Flying sightseers over California is part of helicopter pilot Lacey Sander’s job. The other part is denying her attraction for hot-bod fellow pilot Adam Swank. A painful experience has taught Lacey never to date her co-workers. So regardless of how sizzling the sparks are, she will never go there again. But when they team up to close a business deal, Lacey can no longer resist Adam’s steamy kisses or sensuous lovemaking under stars on the beach of a private island.
Adam The Deal-Maker has the gift of persuasion. Except when it comes to Lacey. For five years they’ve been dancing around a fiery attraction. Now he has her right where he wants her—in his arms—but can he persuade thrill seeking Lacey to accept his deal and take a chance on an office romance?
Monique DeVere writes funny, feel-good romances with heart, hope, and a dash of sass. A true romantic, she believes falling in love should come with belly laughs, awkward moments, and that delicious slow-burn sizzle. Originally from Barbados, Monique lives in the UK with her real-life hero, their four grown children, five grandchildren, and an adorable Yorkie. She loves writing stories about strong, smart heroines and the swoon-worthy men who fall for them—whether in rom-com, contemporary, or inspirational suspense. When she’s not dreaming up emotionally satisfying love stories, she’s collecting new ideas, enjoying family time, or learning something new.
ADAM: Her Deal Maker is sexy and sweet with realistic characters and an engaging storyline. Lacey is an adventurous woman, not really a thrill seeker or an adrenaline junkie, but definitely someone who enjoys life. Adam is the opposite, he's staid and stoic and very by the book. They have a case of the lust for each other, but neither has ever done anything about it. Lacey, because she's been burned by a coworker before, and Adam because Lacey is too adventurous for his tastes. But, when they're stuck on a business trip together, the attraction burns too hot for them to resist and they finally give in. Alas, Adam runs and Lacey is even more determined after that to avoid her sexy coworker/co-pilot. Fate has plans for the two of them, though, and throws them into the hot seat again, when they're forced to be in the same place, to rely on each other to survive.
But, how can two mismatched opposites ever possibly hope to make a relationship work when one won't accept the other the way she is? The way she has the right to be? When Adam cannot see past his past and grab for the future Lacey could give him if only he'd let go of his demons and just live? Oh those two! I wanted to smack Adam a few times and yell that he needed to get his head out of his ass and take hold of what was right in front of him. But, other than that, I really liked him, and Lacey. They're opposites, sure, but really matched well and their chemistry is hot.
I liked ADAM a lot, and am definitely looking forward to reading Dillon's story (DILLON: Her Rule Breaker). Thank you Monique for this sexy, sweet story.
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
Wonderful love story. Lacey is a pilot working for her father who owns Pleasure Flights. She flies helicopters taking tourists sightseeing around the California coast. Adam also works for Pleasure Flights and has attracted Lacey for the five years they have worked together. However, since she was once betrayed and humiliated by a co-worker years before, she won’t get involved romantically with a co-worker ever again. Until, they are in DC at a conference and he accidentally sees her naked after a shower and she walks out of her bathroom to see him half dressed in her hotel room. Adam has his own hang-ups about Lacey because she is a lady who likes adventure and enjoys activities that he considers dangerous. After a steamy encounter together, Adam flees saying it was a mistake. All goes back to somewhat normal until they are assigned to fly to a private island to negotiate a contract with a wealthy hotel owner. They have to parachute out of the small plane before it crashes and have to rough it for a while before being rescued. To find out how they eventually get their HEA you have to get the book. It is great reading. I received a free copy of this book and am writing a voluntary review because I want others to know how good this book is. I highly recommend this book.
What a fantastic read. There were moments when I laughed so hard that I had to stop reading. The story is told from both POVs. I love that. I feel more connected to the characters. This isn't a cookie-cutter romance book that seems to be flooding the market of late. This one is so down to earth kind of story. The characters are heartwarming and the story so real. I really hated to see the story end.
I highly recommend this book to anyone. I read a few pages of the next book and boy looks like another winner to me as well. Off I go to get a copy of that one.
Adam: Her Deal Maker (Pleasure Flights Book 1) by Monique DeVere Page is that rare find (a new romance author that actually writes really good romance) that actually makes it to my own Author's to Watch List on the first book that I read. Upon reading the final page my immediate reaction was mixed 1) sorrow that the story was over, 2) Wow factor over the moon and 3) excitement for what her next book would hold.
Adam and Lacey, the characters in this first book had chemistry from the moment that they met With that chemistry comes sizzle and hot steamy sex, need I say more.
I don't post spoilers, nor do I post synopsis of story line - read the author's blurb for that. I do post my immediate reaction to the overall feelings that the book brings out in me, which brings me right back to "WOW".
So, yes, this author is on my top 15 of all time authors to watch for new material from (actually had to boot someone off to make place for Monique). I must think long and hard on whether or not to make that list longer, lol
Keep them coming Monique if they're all as good as "Adam..."
I received an advanced reader copy(ARC) of this book and voluntarily left posted review.
Adam and Lacey's romance has been five years in the simmering stage as co-workers at her father's company, and now the heat is turned up and things start to get interesting. Their chemistry is explosive, but neither one is ready to call it a relationship just yet. Lacey is a bit of a thrill-seeker and Adam has experienced the tragedy that sometimes comes from being overly adventurous. Lacey just wants to be accepted the way she is, so Adam has to decide just how much risk he's willing to accept. This was a sharply-written book with snappy dialogue and descriptive scenes that kept me flipping the pages until I'd read it all in one evening. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Super fun read!! Its awesome to see female characters with cool jobs- Lacey is a helicopter pilot. Her love interest also flies helicopters for her father's company. The heat between Adam & Lacey just about leaps off the page. The story is so entertaining.
I love their HEA & I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I've got a new favorite author.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Slow build to their romance because they fought their attraction while coworkers.. She's a thrill seeker and he just got burned by a sought after thrill.. Well written and very cute contemporary romance.
This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I think Monique DeVere did a really nice job with the cast of characters in this book. While Adam and Lacey were the leads the secondary characters were also interesting making the reader want their stories to. Lacey and Adam's journey to their HEA kept me interested and engrossed in the book.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
This might have been one of the weirdest books I've ever read. For me it had the feel of Bridget Jones's The Edge of Reason. By the time you got past the bailing out of a plane, desert island (but not really) survival/business deal, you were exhausted from forced drama to the extreme. I think the intention may have been good but the execution left me with plot whiplash.
A good book with likeable characters and just the right amount of conflict. I look forward to reading more by this author. *I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
