Like many Christians, you may have spent time memorizing Scripture, but what about taking the time to sing the Scriptures? Singing the Scriptures by Julie Meyer gives Christians guidance on how singing the Scriptures can lead them into a deeper spiritual life. Meyer says "it only takes a Bible and a willingness to engage God in song." I think that means means that you don't have to be the best singer, God will enjoy your voice regardless if you are willing to try it.
Singing the Scriptures offers advice and "how to" on taking scripture verses and singing them back to God as a form of personal worship. Each chapter offers practical advice and information followed by prayer, questions to ask yourself, and access to an on-line video to demonstrate how singing the scriptures works. Meyer is a Dove-nominated artist and worship leader who leads workshops on singing the scriptures so she shares from a place of knowledge as well as a heart for serving God.
I so enjoyed this little book. Singing the Scriptures is helping to change my personal worship time. I do feel more hopeful and encouraged when I take the time to sing the scriptures. While Scripture memory helps me, I found putting the verses to music helps me remember them even better. I think this book could encourage anyone to have a deeper relationship with God through singing Scripture.

In Singing the Scriptures, multi-talented Julie Meyer shares her method of learning God's Word. Her method is somewhat unconventional, but simple and effective. As a worship leader, singer, and songwriter, Julie's music is a constant in her life. She wrote this book to share with others how singing verses can be life-changing. This helps provide peace in difficult situations and also is the best form of memorization. Singing is a wonderful way to praise the Lord. Throughout this book, Julie teaches her readers how to make singing the Scriptures work in their lives.
This is such a special book. I fully agree with Julie's singing methods and can definitely see how this can be the best way to memorize and meditate on Scriptures. Most of the verses I remember from childhood are the ones I learned in songs and they have stuck with me on into adulthood. The stories and testimonies in this book gave me chills and really inspired me. I also really like the videos that Julie provides at the end of each chapter and I would encourage readers to definitely check those out. This is a book that everyone should read. It's an eye-opening read that will strengthen your spiritual life. Thank you so much to Julie and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book!

Singing the Scriptures by Julie Meyer is a great book about learning how to sing the scriptures. I love the idea of praising and worshipping God this way. This book was amazingly, interesting. As someone who prays scriptures, I loved singing scriptures even though I don't like how I sound, it has made it easier for me to memorize them. Singing the scriptures has made it easier for me to remember them.
Julie's methods are very easy and doable for anyone. The idea is that you sing, create a tune and use the scriptures to sing. It is that easy. She also has suggested prayer, questions to answer and video links for further instruction in the chapters. I think this book is fantastic. I give this book 4/5 stars. A favorable review was not required for a complimentary copy of this book.

I love this idea, singing the scriptures. I will be honest, I haven't tried it yet. But Julie shares many stories about how it has worked in her own life and the lives of others.
At the end of each chapter is a prayer, a few questions and then usually it will tell you to go visit her site, click on the chapter you just finished and do the activity. I haven't had a chance to try any of that yet, but I do plan to.
She stresses that you do not have to be a worship leader or have a beautiful voice to do this. It is all about the Word getting in your heart and mind. If this sounds interesting to you I recommend this book

Great testimony of God
Wonderful! Julie really helped me understand and begin to sing scriptures on my own, for my personal growth. The research and testimonies just prove what King David knew and practiced.

March 21, 2018It was many years ago when I learned heard about singing the scriptures. I have since then loved the idea as another way to praise and worship God. What better words to sing to God than His own. I pray them to Him but I want to sing them too. I was definitely interested in this book!
I have read that if we read, speak, and write something we will have a greater capacity to remember it. How much more so if we sing it too, and of all things we read the Bible is the most important to recall! In fact words set to music are easier to memorize, they naturally just stick in your mind. What about commercial jingles? How many of those do can we sing word for word even from out childhood?
God loves for us to sing to Him. He doesn’t care if we have a wonderful voice or not. He hears from our heart. Numerous times in scripture we find it as a command. Consider that the Lord placed an entire book on the Psalms sang to Him.
I must say I was a little apprehensive about how hard this might be, as I had studied a method of matching old hymns to Bible verses and it was quite daunting. Ms. Meyer’s method is very easy and doable for everyone. Just sing, make up a tune; anyone can do this! The book is filled with encouragement to step out and try. There are many testimonies the incredible change this practice has had on the author’s and others lives. She also brings out what the scriptures have to say about song and those who sang to Him. At the end of the chapters is a suggested prayer, questions to answer and a big bonus; the link address to Ms. Meyers’ website for a video to further instruction in this. I loved her passion and excited for this, it is contagious. A fantastic book1

Singing the Scriptures is a book that I wasn't quite sure would be relevant to me. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this book was just as relevant to me as it would be to someone who is a member of a worship team. I appreciated the simplicity of the concepts and the clarity of her information and guidance. I recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen their relationship with the Lord.
