brI#8220;You say everybody wants to be Cary Grant? Even I want to be Cary Grant.#8221; /I#8212;Cary GrantPHe#8217;s the most self-invented man in movies, this side of Charlie Chaplin. Like Chaplin, Cary Grant grew up poor, trained as an acrobat, and brims with confidence, romance, and a spirit of merry larceny#8212;he just has a better tailor. His impeccable timing and light, cat burglar#8217;s touch at stealing women#8217;s hearts were perfect for the jaunty heroics and romantic farce of such classic films as IAn Affair to Remember/I, INotorious/I, IHis Girl Friday/I, INorth By Northwest/I, IBringing Up Baby/I, and ITo Catch a Thief/I. In the end, the role became the man#8212;he had ceased to play #8220;Cary Grant#8221; and simply was Cary Grant. Finished reading it a few hours after I bought it on sale I didn't really learn new information but I'm happy with my acquisition. Nice selection of pictures. It's fitting that the first cinema related book I bought is about the first actor I held as my favourite. I really want to get the one about Ingrid Bergman, of the same collection
Cary, Cary, Cary--they just don't make pretty male actors with effortless class, charm and style like this man anymore. Deep sigh. Cary even said about himself, "You say everybody wants to be Cary Grant? Even I want to be Cary Grant." Look and drool people.
