CEO Noah runs a tight ship when it comes to business, but he made the ultimate workplace mistake: he dated his assistant. When the guy quit his job in a snit, he left some important paperwork unresolved—namely, Noah's visa extension. Now Noah's got two weeks to get things in order, or he'll have to leave the country.
Enter IT expert Dylan. Noah has had a secret crush on him for months. Bone-meltingly handsome and wickedly smart, Dylan's the only guy in the company who doesn't kiss up to the boss. Marrying him will solve two problems at once: Noah will be able to stay in the country, and he'll get to play house with the one guy he can't get out of his system.
Dylan's life is complicated enough without a marriage of convenience to the boss. That can't possibly end well, right? But the guy sure knows how to fill out a suit, and Dylan's had more than one fantasy about what's underneath it. Plus, Noah is offering to throw a stack of money Dylan's way. With his mom on the brink of losing her house due to medical bills, it's an offer Dylan can't refuse.
When Dylan moves into the blond-haired, blue-eyed CEO's mansion, it's supposed to be a temporary situation. But when Dylan sees the cracks in Noah's confident façade, he can't stop his heart from getting involved. Will their differences tear them apart, or can these two opposites find their way to lasting love?
This steamy M/M romance has a happy ending and no cliffhanger.
In a former life, Felix Brooks worked a corporate job in the South. When the voices in his head wouldn’t stay quiet any longer, he moved to San Francisco to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his pets.
I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Overall I enjoyed this story. It is a short and light-hearted tale of a Canadian CEO whose work visa is set to expire and his now ex-lover/assistant sending him a note saying he hadn't filed his renewal paperwork. Chaos and panic ensues with Noah trying to figure out what to do. As you know from the blurb, he finds Dylan and proposes marriage. Now, this trope isn't new and we've all seen this played out in the movies and books so many times, so I wasn't expecting there to be any surprises. Weeeeellllll...
I thought the writing was good and I didn't really roll my eyes at all at corny little scenes. I liked Noah and Dylan - and despite all their neuroses and quirks - they are really cute. I did have a hard time with their toing and froing as far as their relationship status. Neither of them could make up their mind about what they wanted from the marriage. So many times they said they wanted a real marriage, but then they would worry the other wasn't really interested in love and a true marriage. I got annoyed with how much time was wasted with them going back and forth in their minds, and even contradicting things they had spoken aloud to each other. They did come to an understanding in the end, but I was skipping those parts because I just didn't care to hear them worry about the others feelings one more time!
The plot is unbelievable but if you read this for simply the short light-hearted tale it is, you will find yourself relaxing and just enjoying the stupidity and silliness that is these men. Note that when I converted my MOBI copy to a PDF so I could read it more easily, it only has 114 pages, so this isn't going to take up much of your time. I give this 3 stars and in all honesty I would say grab this as a freebie or on sale. It's cute, but not perfect (for me anyway), but it wasn't bad. Again, no cringing (or, not much, lol), and I would be the first to tell you to run away if I thought you should. Nope, not telling you to do that here. Did I mention the plot was unbelievable? Just remember I warned you!! Cute and light, but not without flaws. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this cute story by Andrea Dalling and Felix Brooks. I loved the dynamic between Dylan and Noah and how Noah is the dominate in everything except for the bedroom. With Dylan, Noah becomes the perfect submissive. Their marriage may have started out unconventional, but that didn't make it any less real to Dylan and Noah. Yeah, they had their misunderstandings, but with communication, they were able to work them out. The book was kind of cheesy in some parts when Noah and Dylan got mushy and super sweet, but it was few and far between. Moreover, I liked how the authors tied up all of the questions that I had by the end of the book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This book is really cute, and I enjoyed this story a-lot. I always like the insta-love and fake Marriage books, although in this one, neither Noah or Dylan wants it to really be fake even from the start. They feel drawn to each other right from the beginning. And even though they seem to have major Hot and Steamy chemistry in bed together they both realize that its a lot harder to make a marriage work outside of the bedroom, even when its "fake"
Terribly disappointing. The entire plot is given away in the first chapter. Both characters come off as mercenary and shallow. The entire story was trite and not at all like the wonderful work usually produced by these two authors. This was so horrible I ended it before the end. I love their other collaborations but this one sucked.
PS — (I know . . . a PS before the review?) I’ve just finished the expanded edition of “THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL” and though I wouldn’t change my review, (which follows) I did want to add this: The expanded edition is great! It fully rounds out this story and really “completes” it. It fills in some of the holes in Noah’s feelings and thoughts throughout. It adds external views as to how this impromptu marriage between their boss and their fellow employee, and/or their subordinate, looks to others in the corporation. It shows more of how Dylan’s marrying not just the boss but, also, marrying a very, very rich man effects Dylan’s sense of self. Something he hadn’t even considered beforehand. He’d had no idea marrying this man would effect him in any way because he’d always thought he had a strong sense of who he was — which is exactly why Noah even took notice of him. He didn’t cut Noah any slack just because he was the boss. He treated Noah just as he did anyone else — with ease and joviality. He’d never let Noah, or anyone else for that matter, intimidate him whether at work, or anywhere else. Not that Noah purposely tried to intimidate anyone. Everyone just always seemed to cower around him and automatically become “Yes Men” whenever he came around. Everyone except Dylan, that is. It shows Dylan being able to move up through the corporate ladder of his own volition and not because of anything the boss, or his marriage, did for him. It also, shows how Noah and his mother start to take the steps needed to rebuild their relationship (through Dylan’s urging) and not just “WHAM” they’re together at a fundraiser and suddenly they’re the best of friends. It’s a good addition to the book that shows more of a realistic view of what happens when an employee, of a huge corporation, marries it’s CEO and how it affects not only them but, also, those around them. Yes, indeed, a very good expansion!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: (July 6, 2017)
If all your problems seemed to finally be taken care of...WOULD YOU? If given the chances at a real life fairy tale...SHOULD YOU? What if it wasn't just for now, but for always...COULD YOU?
AND, WHY NOT? WHY NOT HAVE...FAMILY TAKEN CARE OF...A DREAM COME TRUE...AND A CHANCE AT A REAL "HAPPINESS EVER AFTER?"
—These are all the things that Dylan contemplates as Noah, his boss and CEO of the multi-billion dollar company Dylan works for, asks him to marry him. The only thing Noah is contemplating is Staying In The Country. Oh ya, plus...finally getting Dylan into a Real.Live.Bed. Sadly though, none of the reasons-on either Dylan or Noah's side-involve the word LOVE. —This book is so much more than just a list of good check marks in all the right categories. This is a REALLY BEAUTIFUL STORY of Love Found and Explored. Except, it's AFTER Getting Married, not before, and it's to the man that each of these men have secretly been dreaming about for nearly a year. It's a soft and tender story of how each man desperately wants to love the other man for more than just the "fake marriage" they set out to have. Yet, it's about how each of them doesn't know how to tell the other man they want more. Each is so sure the other man is in it just for the reason's stated when they agreed to get married in the first place: Dylan—for the money and the sex. Noah—for getting to stay in the country. Oh, ya, and the sex with Dylan too, and in a bed—finally! —THIS IS A REALLY HOT READ! THE SEXUAL TENSION IS SO HIGH and so prevalent throughout this entire story. It's like an oh, so tightly wound, rubber band! Dylan and Noah have perfect chemistry! Both are matched in personality and sexual ways. As Dylan says, Noah may be CEO at work, but he's CEO of the bedroom. Dylan likes to take charge in bed. Noah really appreciates that. All of Noah's previous lovers had always expected him to be the one to take charge in bed, to be the one to do all the work, just because he's such a high powered, take-charge CEO. But, that's not at all what Noah wants in the bedroom. He wants —no, make that—he NEEDS someone else to take charge, for a change. Noah doesn't want to be the one who has to do and decide everything ALL THE TIME—especially, in the bedroom! And, you know what's best? Dylan instinctually knows this and gives Noah exactly what he needs, right from the start. The sexual tension between Dylan and Noah may be very high, high, high! But, the sex itself is really hot, hot, hot! It's JUST ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! »» BUT, IT'S NOT JUST THE USUAL SEX STUFF! «« NOOO...NOT EVEN CLOSE..."Noah looked like a Nordic god, and the company promo materials took full advantage of that." But, as Dylan says, it's truly a shame that NOAH's actual sexual experiences had been limited to "intercourse, bl^w-jobs and h^nd-jobs." And, Noah's completely confused by this...What else is there?...So, Dylan makes it his mission to ENRICH Noah's KNOWLEDGE of the VARIETY and ever So Enjoyable Sexual ways, of Showing Your Love in bed, that don't include "intercourse, bl^w-jobs and h^nd-jobs." Thus, of course, showing Noah the VARIETY and ever So Enjoyable Sexual ways, of Making Love, too. And believe me, every bit of it is beautiful! —I BELIEVE THESE TWO AUTHORS HAVE IT "JUST RIGHT" when it comes to the emotional ups and downs of dating, wanting and loving! They did not miss any of of the emotional—or physical—marks in this book. I believed in the situation Dylan and Noah were put in. I believed that how they reacted and handled it was exactly right for how two people who already knew each other, and really wanted more with each other, would truly act and respond. THEIR "HEA" IS SO EMOTIONALLY REWARDING. They have this one last, COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL, TENDER and EMOTIONAL BEDROOM SCENE together that it could be considered the scene that lets you know they have achieved their much deserved and very heartwarming "HEA" as much as does the next scene, which actually is the one that lets you know everything will be just fine for them. There's no "iffy" "Happy-For-Now" kind of thing, oh plus, there's one other small, but important, scene a tiny bit later—at the very end of the book. This is a STAND-ALONE BOOK but, does have a lot of room to go further, that is if the authors wanted to continue their storyline, into their future. But, that would just be "extra icing on the cake" and Not Necessary to this book, at all. Even more importantly, it does NOT HAVE A CLIFFHANGER! And thank the authors for that! They did not leave any unanswered questions. No unanswered "what happened here?" or "what happened after?" type of thoughts. Everything is neatly written and wrapped up, as far as those types of questions go. —I've read most of Andrea Dalling's books, which includes the ones she has written with Felix Brooks and, THIS I CAN VERY HONESTLY SAY...I TRUTHFULLY BELIEVE THEIR BOOKS HAVE SUCH HEART and SOUL. They are written so Sweetly and with such Genuine, Honest Emotions and Expressions of life's real woes, hopes, wants and needs. I know some folks seem to think it's sappy, but I don't. They do write "true to life" situations. And in very exciting, tension filled, sexually charged ways. And though it may be "true to life," it's never a boring, plodding or dull life. Their characters have rich, full personalities, intense feelings, and oh so beautifully expressed emotions and heartfelt needs. Just like all the rest of us...no?...YES!!!
—I HONESTLY ENJOYED READING THE "ARC" (ADVANCE READER COPY) OF THIS BOOK "THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL" FROM THE AUTHORS "FELIX BROOKS and ANDREA DALLING" THAT I AM EXCITEDLY, AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY, VOLUNTEERING TO WRITE THIS REVIEW. I SINCERELY HOPE TO ENCOURAGE OTHER READERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH EITHER THIS GENRE, OR THESE AUTHORS, TO TAKE A NEW STEP AND GIVE IT A TRY...I TRULY BELIEVE THEY WOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
I wish I could say that I liked this more, but I didn't. I'm glad this was an ARC because I would have been sad to have spent money on this. First things first, I loathe short stories. If I'm going to spend money, I want the things I buy to be worth it financially and short stories usually aren't in it for me.
Now on to the actual story. Noah is a CEO from Canada who because of his former employee and ex is in danger of being deported. Dylan is an IT guy who works for Noah's company. Regardless of their positions, Noah and Dylan have a good and short history together that can be summed up in a blowjob at a Christmas party. The fact that the two of them already know each other is probably part of what makes it a short story. But I also feel that this is part of what makes this story shallow. There's nothing to build on in the story.
Noah and Dylan are characters without any quirks or unique aspects of themselves. Dylan is a little bit of a more dominant personality and it makes him a top, but that's about it. There's not drama or angst in the story and it takes away from the depth of the plot, in my opinion. The only thing that happen is the return of the ex, which you'd have to be dumb not figure would happen, but even his return is more uneventful than anything. It fits the plot, but there's nothing significant overall to him showing back up.
The only thing going in this was the somewhat unrealistic, but very sweet, love-romance between Dylan and Noah and the character interaction. As mentioned, the two of them met before in some alternate universe/reality so the romance between them is really innocent, and sweet and not as steamy, but still hot. This read more like a very long epilogue to their story, rather than it being the beginning of their story. Noah and Dylan are very sweet together and the dynamic is really light and amusing.
Overall the story is ok. It has a somewhat complete plot, not a lot of holes, but it's just not enough of a full story for me. Definitely a good short sweet story, but...just needs to be elaborated upon.
If HR says you can't date jumping to marriage is not the next best plan
A marriage-for-business trope book that actually does a good job getting away from that rather quickly. Dylan and Noah each have needs; Noah needs a green card marriage and Dylan needs money to help his mother. When Noah proposes they get married to solve both their problems Dylan decides it has some promise and agrees. But when the visa clears up things change and suddenly the two are staring down a real marriage and what it means.
The whole marriage visa thing actually gets cleared up pretty quickly, so the most surprising thing is that it doesn't clear things between the two men. The whole visa thing was a trick and the marriage could be annulled, but both Dylan and Noah express interest in actually trying to be together. However, the two of them still fret later on about what the marriage means and if it is alright to fall in love. In a way this seems backwards since the business proposition part should be moot, but since it started that way it is still something to get over.
Some things remain unanswered and the struggles are both based in love and based in the rush marriage. There is no drama or angst based on outside lovers or pasts, which is nice, and the angst that does come up is presented reasonably from both angles. The two men work through their issues and do fall in love in a sweet way, with an easy to read story that I didn't want to set down. It is more so a story that in retrospect I have issues with and find myself questioning choices and plot points, but at the time it was a good read.
As a trope I do like a marriage of convenience story. And while overall I enjoyed this book I felt the beginning was a bit rushed and could have done with being a bit more developed so the story was more believable and we saw more why the MCs acted in the way they did.
CEO Noah's visa is about to expire and he's got a week to get things in order, or he’ll have to leave the country. While he waits for the paperwork to get sorted he decides a marriage of convenience is a good back up plan. He decides to ask Dylan the company's IT expert. Noah and Dylan shared a moment at the company party a year ago and both have secret crush on the other. But Noah can't date Dylan because he's the boss. I wish this part of the story had been written as a flash back or prologue. I think it would have given more insight to why Noah picked Dylan in the first place, why Dylan agreed to the marriage (and I wasn't just the money he needed for his mum's medical bills in the prep) and why they jumped straight into a relationship within the arranged marriage.
I liked the MCs and I do think they worked well together. I liked how Noah was the more submissive of the pair and Dylan was super sweet & sexy. I did enjoy it but it did need a bit more developing in my personal opinion.
I really enjoyed reading this sweet, emotional heartwarming MM romance. It is about: a CEO (Noah) who really did not think about the repercussions when he got involved with his assistant who later quit when he could not get his way. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he asks IT expert (Dylan) to marry him in a “marriage of convenience” not realizing that Dylan has feelings for him. There is: a insubordinate IT expert (Dylan), a CEO (Noah), a conniving ex (Troy), a cute dachshund (Ginger), some drama, intrigue, humor, family issues, attractions, sexual tension, mischievousness, a proposal, sarcasm, financial manipulations, marriage, business deal, unexpected news, jealousy, apprehension, verbal banter, realization, romantic dreams, misunderstandings, closure, recordings, betrayal, advice, questions, love, happiness & steamy scenes. I found the story-line to be entertaining, well-thought out and written. The characters are unique & quirky with individual personalities. This book kept my attention until the last page was turned and I really would recommend it.
I liked the story by Felix Brooks and Andrea Dalling. Noah is a CEO who finds himself in a pickle. He is Canadian who needs to stay in the US for work. So what does one do when they know that their visa is gonna expire....he finds an American to marry. Here enters Dylan...he works in the IT department for Noah's company. Dylan is in need of money to help his ailing mother's medical bills. This is a win win for the both of them. Dylan needs someone to marry and Dylan needs the money that Noah can give him. What they didn't bargain on was the attraction for each other but as long as they don't fall for each other it will be fine....or will it backfire on them both.
I really enjoyed this book. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys this type of story. Well done!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
What a delightful book the writing was amazing. The characters were well developed and thought out. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. Noah is a CEO and Dylan is a IT guy and they are the MC’s of this book and are very likeable. There was humor, a dog, Hawaii, lava, stars, a sex tape, a pre nup and so much more in this book. Here is a quote from the book, “So it’s a win/win/win.” “If you have to put everything in business jargon, instead of communicating like a human being, then yes.” Noah grinned. “You’ve got a smart mouth on you.” “And you love it.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can highly recommend. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Noah was in a tight spot, get married or get deported. With time running out he turned to the only employee he trust to help him. Dylan is IT geek trying to stay afloat while helping his family. What he needs, is cash and lots of it quickly, what is he going to do. So when his sexy boss makes him an offer he can't refuse who is he to turn it down. Will Noah be able to stay in the country? Will Dylan be able to help his family? Will the marriage last or just until Noah is ready to end it? One flick and find out. I have loved Andrea since Loving Jordan and I'm now a forever fan. She writes such heartfelt M/M books.
This book was a sweet telling of two very differ men getting together for all t he wrong reasons, but in the end is it all business or will they stay together?
what started out as a marriage of convenience turned into so much more, but then again don't they aways. Noah loves his company and knows he shouldn't be dating any of his employees but he couldn't help it and ended up dating the one person he shouldn't have now his life is in limbo. While trying to figure out what to do he thinks about marrying the one person he can't seem to stop thinking about Dylan. Dylan is struggling to find a way to help his mom her her house and when the opportunity arises there is no way he can turn it down. but can he really marry his boss just for the money? Dylan knows he is attracted to Noah and would love to be his partner but will this marriage mess things up. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
This concept has been done before and along the same lines too. This was written okay but it just seemed that more than the marriage was quick. The whole story seemed to be on fast forward. I didn't really feel a connection between the MCs either. I liked the Mcs individually but I wouldn't have placed them together. The interaction seemed a bit false at times. I didn't think Noahs interactions with people were believable either. As CEO his people skills should have e been there. The relationship with his mum could have been developed more too.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Two of my favorite tropes are the marriage of convenience and the Cinderella story; this book had both, written by authors that I have in my must read list, and yet, it didn't hold my interest.
I wanted to be excited about Noah and Dylan realizing that they loved each other. I wanted Troy to be truly despicable, and to be the driver of the "breakup" section of the book. Instead the love between the two of them didn't stir me much and Troy could have been completely cut from the story and nothing would have been missed.
Overall, I thought that this was ok, but I expected better from both authors so I was ultimately disappointed.
This is a quick, fun book that combines office romance and marriage of convenience. That much can be garnered from the book blurb, but the story is made so much more charming by the quirky main characters. Noah and Dylan are idiosyncratic, each in their own ways, and together they make an endearing match that had me once again appreciating how complicatedly simple it can be when the right person brings out the hidden depths in another person. Because of the tropes in this story, uncertainty and withheld communication take precedent, creating a healthy amount of fretting and worry. But the story is wrapped up nicely by the end. A perfect afternoon read.
When Noah the CEO of his company realises that his Visa extension has not been filed and he has no other option to stay in the country than to get married, he knows exactly who he wants to ask. When Noah asks Dylan the IT expert in the company to marry him, Dylan knows he has a way to clear the $100,000 of his mothers medical bills. The fact he is attracted to Noah is a bonus. When will the pair admit that they have actually fallen in love each other? This is an enjoyable hot short story with misunderstandings and makeup sex throughout.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is simple, Noah the CEO of a multi million dollar company needs to get married to stay in the country and asks his secret crush IT expert Dylan to be his pretend husband. Dylan's mum is in dire financial debt so to save her house and pay her medical bills Dylan agrees to be Noah's husband.
What both men don't realise is what happens when pretend becomes real. Recommended.
Another great book the story line will keep you gripped and turning the page. It's has a strong story line that can be quite funny at times. Noah comes across as up tight and organized however his insecurities run deep. Dylan has had a crush on Noah since they first met. This story tells of their developing relationship and is a really great read. I can't recommend it strongly enough if you love a good romance this is the book for you.
Marriage Proposal is a marriage of convenience story. CEO Noah is a Canadian living and working in the USA. What do you do when you think your visa expires in 1 week?? You marry an American! Dylan is an IT employed at Noah's company. Dylan agrees to marry Noah in exchange for money to help his mother keep her home. Although the story line for this book is predictable, the book was well written and hot!
Noah and Dylan made such a cute couple. I liked when Dylan dominated Noah- hawt. I just wish both men would have been better communicators from the start to save misconceptions and hurts. At times, I wanted to shake Dylan for his lack of understanding and lack of trust of Noah. I liked how supportive moms were of their sons- the way it should be. Nice ending. I look forward to more from these authors.
This takes one of my favourites tropes (fake marriage) and makes it a truly interesting read. I like the changing dynamics between the characters and the way we can see how marrying not only his boss but also a really wealthy man affects Dylan.
I like the realistic feeling of the story, brought mainly for the way we see the consequences of this marriage in both characters.
This is a very good romance, truly worthy of your time :)
I thought this book would be for me since it had the “married for green card” trope with a employer/employee but There just really wasn’t any conflicts to the relationship except Noah's personality. The relationship was sweet, but I didn't see why Dylan was in love with Noah. I was bored through most of it.
The cover of this book really pique my interest. When I read this book, I think the cover's model really potrayed Noah. His face and his attitude just like Noah. lol.
I have enough books about fake dating or fake marriage but it felt different, I really loved it. Both of them are honest about their feelings and I love how Dylan can trully seen Noah behind his CEO facade and explore the submissive part of Noah in bed.
Well, I was lured into buying this book from the blurb which was good. I swear, the author just wrote a heterosexual book but just substituted a male name for a female name. It's nothing but angst, angst, sex, sex, and more sex. It's a wonder the prologue didn't say to have your sex toys ready to pleasure yourself. Sorry, the premise was good but it got trashed.
The writing style is really not for me, it's abrupt and messy, the insta lust is off the charts here and just came across weirdly placed.
Along with both coming across as jerks, Noah has money expects people just do what he wants. Dylan is up his own ass in his talents, has options so not bothered if fired will get somewhere else. Just am I supposed to like/care about them? If so it's a poor introduction.
I'm just not interested enough to continue...

This is my first Andrea Dalling book but it will not be my last. Love everything about this book...the story, the MCs, the marriage of convenience trope...and adore the style of writing. Nothing outlandish here...just two guys who are attracted to each other falling in love in unusual circumstances.
