For thousands of years mankind has spoke of a legendary, mythical city lost beneath the waves. Now, that legend is no longer a myth.
Ethan Warner and Nicola Lopez are pulled out of hiding in pursuit of their greatest prize yet: the origin of almost every artefact they've uncovered in their investigations with the Defense Intelligence Agency. But now there is a new administration in Washington DC and the Russians are colluding with the White House to seek out the city for themselves. Obsessed with recovering the billions stolen from the corrupt cabal Majestic Twelve, men of power will stop at nothing to obtain untold wealth - even if that means all out war between east and west.
Caught in the turmoil, Ethan and Nicola are deployed to find the lost city before the Russians, but they're out on their own as America seeks revenge on their team. Hunted across the globe, the final showdown has begun. From India to the Aegean Sea, the fjords of Norway to the humid jungles of Indonesia, Ethan and Nicola must follow clues left behind 3,000 years ago by a Greek mariner, and everybody is out to stop them at any cost...
While this was a fairly typical action/adventure novel pitting a group of US scientists from a dismantled government agency tasked to research odd discoveries, a similar group of Russian military in a race to find a: Atlantis and B and more important to some, a vast lost treasure. The US group is trying to stay ahead of the Russians and out of the reach of the US government as they follow clues from ancient archeological sites around the world. However the different and interesting part of this tale is the extremely accurate description of the current US government and its un conventional leadership and a "disavowed" connection with the Russian government and the dismantling of established government agencies and reliance on "Fake News" to distract the populace.
Yes, this is another story about the mythical lost city of Atlantis. However, this book adds new and interesting twists to a story almost everyone has heard about. The action is never slow, the characters are good, bad, and the mislead. Don't mind the grammatical and spelling errors, because the story moves along fast enough for you to forget them. Also, this can be read as a stand-alone, if you haven't gotten around to the previous six books in the series.
0nce again, fantastic, you know i been reading this authors books, for many years now and the quality never moves from top class, not once in all these years, have i been bored when reading about warner and lopez, all it all a brilliant series which i would recommend to those who like this sort of thing, i just hope this is not the end.
A most enjoyable book drawing together one of the most ancient quests and also themes reflecting theories around contemporary USA / Russian political tensions.
