orange and while I was reading Your Name, it really did remind me of Orange just a little bit. I'm super intrigued by this story and I really want to continue reading and hopefully watch the film in the near future!

Your Name, or Kimi No Na Wa, is an absolutely wonderful new Japanese animated film written and directed by the talented Makoto Shinkai. If you have a chance to go see it in theaters or watch it on Bluray or any other way, I would encourage anyone to do so — it is a visually gorgeous movie with great story and characters. It's beautiful, funny, thrilling, gut-wrenching and tear-jerking in all the best ways. It's probably in my top three movies of the year. This manga adaptation, though? I really don't see the point.
The book follows the film's story almost beat for beat. It doesn't expand much on anything, doesn't show any new perspective, nothing like that. The manga also looks inferior to the movie, because it's in black and white and is drawn by a single artist, as opposed to a whole big budget studio of professional animators. The story is still good, of course, but you only get about one third of it in this first volume, and the following books aren't even released yet. The sad truth is, this adaptation is completely unnecessary — watching the anime is a much better experience in every single way.
So the choice is easy: definitely watch Your Name. It's an incredible film. Skip the manga.

خوشحالم كه اولين تجربه ي خواندن مانگا رو با چنين شاهكاري شروع ميكنم
توصيه ام اينه كه براي شروع اين مانگا، فيلم رو ببينيد و رمان رو بخونيد و بعد به سراغ مانگا بريد .

This was fun.

One of mY ALL-TIME FAVORITE anime movies EVERRRR AHHHH-😭

AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING *let me tell you something* - revisiting this story in manga form just reminded me why🥹

The entire concept is already soooooo insanely good: we've got two complete strangers, Mitsuha and Taki, mysteriously start swapping bodies across time and distance. Like??? YESSSS, THE PLOT AND SETTING DO BE PLOTTING AND SETTING-😭
*ok I'm getting way ahead of myself, sorry, don‘t mind my outbursts lmaoo*
At first it's quite chaotic, confusing but honestly hilarious - I mean, imagine waking up in someone else's life and just having to… ✨deal with it✨
And it's not just 'dealing' with it as per se, you also have to start recognising the patterns in various behaviours of the people you're close to/even 'your own', etc. etc. all the while trying to look like 'your' normal 'self'-
Honestly, I'm getting tired by just imagining myself in that situation ahhh🤧
ALSO, LISTEN-
THE PLOT TWISTS IN THIS????
OHHHHHHH they do be ploT TWISTING 'CAUSE DAMN-
*squeals*
Just when you think you understand what's going on, the story pulls the rug out from under you aaaaand suddenly everything you thought you knew rearranges itself; it's one of those narratives where every reveal just makes the whole story hit harder in retrospect
And don't even mention the emotional suffering and anguish I'm getting from those retrospects I'm-
*I'm already spiralling even tho I already know the outcome, bUT IT STILL HITS THE SAME-*
*sobs*
One of the things I also absolutely adore and appreciate are the side characters: they're not just background decoration/noise - they actually feel alive, each bringing their own warmth, humor, and personality into the story✨
*clears throat*
Oh right, and then there's Mitsuha and Taki…
Ok, lemme just-

Even though I already knew the story from the anime, experiencing it again still managed to hit me right in the feelings *which I did sign myself up for AHHHH THE BEAUTY OF IT🥹🤧*

Fue una primera entrega bastante amena, me encanto la ambientación y la manera en que se manejaban los diálogos y la personalidad de cada uno de los personajes, no pude evitar amarlos a cada uno de ellos☁️

I have always loved Kimi no na wa. Not only in anime but Your Name is simply one of the greatest movies ever made, it is a masterpiece.
I've seen the movie quite a few times now so I finally decided to pick up the manga, the art style is gorgeous and the story is exactly the same so obviously, i love it<3

This book drifted from beginning to end weaving a story that was difficult to pause. From explanatory engaging text with a warmth that binds you to the tale. Through chapters of excitement and emotional suspense that feel endlessly mesmerizing. This story is not the easiest to comprehend at the beginning, but it all clicks in the end and it will stay with you forever.

Cca v půlce mi došlo, že už jsem to viděla jako anime. Ehhh. Oukej. Tím pádem aspoň vím, na jaký emoční sady se připravit. Milá romanťárna, sem tam docela tearjerker. Za mě dobrý.

I love this manga already! Your Name has such a unique art style and storyline that it's not hard to fall in love with it.
The book follows two students, Mitsuha and Taki. Mitsuha wishes she was a boy who lived in the city, Tokyo whereas Taki wishes he was a girl from a small village. The two miraculously change bodies and have to adapt to each others lives at least 2-3 times a week. Although this is the first book in the series, a great story arc can definitely be seen and continued on from volume 1 through to the end of the manga.
I loved the characters, the storyline and the art (which honestly just complemented the whole book) but I guess my main criticism was the start of the manga. It took me a while to understand what was going on but it got easier as it continued. With manga reading, I'm still learning how to read a manga correctly. Sometimes its bottom up, right to left other times it's up to down, right to left. I was confused at some bits as to how to read it but in all honesty, I just read whichever way made sense to me.
All in all, a solid book. I found that the movie does the book justice too and it's pretty similar to the manga from characters, the art, setting and storyline. I don't think there's anything the movie cut out. At least so far... I've only watch an hour of it.
