5 Incredible Stars

Wowza, this was my first read by this author and I absolutely loved everything about this story! The characters were terrific, the storyline was intriguing, engaging, it kept my interest peaked from start until the very last word!!!! It was an incredible story filled with mystery, suspense, it was filled with some of the best erotic sex that I have read in awhile and let me tell you it was just terrific all aroud!!!

Dax and Angel were PERFECT throughout the story and PERFECT for each other. The sex between these two was like a raging five alarm fire! The scenes were written beautifully, erotically and I know I was completely turned on, lol!!!!! What I loved even more was there was so much more to the two of them than just the incredibly HOT sex scenes, their relationship although built on "lies" at the start bloomed into something so beautiful and unique and selfishly I just want so much more of them in the future books!!!!! I want it all, the marriage, the kids, you name it, for them, I want it all and forever because they were just that magical together:)

Congrats Author Jessie Cooke, you nailed this story for me in SO many ways and on so many levels and you now have a fan for life!!!!!!! GRAND-SLAM for me:)

Title: Dax (Southside Skulls MC Romance Book 1)
Author: Jessie Cooke
Genre: MC Romance
Rating: 3/5

This is a new author to myself and it's the first in a new MC series.

A compelling read filled with danger, pain and betrayal the author managed to capture my attention and keep it all the way throughout, once I started reading I found it hard to put down being a fan of the MC genre I can honestly say this one didn't disappoint.

Angel an undercover cop infiltrates her way into the Southside Skulls MC with the intention of bringing them down but what or rather who she didn't count on was Dax and the fact she'd fall in love with him. Dax is the president of the MC and nothing comes first before his club but Angel turning up changes things for him however their happiness isn't straight forward like I said as well as danger and betrayal etc there were many twists and turns.

I did enjoy Dax and look forward to seeing what's next for the Southside Skulls.

The book was okay. I personally skimmed 1/4 of the book because it seemed to drag on and I hated reading Angel’s POV.
Now before I read books, I read the reviews. For this one everyone was saying they loved Angel because she wasn’t a doormat and she was strong... stuff like that. Which she was, don’t get me wrong, but she was also a two faced b*tch.
She was reporting Dax’s and the clubs activities to the police even after she realized she cared for him and his club. She kept saying she didn’t want Dax to get hurt or for anything to happen to him, yet she kept ratting him out and hurting him by getting his brothers killed or arrested. She had the audacity to be offended and hurt when he questioned her or was suspicious of her. She got her father killed, because she didn’t give the police all the information. She was a plain two faced person who didn’t know how to make up her mind on which side she was on.

Add to the fact the story kept jumping around between past and present, it made you feel like you were missing something so you have to go back a few times to make sure you’re not!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

My first book of this author and I have to say I liked it.

Angel was offered a chance to prove herself and she was introduced to the Dax president of the Southside Skulls MC Club.
Dax is the president of the Southside Skulls and he is no set on legitimizing the club and moving forward but its actually being a real mission and a pain with all the heat the club is taking right now

But From the moment that Dax and Angel met they have this instant attraction but how real is it all when Angel is there to do a job and hiding why she is there.

But with any MC Story there is drama, twists and turns and so much WTH moments that you wont be able to put it down.

Not bad for a start to a new series and can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

A new to me author and think I'm going to love her books.... I want them all or at least all the MC books!! Took me a couple of chapters to get into her writing style but that's the way it is if you haven't read her before. I didn't think I was going to like the back and forth of the time line but it worked out great.
This is Dax and "Angels" book. Dax is the president of the MC and Angel is ???? Not going to say but you'll understand why when you read this.
There is a big mystery to this book but you won't even realize that until much later. I didn't even figure out the bad guy until right before she did. There was suspense and heat... OMG it was burning hot. If you don't like sex scenes and dirty talk this book is not for you.
I only have one complaint. After a big fight near the end I wanted to know more of how they went about working out their problems.
Book two here I come

Angela Davis needs to start a new life. Undercover and trying to infiltrate the Southside Skulls MC may pose more difficult than she thought. Especially since their president Dax is something to be reckoned with. The lines are blurring for Angel.

Dax's father was betrayed by a man that he thought had his back. Growing up in the club life wasn't hard. His father was the best man he knew -- a hero in a son's eyes. The man who killed his father better watch his back. His time is limited and Dax is the owner of that time. Angel has changed his life though -- maybe she is the one -- maybe she will understand or maybe his path should be different.

I didn't dislike this book but I felt there could be more to the characters. I look forward to reading the next and think that this will be a good series as we continue to get releases. Thank you for the ARC and the chance to read. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath the Sheets.

DNF. I've read a lot of MC books, and this book, and series, looked promising but there's no way this book was feasible.

First off, it is highly unlikely that an experienced cop, even on a first undercover assignment, would've fallen so quickly for the president of the MC. Secondly, if he was any kind of president of a MC, he would've known she was a cop. She just happened to show up at the bar that they hung out at? Uh huh.

I read ahead to get the gist of what happened and there's no way this would've happened in real life. I realize it's a novel, but make it somewhat believable.

This book had so many unresearched plot holes and unlikely twists and turns that I just skimmed it to find out what happened when Angel confessed and it was as unlikely as the rest of the book. Dax did not seem very Alpha to me and the ending was so unlikely it was a let down. Not my cuppa.

Ok, let me just say this from the beginning, because I need to shout it out... I'm a sucker for MC books. I love them a lot and I can't have enough of them. And when I had the chance to put my gready hands onto this baby I was beyond excited.
And girls!!! With a cover like this one!!! Who wouldn't love it as well...
Jessie Cooke is a new author to me and I know that even without having read any book from her that I would love every single one.
Her writing is intense, hot, with a little seriousness into the mix. Her words have the ability to strike a nerve and make me sad, or happy or seriously nervous.
Dax it's her latest release and oh boy!! What a release...
Dax is the President of the Southside Skulls. He's used to this life, mainly because he grew up in there. His Dad was murdered by his best friend. And this so called best friend is still giving a hard time to Dax. He had his share fare of woman but he don't want commitment. He's wild and free and wants to keep going but when he meets the beautiful Angel...
Cecelia or Angel, the nickname her dad gave her, lives in a world dominated by man. She's a police officer and being a female she needs to prove herself a lot. She always wanted to be a cop mainly because she wanted to follow her dad's footsteps. The ultimate job would be to do an undercover mission and expose the Skulls MC. And for that a new identity was created so that how Angela appeared in the picture. But when she meets Dax...
What will happen? Can Dax fall in love? Or can Angel do the same? Can he forgive her betrayal? Will she runaway and never come back?
Sweet Jesus what a book this was. I'm still shaking from the intensity of it.
I just love a story that is told on the third person because it looks like someone is on my hear reading it to me.
The plot was extraordinary, the time line was perfect and the story progresses smoothly. We had some bumps in the road and I'm so happy for them.
This book has the total package because you will find love, loyalty, friendship, family but also hate, betrayal, crime and some pretty crazy people. Just saying.
One thing that I need to shout is that the hot scenes are described in a way that will leave you breathless and with the need for a very cold shower.
Jessie this was the best way to know your work and I can guarantee that I'll be stalking you from now on.
Can wait for Cody's story. Will it take to long to arrive? I really hope not.

description

Dax was a great 5 star read and book one in the Southside Skulls MC.

Angel is a cop and was offered a great opportunity to go undercover and infiltrate an MC.
She didn’t expect that the first one to really notice her in the bar would be Dax the MC president. He was hot and she was instantly attracted to him.

As she grows closer to Dax she is starting to fall for him but yet trying to keep her team in the loop on any criminal activity that she can get intel on.

I’m falling in love with him. God help me, I’m falling in love with a criminal….and I don’t want to stop.

Will Angel be able to leave when it’s over? What will happen if Dax finds out who she is?

This was a great thrilling read with a lot of hot sex and twist and turns with some shockers as well. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. We do get a HEA which I was very pleased with. Jessie Cooke does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

***4.5 Stars!***

This was my first read from Jessie Cooke and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised! This was book was very enjoyable and different from the other MC books that I have read in the past.

The main characters were great and the story flowed well. Angel Brady goes undercover to get incriminating evidence information on Dax Marshall’s Southside Skulls MC. There’s a war brewing between the Skulls and rival club Sinners and the local police needs to put a stop to it as the body count is rising. Angel plays her part very well but she didn’t anticipate on actually falling for Dax. Their chemistry was through the roof! Angel knows that falling for Dax is dangerous but that doesn’t stop her at all. It’s really hard to do the review and not give away the story! As the plot thickens and once the investigation is over, can Angel continue as a cop and forgo her feelings for Dax and can Dax forgive Angel once he realizes she is not who she claims to be?

I highly recommend this book! You won’t be disappointed. I am so looking forward to Cody’s story and I hope we will have it really soon!

4 Stars!

4 Stars from Brianna!

Jessie Cooke is new to me and considering I'm not a huge mc reader.... she seriously impressed me. Suspense. Intensity. Passion. Eroticism. Cooke took me on an unforgettable ride that I didn't want to end.

Dax was a fast, sexy, and addicting read that hooked me cover to cover. Angel and Dax were a breathe of fresh air for this genre... with lots of twists, turns, and secrets that kept me captivated cover to cover. And Dax, swoon, swoon, swoon! Ladies, hold on to your panties tight.

He's the president of the Southside Skulls.
She's undercover, infiltrating his club.

Sparks fly. Chemistry explodes. Hearts are on the line.

Lines will be crossed. Boundaries will be drawn.
It's about to get twisted , complicated and real.

Hold on to your seat and really the panties are useless. Dax and Angel are here to tell your their story and what an impressive one it was.

Excited for book two... and that baby landing on my kindle!

I definitely recommend this book.

This is a new author to me, and my word, what an introduction it is! Dax is the president of his MC, and when Angel is offered something she cannot refuse, these two meet. There is intense and explosive chemistry between these two. No spoilers though, if you love MC stories then give this one a go!!
This author has done a great job in writing this storyline, which is intense, and with twists, suspense, and love, which had me hooked and enthralled throughout. This is one rollercoaster journey you do not want to miss! Looking forward to reading the next book in this awesome series.

I had a hard time connecting with this book, without giving anything away I will say that the writing is very well done, the story full of twists and turns and angsty and sexy moments. I have a hard time with starting at one point in a story and then going back in time--- if I were to give anyone a warning about this book, it would be that. All in all I LOVED the story but the back and forth left something to be desired and was completely just a personal preference.

Jessie Cooke is a new author and I loved this book. It had everything a great MC book should have. Loyalty, betrayal, love, violence and steamy sex scenes. Angel goes undercover into the Southside Skulls MC Club and Dax, the President, meets her in a bar and the sparks fly. Can she keep business and love separate? Once the drama hits the fan and Dax discovers Angel's real identity, can their love see them through? I recommend this book. I read it in one sitting, the suspense was off the charts.

First lets start off by saying this is a new author for us and we loved our first read by them. For some reason I have been reading a lot of MC romance of late as it has all the elements I love in those kinds of books and is becoming one of my favorite genes to read and this author did not disappoint.

I loved Angel and Dax from the onset.Angel was the sweet and kind, smart, sexy witty, and found herself having a thing for bad boys. Dax well he was swoon worthy, had a Dominate personality, had a dangerous aura about him but most of all he seemed to be a totally different person around Angel.Angel made him feel things which you saw him struggle with on how he was handling those feelings. Most of all I loved seeing him happy as you had some idea that his life and not full joy or happiness.

I loved the chemistry this couple had between them as it made for some really hot sexual encounters and their we many of them.Holy hotness!

I really enjoyed the plot as you were on edge the entire story waiting for the axe to fall. This wasn't the kind of love story that had you thinking about happily ever afters. The story really was a page turner from beginning to end and had you engrossed the entire time.

My heart went out to Angel as you felt all of the things she was experiencing emotionally with the conflict of her doing her job and her love for Dax. Once the secret is exposed my heart broke for Dax for one he completely opened himself up to Angel let her in and trusted her completely and two after the childhood he had he actually opened his heart to care about someone and when he fell for her he fell hard. The devastation he felt at her betrayal was heart breaking .I think my eyes starting tearing up as it was the most emotional scene in the entire story.

I loved when you can connect with the characters that you read about and I was able to do that with this couple.I loved them from the start and when that happens I know that I am going to love the story from cover to cover.

Other than saying wow and that don't know what else there is left to say. This story was action packed ,had drama, surprises, secrets coming to life and one really big OMG moment that I did not see coming.I have to say I loved the ending as well as that was another OMG moment. I never saw it coming but, I loved how everything had turned out in the long run.

Well done loved it and we recommend this read to all. Can't wait for the next installment in this series.

Enjoyed Dax southside skulls motorcycle club , usually try to stay away from this kind of storyline but something was telling me to read this and I'm so happy that I listened to my gut . Angel is a very pleasing heroine adored everything about her she's so fearless and when it comes down to it she fallows her heart , tough as nails ,and has a back bone .Ok I need a Dax in my life when he's described I started to drool and when he opened his mouth I fell in love , what I would do to sit on the back of his bike lucky Angel . When they meet it starts with an electric charge between them the sex is very steamy so be prepared to fan yourself (wink) . As the story progressed I started to get a bad felling the more the heroine hid who she really was and when it comes known just wow my heart went out to them both . This would be my first read by Jessie Cooke and I plan on reading more especially this series .

He's the president of the MC, she's the undercover law enforcement officer sent in to get dirt on the club so the law can take them down. She's engaged to a detective on the force who also works on the task force she's assigned to. He knows she's sleeping with the enemy. She falls out of love with the fiancee. She falls in love almost immediately with Dax, the prez. But, she keeps on feeding information back to the task force even when Dax tells her he knows she's hiding something. She is torn but she keeps on gathering intel and feeding it back to the task force.

It's a pretty long story but it seems to be rushed in the last few chapters and everything was quickly wrapped up. Dax forgives her and she leaves her law enforcement job and becomes his wife/old lady.
I really didn't like Angel very much. Yeah, she's a kick ass heroine but when she continued to work undercover after she falls in love with Dax, it just kind of turned me off. It is a book that will keep you engaged figuring out who's the villain and who's pulling the puppet strings.

Let me start out by saying I love MC books/series. I have read alot of them. Some good and some not so good. This book falls into the not so good for me. This book took me a week to read. I never take that long but I wanted to finish it. I don't like not finishing a book. I liked the concept of this story a girl cop going under cover to infiltrate a MC and falls for the bad president of the MC, however in my opinion he was a wimp and the end....... really?????? I will not continue to read this series. This is a 3 star read. Sorry

It started out with a bang but it just fell apart . The characters were under developed and the stories needed further exposure. The jumping around to emotion and places was a turn off. I have no interest at this point to read the next one in the series. The sex tossed in there.

This is the first time I have read a book from this author. I truly love MC books and this is why I chose to read a book by this author. For me there was some things I loved about the book and some I would of preferred changed.

Don’t get me wrong. I truly loved the story. Dax and Angel were amazing characters, but first let me tell you what I would chance. This is a personal preference, I prefer to read the past and then go to the present time. In this book it bounced from past to present. I do understand why the author did this. She sync the past and present stories well. As I said it is a personal preference and I would of preferred to read all past first and then more to the present.

The only other thing I would of like to seen changed was Angel Brady was I would like to see her not so naive when it came to Dax. She thought he would not just kill someone. Dax being a the Prez of the MC and Angel being a street cop for 5 years she should of known this and not looked at him with rose colored glasses. So I would did not buy the whole naive thing on him not killing.

Now to get my thought in the characters. Dax Marshall was freaking sexy. He was the President of the Southside Skulls Outlaw Biker Club. He was tough, fair, and willing to do what ever he needed to protect the club. I truly loved Dax’s character. Underneath that hard shell was a tender and caring heart. He might not of let to many see it but you will get to see it with not only Angel but with young 15 year old girl as well.

I hated Micah who was Angel’s boyfriend. When reading the book you will see that there was not a spark with Angel and Micah. You will also be able to tell there was just something not right about this guy.

I loved Angel’s brothers. They might of been a pain and treated Angel like she was a little girl but they truly loved her and would do what ever it took to help her and keep her safe. I personally would love to see a series come out concerning these brothers.

Angel is a cop and will get a chance to go undercover. If this opportunity was never offered she might of never found Dax and most importantly found herself. To me Angel was living for her father and her brothers. She was following in her father’s footsteps by being a cop but I have to wonder if this was truly what she wanted.

I loved reading the struggle that Angel was having with herself. Here she was suppose to try to get info on the Skulls to bring them down but yet here she is learning the men and falling in love with Dax. So when reading this book you will see her torn between doing her job or going with her heart.

When reading about the lies and deceit I had to wonder if Angel would destroy everything she had with Dax by the time it was all over with. There was so much that happened. Lives that were lost. There is just one thing after another. Everything can destroy Angel and Dax’s relationship. Will they survive?

Like I said I truly loved this story. It was a book worth my time and glad I took out time to read it. There will be lies, deceit, hurt, heartache, pain, loss, betrayal, love, and forgiveness. You will get what you crave when reading a bad boy MC book. You will also have the hot steamy parts you crave as well. I am truly looking forward to the next book in the series.

Dax is the first book in the Southside Skulls MC series.

Going undercover to infiltrate the Southside Skulls MC, Angel Brady knows this is her chance to prove herself to her force. Being that two of her brothers and her father are on the same force is also a hindrance to her progress. As soon as she steps into the downtown bar and see Dax for the first time she knows this is going to be a challenge.

Dax is the president of the MC ever since his father, Doc’s, death. Trying to steer the MC into another more legal path is hard, especially with the conflict with a rival MC and issues from the past coming rushing into the present. His extreme dislike for Hawk, his father’s one time best friend, and now his rival, is one thing that is keeping him focused on alienating Hawk and his men. When a contact keeps passing jobs to both of them then things start to unravel at a heady pace. Throw into the mix the new object of his desires, Angel, and everything is giving Dax a whole lot of complexities in his life.

Angel is finding her growing attraction and intensity towards Dax is impacting on her role in getting information from the MC to her employers. With her brother and her boyfriend Micah being privy to all that is going on, makes for a difficult task. The more involved Angel gets the more she is thinking that maybe this would be taking her to a another level in her life plan.

This was a complex storyline with lots of twists and turns being thrown in. There was an element of mystery and drama, especially on finding the mysterious ‘Dan’ who seemed to hold the key to resolving what was going on. However there were too many hints that gave away his identity to me fairly early on. I was also unclear on how the relationship (and a hot one at that) between Dax and Angel could carry on, especially once he learned her true identity.

The ending was a little rushed for me and I did feel there needed to be much more soul searching and anger on page rather than off page as it was explained in a retrospect explanation.

Overall though this was an engaging read and I liked it was a little different to other MC reads. I loved both Angel and Dax and I liked the chemistry and interaction between them. If they had been a better resolution (well more in the way we got the HEA) then this would have been a 5 star read but overall I would say this is a 3.5 – 4 star read. I look forward to the next book so hopefully we get to find out more about the rest of the MC.

Dax KU, 340 pgs ***.* Dax & Angel
3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book a lot but there was some negatives like there was so much sex, it left very little room for them to really get to know each other and have conversations about anything. It was almost like every 10 pages; the author copied and pasted the last sex scene with a few changes and that would go on for another 10 pages. By 50% mark, I thought it was just going to be story ever couple of pages then 10 pages of sex. I was getting frustrated because there was not enough story and dialogue outside of all the sex. I ended up skimming or skipping a lot of sex scenes trying to find my way back to the actual story. The last 25% was great. The MC action, police, everything was action packed. I got to know Angel’s family more and even one of the bad guys I ended up liking. The writing was good, character building was great, the characters were easy to identify with and I became wrapped up in each of their parts in the story. In the beginning, the sex was, OMG, slow, hot, romantic, give you chill bumps good. There was so much chemistry between the 2 H’s, you could almost feel their heat, physically but what’s the old saying, “if a little bit works, a lot will work better”, well that didn’t work in this book. I felt like I got most of the actual story in the last 25% of the book. I will probably read the next book since I did enjoy this one.

Story: good but I needed more story than was given
Sex: way too much sex, pages and pages of sex instead of story; became monotonous.
Romance: Dax was so romantic! Who’d a thunk it!
Characters: I loved the characters, Dax, Angel, her brothers, the MC men and women
Chemistry: very “hot” chemistry, enough that I could feel the burn when they were together.
MC action: There needed to be more action with the MC. There was action but not really with the whole MC, the MC was a little tame for my liking.
Violence: There was some violence but mostly it was told as an “after it was done” kind of thing. Most of the time, you only got the results, not really the actual doing of the deed.

Angela “Angel” Davis is trying to start a new life is a new town. Getting away from the troubles of her life. Stopping for a drink helped her in moving on by introducing her to Dax Marshall, the president of the Southside Skulls Motorcycle club. The attraction between the two was instantaneous and as hot as a raging inferno. Dax does things to her that are more than she has had in the past and he causes her to be conflicted. Fighting her heart and her head are hard. Factor in the fact that she is an undercover cop to obtain information to potentially bring down the Skulls, and a whole new set of complications arise.

Dax grew up in the club life. His father was his hero and his betrayal and death by the man that he thought of as his friend is something that is unforgivable to Dax. Hawk’s days are numbered, and Dax wants to be there when his number comes up. Now as the President of the Southside Skulls, he working to more legitimize the club with the heat that is coming down on them. Now that Angel has walked into his life he has begun to think even more that this is the path to take and she is the woman that will stand by his side. Hopefully forever.

This is the first book that I have ready by Jessie Cooke and I was highly entertained. There were times that I thought Angel just needed to be smacked down because she started acting a little whiny, but she would pull it out in the end and show how strong a character she is. Her conflict throughout the book brings a complexity to it, especially with the interactions of her boyfriend and her family, that made me think everything was about to end. I was happily surprised about the twist towards the end that I did not see coming. I was actually pretty shocked about it. There is danger within the story, as well as pain and betrayal. Once I started reading I wanted to continue because I needed to know how it ended. And this is an HEA, so there is no continuation (YEAH!). DAX was an interesting story and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
