This series is an enigma to me. I have to say I don’t know whether to be impressed or slightly freaked that L. Ann Marie has written a book that is sweet, cuddly and cute but at the same time is full of rapes, beatings, kidnappings and with a freaking body count so crazy huge it would have made national headlines. It’s kind of a surreal bizarre feeling, all the laughing and smiling going on while the bad guys get mowed down like targets at a county fair shooting game when the Navy Seals come to play.
As if the OTT crazy smart members, wives, and children of the MC weren’t enough in the first two books, MC: Knight and MC: Laponte, this one adds in some paranormal aspects, mainly the fact the Tess, the heroine, has visions of what’s going to happen in the future. Truly, my bullshit meter hit the extreme limits in the last book, so I just decided to go along with it and enjoy the ride, taking things as they came. Which is good since there was lots of crazy, OTT, would never happen in this universe type stuff going on.
Tess is found at a biker rally, literally up for sale after being taken by The Outlaws and used for years as a sex slave. The MC buys her to gain her freedom after seeing her being abused. She latches on to Rich, Danny’s (from MC: Laponte) son, the Navy Seal war hero who’s home for good now. She explains to Rich that she dreamed of him and Patches, and that Ally (Rich’s sister) told her through her late Grandmother that they would give her “some of their strong”. Since she had names and phrases right, Rich just goes along with it as does Patches and everyone else in the MC so they take her straight home. This only caused a little eye rolling on my part.
Tess’ story is horrific. Kept hidden away as a child because of her “evil” dreams, taken as a sex slave at the age of 16 after watching her family killed or sold into slavery, she has no idea how to function. I found the whole not knowing how to do certain things seriously hard to believe considering her age at the time she was taken, but again, going with the flow here, I just moved on. Rich, Patches, the women of the MC, and the world’s smartest kids quickly form a plan to sort her out.
I really liked Rich. He was hot, sweet, caring, slightly dominant and badass. His main focus became Tess and Patches and what was best for them as a whole. A member of the MC’s security force and with every outlaw MC after them, making Tess a priority is tough but he handles it. The good news is that in situations the MC is dealing with, Tess’ prophetic visions come in handy.
Patches seemed too self-obsessed at times and not always a valuable contribution to the relationship. There are times it felt like maybe this should have been a two person relationship instead of a ménage. There were things I loved about Patches, but when he screwed up, he did it in a big way. It’s good he was around the seemingly perfect people of the MC, because they definitely forgave and forgot quicker than I would have.
As with all the books in this series, there is action and grit galore resulting in truckloads of bodies. I am still slightly enamored of the entire crew, no matter how outlandish and ridiculous the plot gets. The writing has improved since the first book but there is still the tendency to describe scenes in a way that tells instead of shows and this gets annoying. The plot tends to meander with so much happening it seems to have everything but the kitchen sink thrown in. What I know is I’m getting strangely addicted to this series and I think it may go in my guilty pleasure pile.

Re-read the entire MC and Protectors series between June and August. I love her storytelling and characters but sometimes the prose (and particularly the conversations) is a little dense and hard to get through. But I'm back again because the guys, the gals, the kids are all SO GREAT! If you bought this a while ago and are just reading it, download a new copy from Amazon because I think a lot of them have been updated on the editing front.
L. Ann Marie sure does write different kinds of books, filled with alpha guys; cute, magical, and smart kids; women's shelters for abused women; foster families; Native Americans; and, of course, a MC at the middle of all that. There's so much that I have had to slow down to read her books, BUT I was so enticed that I ended up reading all books in this series very quickly.
There are lots of characters, and sometimes it's tough to keep track of them, especially when some of the names are used more than once (two Bens, two Maxes, two Jess characters-if you include the Baxters' series-and so on). But the world is large because she tells a lot of stories within the main story.
There's a lot of smexy sex, including two guys for Tess in this one. Rich (Danny's son) and Patches (Danny and Kate's "adopted" son) connect immediately to Tess when the club saves her by buying her from the abusive Outlaws. Another case of love at first sight. And this time we also get Tess having extreme visions of those who are coming to hurt the MC and those she loves.
That leads to what seems like the entire world wanting to come and take down the club. These scenes are handled as military missions, including the use of abbreviations for names that gets a bit confusing at times.
However, overall, as I have found throughout this series, L. Ann Marie weaves a great story; we as readers have to work hard to keep things straight, but if we can, we are rewarded with heart, sexiness, alpha badness, and those darn cute kids.
*Note: the grammar and editing has been cleaned up a bit in this 3rd book in the series but still has a way to go. I'm hoping she finds a superb editor for her superb storytelling abilities.

What Tess has been through in her life is absolutely horrendous, but she is a survivor and a very strong one at that. Rich and Patches are exactly what she needs. There are a few growing pains that take place between them but they persevere and come out stronger in the end. Rich is the strong alpha male with a dominant personality and Patches is his counter-part with a sweeter more sensitive side. Tess has visions which ultimately help to save a few main characters. I found Tess to be a breath of fresh air. She was child like because she was sheltered as a child then taken into slavery by an MC The Outlaws who are the biggest bunch of scum bags I've read about in a while. Her innocence was ripped from her and she had to start all over again - learning the simplest things in life. There is a huge body count in this one and quite frankly they deserved it. We learn a very interesting dynamic going with Kate, Danny and Ben which I'm looking forward to reading about in the next book.

MC: LaPonte – Karr is the story of Rich, Patches, and Tess. Tess was rescued by the MC from an outlaw gang selling her as a slave. Rich and Patches rescued her and brought her home to the MC. Tess takes to the men as equal partners in the triangle. I love the exploration of polyamorous relationships in the discovery of Tess’s special abilities that help keep the MC’s Brothers and Little Brothers safe. The story was told with feeling and a lot of class. I give this book five shiny motorcycles to the author for keeping her readers on the edge of their seats.

This book was so much better for me than the first two books. The story was more focused on the main characters but with some interaction from previous characters that didn't take away from the focus of their story. The writing of conversations with numerous characters was improved as well, especially when they are in one of their action scenes with the use of radio communications. There were still a few times that the conversation in a group kind of got confusing but only a few times so it was a great improvement.
I really enjoyed Patches, Rich and Tess' story. The way they all came together made for a great read. It was enough to make what Tess had not quite as special because it was just too much to be remotely believable. I think that is my biggest issue with this series by the end of a book there is too much of a good thing to the point it has almost ruined it for me by the end of the book...the visions or psychic abilities, the freaking kids, or the amount of times one woman can be a target. But it still isn't enough to keep my from enjoying the read and the happenings in the club.

Omfg!! In love!!
There is so much in this book that makes my heart just swell! Tess, what a beautiful strong woman with such a horrible background. Patches and Rich, shows that love doesn't have to be conventional, sometimes a relationship needs two alphas to balance. My previous review stated that I wanted Ben to find his woman and damn, Danny and Kate, bonus! Everything from character development to story line was superb and flawless. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for more...so much potential for sequels!! Can't wait for the little brothers and little sisters books! Thank you!!!

This series is so different from most MC books. All the books in this series portrays a paranormal/psychic/unique crowd which spans not just from the kids, but the women and men. Some crazy bizarre stuff in this series. But thats what makes the books so unique and interesting. It could be a little chaotic but worth every minute. Aside from that I love this series. Rich, Patches and Tess are so great together. Loved their story, Patches is a very sensitive guy who writes lists on how to treat your woman and he sends this list to the other guys when they get with their women.

This book carries on form book 2 and features Dannys adult son and his friend and brother Patches. They are at a rally and meet and rescue Tess who is being used as a slave. Tess has really been put through the wringer and it is a long road to her recovery but she has Rich and Patches by her side. She also has the support of the Little Brothers who really make you laugh out loud with their wisdom and attitude. It is a long road full of twist and turns but a brilliant read

This was another great book.
This book was as good as the others. I do have to say though, if you do not like violence, then you might want to skip this book. the main female character has violence forced upon her here and there through the book from a different MC. She does however learn to deal with what happened to her with the help from her husbands. So if you can handle violence, I would recommend discontinuing on with this series.

hearrbreaker......human trafficking victim rescued but it takes awhile for her to adjust after 6 years as a sex slave. then there are the continued assaults against her rescuers by the club that enslaved her. Not to mention her clairvoyance. Reread today and its still a good story. Re-read yet again in april of 2017...love this series. Re-read again! Still relevant and moving. Re-read again in august, 2020.

MC: LaPonte-Karr (MC Series Book 3) by L. Ann Marie is a great read. I loved Rich, Tess, and Patches story! This story is packed full of action, drama, passion and entertaining characters. This is an excellent addition to this series. I can not wait to read what happens next. Highly recommend to all fans of MC romance.

Wow....what to say this is an heartbreaking story of abuse so egregious it will make you cry to luv and honour and personal strength and integrity that will bring joy as u read it. This author is a genius her plots and unique style will keep u enthralled all the wHo from start to finish. Absolutely luv this series. Can't recommend it high enough.

Overall the book was okay. Normally I can finish a book in 1 day but this took me 3 days. I'm new to this author's work and am wondering what is her fetish with mmf? So far I have noticed at least 2 of the books in this series are a threesome. I'm not sure if I will continue to read this series. I don't mind it if like 1 out 10 books but really 2 out of 4 is a bit much.

Tess is amazing!
This is another great story by L Ann Marie. The development of characters in this story is amazing. Tess has such strength and resilience. Rich is so strong and steadfast. Patches is flawed due to his upbringing and has his own issues to work through. All of this with the support of the MC.

Every book just keeps getting better in this series. I hope Tiny gets more of a mention In the next book, all we learned was that Nancy had a girl. He played such a big part of the first two books I kept hoping to hear more about them.

5+ Stars! Another amazing book! This series is action packed, emotional and hilarious! I love getting to know the characters. I like the harsh story lines and how they deal with them. Very well-written!! Still laughing out loud and cursing while reading... I owe another $50 to the swear jar!

Tess, and a group of girls from her church, had been taken by an MC when she was 16, Now at 21 she hears that she is being sold. Everyone she has known has been sold or dead, she is the last survivor from her group.
Patches is worried about Rich. Rich hasn't been himself and Patches wants to find out what's going on. He is wondering if Rich knows about the Pres (Ben) has been in love with Kate (Rich's step mom and Danny's wife) since she and Danny took in the twins - maybe before that.
Rich and Patches do everything, and I mean EVERYTHING together. While at a biker event, one "activity" starts them thinking that they have had enough of the "hump & dump" in their life. The discussion turns into "if they can find a woman they both want to be with and make it work."
As the MC guys, and Kate, are walking around Rich makes eye contact with Tess. She's in shackles and a Prospect is hosing her down. Kate goes up to him and gives him a piece of her mind. Pretty soon all of the MC are there. Pres starts talking to the Outlaws' Pres about how the MC can get the girl away from the outlaws. While the discussion is going on, MC members circle Tess, with their backs to her, Kate gives Rich money to get her some clothes and shoes, he ends up going back to get her some hair "things", tosses them into her.
When Pres comes back, they walk away, Rich holding Tess' had. The Outlaw Pres yells something at them. Danny knows Kate wants to go back so he throws her over his shoulder and Rich tells Tess to "just keep walking." Tess tells him she has dreamed of him and a another man, kind and gentle. Ally says Rich can do it. She is in Tess' dreams. Ally's grandmother told Ally she can help Tess."
When Rich hears these words from Tess he starts asking for Kate.
This book could be read alone BUT, the characters in the series start in Book one and grow in substance in each proceeding book. Therefore I would recommend that you read the series in order to fully understand the characters and their relationships.

Patches is worried about Rich. Rich hasn't been himself and Patches wants to find out what's going on. He is wondering if Rich knows about the Pres (Ben) has been in love with Kate (Rich's step mom and Danny's wife) since she and Danny took in the twins - maybe before that.
Rich and Patches do everything, and I mean EVERYTHING together. While at a biker event, one "activity" starts them thinking that they have had enough of the "hump & dump" in their life. The discussion turns into "if they can find a woman they both want to be with and make it work."
As the MC guys, and Kate, are walking around Rich makes eye contact with Tess. She's in shackles and a Prospect is hosing her down. Kate goes up to him and gives him a piece of her mind. Pretty soon all of the MC are there. Pres starts talking to the Outlaws' Pres about how the MC can get the girl away from the outlaws. While the discussion is going on, MC members circle Tess, with their backs to her, Kate gives Rich money to get her some clothes and shoes, he ends up going back to get her some hair "things", tosses them into her.
When Pres comes back, they walk away, Rich holding Tess' had. The Outlaw Pres yells something at them. Danny knows Kate wants to go back so he throws her over his shoulder and Rich tells Tess to "just keep walking." Tess tells him she has dreamed of him and a another man, kind and gentle. Ally says Rich can do it. She is in Tess' dreams. Ally's grandmother told Ally she can help Tess."
When Rich hears these words from Tess he starts asking for Kate.
This book could be read alone BUT, the characters in the series start in Book one and grow in substance in each proceeding book. Therefore I would recommend that you read the series in order to fully understand the characters and their relationships.

No idea why I read even a couple of pages of this book. I was not even able to finish it, though I certainly tried. The
book did not make much sense. The characters behave like people from some other planet. Moreover, the story is very confusing. It could have been good, but it was not excecuted well.
Here are some reasons why:
First of all I find sentences like I gave chin ... rather odd. English is certainly not my mother tongue. But I have never come across a sentence like this and I have read plenty of English books by now.
The relationship between the three main characters progresses too fast for my taste. The heroine Tess basically trusts the two heroes Patches and Rich right from the start. I find this a bit hard to believe any abuse survivor would act in such a way. Even if she had visions of the two men I find the whole situation a bit absurd. She just met the guys, but is ok with sleeping in the same room with them.
The heroes even sleep in the same bed with her (she sleeps, they watch over her) the same day she has finally been freed from her captors. It is hard to believe someone who has been sexually abused for five years is that trusting towards men. I totally accept the fact that a person who has experienced such horrifying stuff like Tess will behave different than a person who has not. However, being so trusting towards two strangers (ok she saw them in visions) is just unrealistic. Her acting more distrustful or scared of them
would have made more sense.
The way Rich's (one if the heroes) family behaves is a bit odd as well. Which child on earth expects money for giving good advice or helping a person who has been through terrible times? I certainly like to believe kids are not selfish like that.
Furthermore when Rich first gets to know about Tess' visions he does not pay them that much attention. At least not as much as one would expect. Granted he is a bit surprised, but seriously I would be freaking out if some I never met before had visions of my family members. I believe most people would as well.
Lastly another reason for my dislike is another unrealistic scene:
Nine men beat up a group of thirty, who had been armed. This is too otherworldly in my opinion. The group of nine knew martial arts, but there is no way on earth to escape unscarred from such a situation. Well, except maybe if you happen to be superman.
I cannot recommend this book !!!!!!!

Great Story
Committed polyandry ménage, steamy story. There are some dark topics, surrounding Tess, human trafficking, gang tape and abuse of women, physical, sexual and verbal. There are no graphics descriptions, it may be an issue for some. This story takes on a stronger paranormal theme. There has been hints of the paranormal, the Baxter twins, and Alle and her dream messages from her grandmother.
Tess was kidnapped from her isolated rural church at 16 and turned into a slave by the Outlaw MC. They MCs are at a rally and buy Tess her freedom. There is a connection between Tess and Rich. Tess has dreams and has dreamed of her saviors, Rich and Patches.
Rich had a strong connection the moment he saw Tess being hosed down. When he gets her back to his and Patches room, Patched feels the same. Tess is in a bad way. She has to relearn how to be independent. How to safely interact with others, especially men. Kate becomes mother to Tess and provides advice to her oldest boys on how to care for and keep Tess safe. Little Ben,Jesse and Alle along with the rest of Rich and Patches younger brothers help.
As Tess finds safety and love with her new extended family her dreams/vision effect her strongly. Denny is able to help her focus through them obtaining valuable information to protect their family, the brothers of the MSs and their community.
Patches had a rocky time finding his place in his relationship with Rich and Tess. His insecurities put Tess in danger, and erodes her confidence. They go through a lot trying to make things work. Solid advise and unwavering support from Ben, Denny and Kate, help keep them from falling apart. I loved how the brothers and the old ladies supported Tess, looking out for her while letting her find her strong.
Love Denny, Kate and Ben's new relationship. While I love all the guys of the MCs, Steve is my favorite. I loved how he interacted with Tess, who was terrified of him. Never being anything but who he is. Showing Tess with his actions that not all scary badass men are abusive. Never made her fell bad her fear and her struggles. Amazing
This one was a little harder to read, Abuse is a bitter pill to swallow. The humor and love are what makes it easier to read. I'm on book 4 and am still blown away how this author keeps the time lines in perfect order. Especially when I don't have to keep rereading scenes from previous books over again. She lightly taps into them to bring characters up to speed but doesn't drown you in stories you've completed.

*HOT, HOT, HOT*
I absolutely love the MC series! Every book just gets better. The amount of steamy scenes and conflicts are perfect! This book really tore at my heart but in the end is just beautiful. I almost wish it were longer to see Rich, Tess and Patches explore more of the "wicked" ways! Fantastic read definitely recommend the series!!

It's just full
This book is just full from cover to cover. You start reading one bit, and it evolves to more, and this continues throughout the book. The storyline just keeps moving, advancing at pace, but still easy to follow. The characters are dynamic and well developed with both good and bad traits to overcome. Couldn't put this book down.

Repetitive. But...
There is so much religion in the book. It gets distracting at times. However, I couldn’t put it down. Loved seeing these three characters work their way to together.

Not for those who issues
It's a Disney utopia mixed with Mad Max world. Some of the book is difficult to read and shouldn't be read by survivors with triggers.
