Snowbound with the boss—and a baby! Only from USA TODAY bestselling author Yvonne Lindsay.
When his assistant finds an abandoned baby at his family's lodge, wealthy Piers Luckman takes full responsibility. He might be clueless about children, but being snowbound with his capable, sexy employee has its benefits. Except Faye Darby shies away from little Casey and wants nothing to do with baby-rearing, Christmas…or the smoldering attraction between her and her boss. For the first time in his life, Piers must fight for what he wants—this little family…and Faye by his side and in his bed.
A typical Piscean, USA Today! Best-selling author, Yvonne Lindsay, has always preferred the stories in her head to the real world. Yvonne is a five-time Romance Writers of Australia R*BY nominee and three-time nominee and 2015 winner of the Romance Writers of New Zealand Koru Award of Excellence. She spends her days crafting the stories of her heart and in her spare time she can be found with her nose firmly in someone else’s book.
It's quite funny that I just did a review for Lindsay's One Heir...or Two just before because it reminds me a little of this story. Only instead of the man running from love and commitment, it's the heroine.
Faye has a tragic history. We learn almost immediately that she lost her entire family at Christmas time some years ago, including her new baby brother. So when her boss, Piers Luckman, needs her to decorate his lodge in rural Wisconsin...or wherever...in the ice and snow, she is already unhappy about the situation. What follows is what she would consider her worst nightmare.
A baby is left on the doorstep. A baby that is supposed to belong to a Mr Luckman. It could be Piers, though the times don't fit, or it could be his brother, who died not long after the baby was conceived.
Piers is pretty much a problem solver and while he knows nothing about babies, he's concerned enough to want to take care of what is possibly the last link to his twin. Faye knows more than enough about babies but she is terrified to let herself become involved. There is too much pain in her past and baby Casey is bringing it all back. All she wants to do is run, even though Piers is starting to mean more to her than he should.
This was a nice story, suitable for Christmas though most of the later action in the story is post-Christmas. Piers is a lovely hero who after being a playboy for years, is starting to look at life in a different way after the wake up call of his brothers death.
Faye at times was immature, but that's part of her growth arc in this story which is largely about her facing her past and letting go.
Overall a nice story. I'm not a big fan of boss and PA stories because it always irritates me when the PA spends the time in the run-up to the story handing off the equivalent of a pink slip, aka jewellery, to his ex lovers. In this case, Lydia, his most recent ex, gets far more airtime than I felt comfortable with, even though she was out the door before the story starts. I know why, and it makes sense in context of the hero's growth as a person but it's something I don't like. That might be why it didn't quite push me over the edge into 5 star territory because otherwise it was a very emotional story.
Now I cannot say that I have anything so similar to Faye's experience with guilt, but it sounds very believable to me.
However I couldn't see the ending happening in a real-life case(no intentional spoilers if you haven't read this book).
I could feel strongly for Piers, and Faye both. I had trouble putting this book down, and getting closer to the end made it a hard inner fight. I wanted to cry for Faye's inner pain/turmoil, and I have to admit a tear escaped... I don't know a lot about Psychology, but it seems like that's how many would feel going through what Faye did in her past. I can't lie; and though I can't compare that tragedy tomy own past, but I can understand self-blame well.
This book describes self-blame perfectly in my opinion, and I can't wait to read more of her books. The raw emotional rollercoaster helps make this book so darn hard to put down, and it was not hard at all for me to feel the dynamic intense emotions while reading this book.
This was just an okay read for me. Pierce is playboy millionaire/billionaire who lost his twin brother a year ago. Faye lost her mother, stepfather and baby brother in a tragic car accident 13 years ago when she was 15 years old and she blames herself. In fact, she was so traumatized that she feels she doesn't deserve love or a family so she is very closed of. She also hates Christmas because it represents the loss of her family.
As Pierce's assistant, he asks her to decorate his Wyoming house for Christmas and it is there that a baby is left by its mother for Pierce to take care. Thinking that the baby is his nephew (his brother's kid), he immediately falls in love with the little boy and in the process begins to have feelings for Faye.
The problem for me why I did not enjoy this read so much is that 1) I absolutely hate when a writer ruins the romance/love story for me in these type of boss-secretary romances when they always have the H sleeping with OW and having the h (the assistant) know about his affairs and send them gifts! In this case, Pierce had a revolving door of women that the h knew about and a year-long relationship with his ex whom he had just broke things off with before he started to go after h. In my fictional romances, I want H (and h) to be instantly attracted and together - not go through others before they "settle" on each other. That doesn't work for me. 2) There was an insta type love & attraction by the H for h which I didn't buy. For someone who ignored her for 3 years and had numerous affairs without once truly having any romantic feelings for the h, it seemed to come out of nowhere and I just didn't buy into their attraction at all. (In fact, I wanted to know more about his ex whom he had the longest relationships with and whom the h liked because she was outspoken). 3) The h just plain annoyed me. I get that the event of losing her family was traumatizing but it took her until the last two pages to get over it (somewhat) and kept coming across as so cold and unfeeling throughout the book that I just couldn't warm up to her (especially as she never once said ILY to H), and lastly 4) (WARNING! SPOILER!!!!!)
Was it truly necessary to make the baby not be his brother's kid after all? That just seemed to be cruel for me as he kept saying how the baby was a piece of his brother that he would always cherish. To have the baby written that way was just cruel IMO.
Faye hates Christmas. The last place she wanted to be was in Wyoming decorating her boss's house for Christmas. All she wants to do is finish the job and head home to sunny Southern California where she can hole up in her condo and forget that it's Christmas. She also wants nothing to do with babies, so she when she finds one in the garage as she is leaving, she is happy to hand him off to her boss and get on the road. A snowstorm and a downed tree, send her back to the house where she is stranded with her boss and a baby, at Christmas. Piers had managed to keep Faye purely in the assistant spot for the past 3 years, especially since she was irreplaceable at her job. The unexpected arrival of a baby, that may be his brother's, and being stranded with Faye, make him start to see things differently. Piers doesn't think twice about doing everything for the baby, and can't understand why Faye shies away, despite her obvious knowledge. Realizing quickly that, he had finally found what he's been looking for, Piers is determined to figure out what in Faye's past has turned her so against babies, and Christmas. This is a sweet story with interesting characters. I really enjoyed getting to know Piers and Faye, as well as watching their relationship take the turn. This is a story that doesn't disappoint!
Faye is a self proclaimed Grinch at Christmas..She is at her bosses house in Wyoming decorating for him. Once he gets there she leaves to beat the storm and get to the airport..but when she gets in her car she finds a baby with a note..she takes the baby back to Piers, her boss and turns to leave..but when going down the hill a tree falls and she hits it..she goes back to the house..She doesn't want anything to do with Christmas or the baby but she keeps telling Piers what to do..he wonders how she knows..but she is such a closed off person..they are forced together due to the storm and things heat up between them...but she can't wait to get out of there...Piers wants more but she doesn't...She can't take it and goes back to her hometown where she finally gets some help for her grief over what happened when she was young..This was such a sweet book. I felt for Faye and for Piers..A page turner.
An innocent baby, her sexy as all get out boss and a massive winter storm ... what else could go wrong?? A touching story of overcoming tragedy even after closing yourself off from the world. The characters were fun to get to know, and the plot was fulfilling.
Just as she's on the brink of escaping the Christmas nonsense her sexy boss insists upon, Faye Darby stumbles upon an abandoned baby at her boss's vacation lodge. Past trauma has her wanting nothing to do with Christmas or a baby ... no matter how adorable he may be! ... but Mother Nature has other ideas in her mind as she winds up snowbound with the likes of both!
Piers Luckman had no idea he had a buried family man buried inside himself ... but spending days on end snuggled up with an adorable baby and a prickly yet lovely lady has all kinds of ideas floating around in his head!
Not only does the book start off with the most unbearable woman known to mankind, but it gives us so many unnecessary details about everything and everyone that you cant help but laugh outloud.
She hates christmas, shes always wanted to stay single and no children. Yet in the matter of 30 min she turns into a caretaking mother, falls inlove with her christmas loving boss who JUST broke up with his ex, and manages to Turn into the most lovesick submissive girl after just a few days SAYING YES TO MARRIAGE?
btw, a sex novel should n o t contain a baby on the cover nor in the story, theres nothing less sexy than going from sex to oh no baby is crying. Bruh. ALSO the boss is a rich mc rich man and couldnt call ANYONE to come and take the abandoned baby? Wtf is this story🫠

What a great story! In this story we meet Piers Luckman and his right hand assistant Faye. Faye is sent to cold Wyoming to set up Piers home for the holidays. Faye has no interest in the holidays and after setting up the house she’s ready to get back to CA. On her way out she finds a baby left with a note. The baby is the child of Piers dead twin. She leaves the baby with Piers and heads out she doesn’t get far due to the weather and ends up back with Piers and the baby. Watch as Piers, Faye and the baby get together.
The Christmas Baby Bonus was a fabulous book that I couldn’t put down. Immediately I was drawn into Piers and Faye’s relationship. Both had tragedies they needed to overcome. Piers’ recently lost his brother while Faye lost her entire family. Enter a baby left on a doorstep and each is faced with their pasts. This was a fantastic read that I highly recommend. I received an advance copy that I voluntarily chose to read. This is my true and honest opinion.
I just love the Billionaires and Babies from Harlequin and especially the authors that write them. This one was so good and really gets you in the spirit. I loved that it touched on the foster system especially. Even though there are obstacles and hurdles that many times that you can get over them. This is a grand slam for Lindsay!
Christmas and babies, what could be better? Add in a wealthy man, and his assistant that is determine not to have anything to do with Christmas or anything having to do with babies, and you have a problem. Yvonne Lindsay takes you into the world of learning to take care of babies, reluctant assistants and into love.
A sweet and steamy holiday romance! I love the snowbound setting, the surprise baby twist, and the tension between duty and desire. This promises to be a heartwarming story about love, family, and second chances perfect for a cozy winter read.
A really sweet read, that I had trouble putting down. I love that Piers didn't let DNA results sway the course of action that he'd already begun regarding the baby in this story. Consistently through the book, Faye's response, first to Christmas and then to aiding in the care of a baby, was in line with the experiences she had in the past. Until the story expanded on those past events, she could so easily have come across as a Christmas grinch, bah humbug and all that. While I think the resolution of Faye's past was jumped through quickly it was still great to see it happen. Since Piers' dead brother played a key part in the baby part of the story, I felt it would have been good to understand what caused his death, but it wasn't crucial to the story.
Snowbound with the boss—and a baby! When his assistant finds an abandoned baby at his family’s lodge as she’s leaving, wealthy Piers Luckman takes full responsibility (believing little Henry to be his deceased twin brother’s son). He might be clueless about children, but being snowbound with his capable, sexy employee has its benefits. A tree has left the driveway impassable. Except Faye Darby shies away from little Casey and wants nothing to do with baby-rearing, Christmas…or the smoldering attraction between her and her boss. She’s punishing herself for ‘killing’ her family at Christmas when a tanker hit the car she was driving leaving her the lone survivor. For the first time in his life, Piers must fight for what he wants—this little family…and Faye by his side and in his bed. (too miserable for too long)
