Every now and then, you come across a book that just resonates with you so deeply that you just can't escape the story. It consumes you because you relate to the tale so easily, and can even imagine yourself being in that very scenario. That is how I felt after completing Return To Us. It's rare to find a romance novel centered on a married couple, and this story was so gut-wrenchingly beautiful. The message is simple, but so very complex at the same time.

I was hooked on Tinsely and Matt's story from the prologue; although, I was expecting a very different tale to unfold regarding their marriage than what Pastore actually offered! With the first part set in the past, the reader sees the relationship between soap actress Tinsley and action star Matt develop from their first few meetings to taking the first steps in a romantic relationship. I felt their feelings start to develop, which is a huge draw for me. I hate being told; I want to see it happen. Over time, their long-distance relationship grow until we flash-forward a few years to them having marital issues. Is Matt cheating?

The second half of the story beautifully deals with how their marriage has broken down as a result of Tinsley's miscarriage, and how much they are both hurting. But as much as they both still love one another, they just aren't communicating. And that is such a realistic beat for Pastore to be playing. Sure, "Mattley" are A-list celebrities who have the paparazzi stalking their every move and the gossip magazines featuring a BS story on them every issue. And while we see some of how that affects their marriage, it's their extremely private issue that has caused the strife in their relationship. Are they both willing to make the sacrifices necessary to save their marriage and "return to us"?

From start to finish, Return To Us was a phenomenal story that I will definitely re-read again. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

**EDITED TO SAY THE FOLLOWING: THIS IS NOT A CHEATING BOOK!!***

I couldn’t wait for an author to tackle a married couple and how to keep their marriage alive, strong, and safe from insecurities. Well Ms. Pastore tackled it with Return to Us. If you had the privilege to have read Bound to Me, Healed by You or even the Unscripted Series, you have already met Matthew and Tinley. If you didn’t read the books I just mentioned, that’s okay too, because this is a standalone.

The Prologue sets the tone of Return to us and it is broken in two parts. Matthew Barber is Hollywood’s action actor, Tinley Atkinson is the woman that left her soap opera many years ago, yet their paths crosses in LaLa Land. Matthew, he’s quickly smitten with the hot blonde. They meet again and the attraction is potent, but Tinley is ever the cautious woman for sure, until she finally gives into the attraction.

Part One is the getting to know each other and falling in love. You have two actors trying to make a relationship grow without the paparazzis and tabloids trying to ruin everything. After three years of marriage and some personal heartbreak for Tinley, the relationship takes on a very big u-turn. Can their love story have the fairytale happily ever after?

Just because the setting is about two actors, doesn’t make the story not believable. Remember, actors are real people, with real struggles. We always see all over TMZ or tabloids of rumors of infidelity, but are they true? Do they love making up stories so they can sell a magazine? There may be some “truth” but not everything is all black and white.

When you read Tinley’s chapters, pay close attention, there’s a lot of struggle on her part and made the story/plot line very important. Your heart will break, but it’s the advice of all and new friends that help Matthew and Tinley.

Come February 22, 2018, hope up your heart and mind, below are my favorite quotes of the book. Can I say, that I loved seeing old friends from Ms. Patore’s previous books. They took struggled to keep a levelty in their own relationships.
Tinley’s quote:

I breathed his name like a prayer or possibly moaned like a whore. It was hard to tell the difference.

Ella’s quote:

Ella stood, shoving her feet into her high heels. “Choose happy and fuck fear.”

Charles quote:
“I hear that, but her pain is deep, to the soul, and you being hurt won’t help her heal. Put away your pride, and be the glue she needs to mend that chasm. I know it might be difficult, but the best things in life are.”

Grady quote:
“Alex told me a bit of advice that has stuck with me—love isn’t about who you see yourself with, it’s about who you can’t see yourself living without.”

Return to Us
By: Christy Pastore
5 Bullseye Stars

Christy Pastore can write an awesome Hollywood story. The characters are real, the story is believable, you turn the page one after another sucked into the world they live in just like it’s happening in real time. This is the 3rd book in this series. All can be read as standalones. Yet as we all know; the stories work so much better if read as a series.

In Return to Us, we get Matthew and Tinley’s story. Matthew the actor and Tinley the childhood actor who left and has now come back into the acting scene. Having been in the profession for quite some time, they both know that the tabloids are their worst enemy. Stories get fabricated from ex-employees wanting to make a quick dollar, to photos that are clicked at the perfect time to ‘make it appear’ as something it is not.

While these two are so in love, it’s hard to read the headlines, see the photos, listen to programs all spewing stories that are not true. But when your husband and you finally get a break in filming, to spend some alone time, it’s pretty hard to take it when he tells you that he had wanted to ‘cheat’ with his latest co-star. He didn’t but…. hearing those words from the person who promised to love you forever, next to you, in front of you, above the ground and below the ground….it hurts.

What this couple goes through is what so many couples who are not in the ‘spotlight’ go through. It was good to read how real-life struggles happen to the Hollywood Elite and what they do to try to overcome.

Out of the 3 books in this series, Return to Us was my favorite! True love does exist and when you truly love each other like Matthew and Tinsley do, you try to work through your problems instead of immediately throwing in the towel. Or you perfect your ax throwing and truly go for the bullseye!!!

The biggest cheater in this book is the author. I won't even give it the Cheaters Contrition Tour tag, and it's not worth a hate read.

The book opens with our Hollywood action hero husband and his TV star wife meeting in a restaurant at an airport. His flight has just come in; she's on her way out. This, we will come to realize, is one of the problems in their relationship: their careers keep them more apart than together. Another problem in their relationship is the celebrity gossip mill: he's working on a film in Australia with "Georgina Dupree," an Angelina Jolie-type actress/humanitarian/adopter of children from foreign lands, and all the blogs say their on-set chemistry is being pursued off set.

Sitting at the airport, looking at a gossip site on her phone which displays a picture of the hero with "his hands pushing through [Georgina's] dark hair, gazing at her the way he looked [at the heroine]," the heroine interrogates her husband:

"Did you sleep with her?"
"No."
"But you wanted to?"
"Yes."
"Are you in love with her?"
"I don't know."

Okay. DRAMABOMB. Celebrity relationship in trouble. The husband is attracted to another woman. I am now prepared to watch these two climb back to each other and resolve the pain of this moment. Instead, the dramabomb becomes a dud, displaced by + the tragic backstory.

So, that's it. Literally the last mention of the OW. From the dramabomb in the prologue to no actual discussion of the implicit emotional infidelity...ever. I can only assume that the protagonists were reading each other's internal monologues along with me to know that issue was safely and silently resolved.

For the HEA, the heroine drags out her tragic backstory as an excuse/apology for avoiding the husband after and they're both dialing down their careers so they can spend more time together. In one word: tepid.

Return to Us by Christy Pastore.

Return to Us was a breath of fresh air! Rarely do I see stories of married couples facing real problems and fighting tooth and nail to save their marriage. Matthew and Tinley were broken. Was it salvageable or had the damage been done?

I love how Return to Us spanned the entirety of #Mattley 's relationship. From the first pull towards each other to the very end, this style of writing had me vested. I was wrapped up in their romance and eager to see what would happen to them as they faced adversity.

Christy has a special talent when writing her heriones. They are strong, independent, and determined. Tinley has always been in and out of the spotlight. As we learn about the struggles she has overcome, we see the person behind the famous daughter and soap star. She no longer feels like a Hollywood star, but one of our friends.

Matthew brought out so much emotion for me! I swooned nearly every time he said "darlin' ", laughed at his witty comebacks, was disappointed in him but most importantly I was able to forgive him. Character development is where Christy excels!

Return to Us can be read as a standalone but I enjoyed seeing previous characters rally around their friends. Cheers to the Riot Club!

Sorry I was
Done when he said he wanted to sleep with the ow and he wasn’t sure if he loved her? There is no coming back from that, if he really loved Tinley, he couldn’t possibly think he loved someone else. I also think if the revelation had not come, and they talked about it, he may have slept with the other woman. I know there was other issues at play, but cannot trust or respect a hero who does not know his own mind or feelings! Also, I saw another reviewer saying don’t be fooled by people saying there is cheating, as if they are being misleading or deceitful. There is no physical cheating In this book, but there is 100% emotional cheating. Hence, the hero telling his wife he thought he loved another woman!

‘Panic swirled inside me, and the words tumbled out. “Did you sleep with her?” I asked, my eyes never leaving the phone screen. “No.” “But you wanted to?” “Yes.” “Are you in love with her?” I asked, finally looking up. Matthew twisted the platinum band wrapped around his ring finger. “I don’t know.” My hands shook as a breathy sob escaped my lips and my heart crumbled into a million broken pieces. “And you need to find out?” “Tinley”

‘I took a long heavy breath and let it out. “I don’t want to walk away . . . I hate feeling this way, Tinley, and my God, I hate that you’re feeling this way. You must hate me.” I squeezed her leg, and her muscles tensed under my hand.’

“No, I don’t hate you, Matthew. I love you, which is why it feels like I can’t get enough oxygen. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest—like someone is tearing off pieces slowly.” Her words hit my heart with a painful blow. My heart continued to crack and splinter with every word. “I didn’t cheat on you, I didn’t sleep with her.” “I almost wish that you had, to get her out of your system. The fact that you want to doesn’t exactly make me feel any better.” Tinley kept her eyes forward, never looking at me as she spoke. “You were the person who was supposed to choose me every day.”

‘After the miscarriage, Tinley wanted to be alone. She wouldn’t let me comfort her, and I needed her. Needed to grieve with her and she slipped away from me. We were two ships passing in the night. Perhaps I was looking for any kind of human connection, which is why I’d developed closeness with Georgina. When my wife wouldn’t talk to me, Georgina would.’

‘Georgina’s daughter, Paloma, had lost her birth parents when she was only six months old. Abandoned and in an orphanage, Georgina found her and fell in love. A wonderful story, and somehow the allure of family tugged at me, pulling me towards a mirage. It was inexcusable.’

It can't be easy being married to Hollywood's most sought after man, but Tinley was determined to make it work. The question is, is Matthew Barber willing to make it work?

Matthew and Tinley's story started out quite unexpected, and I mean that in a good way. We get to see them in their most troublesome moments very early on and what lead to that through out the book.

I loved the way Christy took us on a journey so we could understand their love and their hardship. Marriage in general is a lot of work, but being married to a hollywood star has to take its toll.

I really enjoyed Matthew and Tinley's story and I especially loved the writing.

husband /wife trying to live long distance relationship in the holly wood lifestyle, lots of separation, not enough time together to feel the deep connection. H admitted his attraction to his co-star to wife, spent more time with ow sharing so no physical cheating but definately emotional. I liked book but didn't feel situation was fully resolved, felt H would cheat physically at some point.

A far cry from the two Cardwell family books that I've read from Ms Pastore. It's like this book is written by a different author. I loved those two, I'm disappointed with this one. Fast-paced but with too many annoying fillers. 😐

Cheating is a sure drama and angst source but it can also kill the MCs' "love" that a romance reader is expected to believe.
Oh, I like drama and angst, alright.. But only if it's done right, and the issues are cleared and tied up nicely.

I love a good movie star romance and I was intrigued that this one was actually about a couple that was already married trying to save their relationship. As my first book by Christy Pastore, I was super excited to read it!

Tinley and Matthew meet and are instantly enamored with one another. Tinley can't believe she's with the man of her dreams and Matthew can't stop thinking about Tinley. With both of their schedules, though, it's hard to start a serious relationship. But they get married and really think they can make it work. Until life and conflicting jobs get in the way. Now, Tinley and Matthew are fighting to keep their marriage together while fighting the ugly rumors and gossip that comes with living in the spotlight.

I was so excited to start this book, but I think that the organization of the timeline of this novel really threw me off. We started off with Matthew and Tinley meeting for the first time and trying to start a relationship even tough they were both so busy with their own careers. Then, we skipped straight to their marriage troubles. I feel like we didn't really ever get to see these two as a couple or understand the breakdown in their marriage. We were only told snippets of how their marriage fell apart, but we didn't get to feel it as the reader. And the whole part where Matthew admitted he wanted to cheat on Tinley was just confusing to me. It was like they commended him for admitting it and he was never admonished for wanting to be unfaithful to his wife.

Also, I'm not sure if it's because this is book three in the series and I haven't read the other two, but I was really confused about some of the other characters and their storylines. At one point, someone is kidnapped by they don't really spend any time explaining that. It happened, and then they mentioned it again in the future of how it affected Tinley. I just didn't get enough information and didn't feel like I connected to these characters.

Overall, the format that this book was told was very hard for me to get into. I couldn't connect with these character's relationships or really grasp their marriage since we didn't really get to see them happily married or where it all broke apart. Some conversations didn't completely make sense to me and I just felt like something was missing as I was reading this one. I definitely want to pick up the first few books in this series to see if gaps are filled in, but I just couldn't fall in love with this story.

I absolutely loved this story from the start to the very end. I planned to read just a few pages of this story before I went to bed and before I know it was the early hours of the morning and I read the whole story. The author did a wonderful job with expressing the trials and joys of being in a relationship and the hardships that this particular couple experience throughout the story.

Tinley was a strong female character that I really connected with because of the way the author wrote her character in a way that it’s easy to understand her fears and worries.

Matt I completely adored and loved him form the moment we met him. I loved the way that he was determined to be with Tinley and find their relationship to work out.

Return to us is about Matt and Tinley who are both big members of the public eyes, Matt an actor working in big movies and Tinley an actress that works on television shows. Their relationship is constantly scrutinised by the public and constant rumours about them are splashed across the gossip magazines. Can their relationship survive the rumours that a circling around about their relationship?

Christy Pastore has written a story incredible well done. From the first page of this story, it started to play as a movie in my head because I could picture everything that was happening in the story. I could picture the relationship and the love that Matta and Tinley had for each other. I could feel the emotions pouring off the page that the characters were feeling. This story has to be one of my top reads for the year and I recommend everyone to read it,

***ARC Provided by the Author***

Tinley and Matthew are married at the start of the book and, as the blurb tells you, this is a marriage that is struggling, that is having issues with where they are and where they go from here. Tinley grew up in the public eye and has withdrawn from it. Matthew is Hollywood's current it man. So, they meet when they are pursuing different things in their lives, and this is a tension at the beginning, and throughout the marriage...balancing what they each want with the pressures of where they are in their lives, careers and marriage.

This book grabbed me from the beginning, and I was hooked from the last line of the prologue. You really know, as the prologue begins, where Matthew is in the marriage, and where Tinley is, both as a result and as part of how they got to where they are.

The book is told bouncing from present to different points in the past, although after the prologue, you spend a large portion of the book in the past with them getting together and getting to know the characters. And, what I liked about this is you have an idea as to where they each are in the marriage after the prologue, and while you are reading their relationship, their first meeting, the next ones where they start to seem like fate, to guessing middle names and coordinating schedules...you know where it is potentially going to end up.

I loved this. Especially as Christy Pastore is a new author to me, I was pretty sure they would work it out, but at the same time, you never know how an author is going to handle picking up a couple in the middle of a marriage that is at the point where they either need to recommit or walk away. Matthew is charming, and he loves Tinley...and she loves him.

The story is told in alternating POVs, which I think works well, as they deal with some rumors and some doubts and being able, as a reader, to know what is and is not true for each of them helps the reader stay on the side of them working it out, as you like both of them.

This is the first title I have read by this author, and I definitely enjoyed it.

This book was different from my normal romance reads since the main couple are married and established. I really liked the fact that we got to see what happens after the “happily ever after” so to speak. Tinley and Matthew have been married for awhile but they hit a bump in the road. I have to applaud Matthew for being brutally honest no matter how hard he ripped our hearts out. Yes, I’m talking about mine as well. ;)

As the story progressed we see the backstory and present. I really liked how the author developed the story and the characters and the changes throughout their marriage. I am not married but I could see myself in this situation and I loved how relatable these characters were and you couldn’t help but want them to resolve their issues. This is the second book by Christy Pastore that I have read and I really enjoy her writing and story telling.

If you've read even one of my reviews, chances are you know I cry. I have tears and they are not afraid to show up. Return to Us will bring them welling in your eyes, tracking down your cheeks, and considering a second round. Whether I'm sensitive or not, that prologue had me on edge. The edge of nausea and heartache. I can't explain other than to say 4 questions and 6 words had me wanting to vomit, hug Tinley, and rage all at the same time.

Did I mention this is my first Christy Pastore book? I have the others in the series but I couldn't wait, something about Return to Us drew me in and wouldn't quit. It's beautiful. It's sad. It's filled with that spark...The one that makes you think love is eternal and nothing will ever get in its way. But if you get to that part of the book that oozes love, you already know that it isn't exactly smooth sailing.

With a prologue that will hurt your heart, you know the bad is coming. You just can't imagine getting there. With a romance like this doubt and denial are strong, but Mattley is stronger. (I always thought the celeb couple naming was annoying but when in Rome...)

Return to Us may be the third book in the series but these appear to be interconnected standalone. I may not have been up on all the hinted comments but it didn't take away from the story at all. So if you are like me and too eager to wait, fear not. Return to Us will sweep you off your feet and restore your faith.

I had the privilege to read the three stand-alone books in this series back-to-back-to-back. Each book got better than the last. I think Christy saved the best book couple for the finale.

Matthew and Tinley. Their story is beautifully heartbreaking. The format of how their story is laid out was woven seamlessly between their past and present.

The emotions are high in this one. At around 83% I was in a public place reading and I had to try very hard to not bawl my eyes out. The love these two have for one another is what everyone is looking for, but being celebrities and having your life and struggles (true or rumour) splashed all over headlines isn’t what anyone signs up for. Reading about how these two try and find their way back to each other was intense, but refreshing if that makes sense.

I now am going to read Unscripted to finish at the beginning.

Just “ok”. Great background story of how the H and h got together. Then part 2 is currently where he had an emotional affair bc he wants to sleep with OW (and tells his wife) but hasn’t actually slept with her yet. But!! we don’t know how he got to this point. Later in the story, it’s written that he’s only friends with the OW (bc they’re costars in some show/movie) and seems to only tolerated her the entire time. Even as far saying it’s just the tabloids making an affair up.

More Than Hollywood Magic!

How is this my first book by Christy Pastore? Her words cascade over the reader with insight, vigor, and solace. This love story is beautiful. Experiencing the characters' unique perspectives is genuine and emotional.

Matt and Tinley are both successful and hard working. They are married and in the Hollywood spotlight. This book opens with a blow to their relationship and takes us on a nostalgic journey from their first meeting to present day. It reminds us that love is a verb. It is about action as much as connection. The amalgamation that is their relationship is tested. This story will make you smile, swoon, laugh, and cry. All the feels!

Miss Pastore's writing style and character development evoked intrigue and empathy and hope and joy. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

this book touched me so deep I had to take the night and just let it all soak into my thoughts. I woke up this morning still on a book high as I call it, I read this book in a few hours. I couldn't put it down, it consumed me from the first page all the way to the last. I could close my eyes and be in the same room as Matt and Tinley. I could and still can feel all the raw emotions they each had. being in a relationship going on 18 yrs, I know the ups and downs, I also know what it is like to want someone else other than whom you are with. I cried thru this book, I laughed, this is how I know this is an amazing book... when it touches me do deep that I feel every emotion as the characters do. this is a true love story, I read a lot of books and each always touching me in some way... but not do deep I have to take a full night to write a review. I am sad that the series is ending, but I am thankful it all at the same time. I will recommend this book to everyone who wants to read an amazing true to life love story with all the struggles that come with it. if I could give this book 10 stars I would.

This is my stand out favourite of the three books and not just because I loved Tinley and Matthew so much but i just felt connected to the emotions in this one the most.

I don’t often read about a married couple so I was looking forward to this one. The prologue gutted me, I was so ready to chuck rocks at Matthew because I’d formed an opinion about him and not a good one. I’m glad I stuck with it because I got was an honest look at two people who love each other but have along the way lost each other.

This was an incredible tender and poignant story about a couple having honest conversations about their life.

I enjoyed Matt and Tinley's story . Even thought they are famous and in the limelight everyday , they still have everday ups and downs like everyone else. I couldn't imagine being in there shoes having to watch everything you say and do . Both Matt and Tinley were drifting apart, and had to look back and make them see that they weren't meant to be and to fall back in love with one another. I really like that Matt and Tinley were a married couple in the book and that the author chose to write a story about the everyday troubles in a relationship. I must say out of the series I am team Matt all the way.

Wonderful story. Made me laugh, cry, and crave some tequila. Sad that my time in the harbor is over but I have such warm fuzzy feeling from the story.

This reminded me of Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I don't know why but I had heard so many rumors about these three and I can't imagine living through this myself. The AMAZING thing about Christy Pastore's celebrity characters is that they are all down to earth. You live through them as if they were your friends and neighbors. I have been bawling for the last hour trying to put my thoughts together. I just can't . . . I can't say anything that would make sense as to how beautiful this story was and how exceptionally crafted these characters are . . . Do yourself a favor and read this book. 5 "I can't believe it's over stars" WELL DONE!

Return to Us is MORE than your normal Hollywood Elite story... Yes, you get the stardom, the tabloid rumors, the flashy cars and multiple houses, but this one... IT’S ABOUT MARRIAGE! SURVIVAL! WORK!

Return to Us is heart-wrenching and gripping story of a married couple, trying to make it work. The spotlight there only enemy. Fighting to stay strong for one another while creating a communication barrier that neither knew existed.

It’s rare that you find a book that makes you think about your own life, but Christy Pastore, walks you through the lives of Matthew and Tinley, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. You feel this book. The butterflies during dating, the heartache when they are apart, the loss, the betrayal, their truths! This book is EVERYTHING, every marriage is about.

Return to Us is a story of two famous people, trying to live an ordinary life and winning!

A must read!

This story is fantastic. The book is divided into two parts - a then and now type format. Since Matt and Tinley have popped up throughout the Harbour Series we've wondered about how these two got together and we are not disappointed.

This was an absolutely amazing story.

From the moment the pair meet this story sizzles off the pages. From their meet cute to their fights, and to the heart crushing moments that they go through. My emotions were all over the place and my heart ached for both of them.

Kuddos to you Christy Pastore for writing this book. I loved it.

Loved the series

I loved all 3 books in stages. Starting with Book 1, then Book 3. Book 2 was epic. I had hoped that with all the support, Tinley had been more open to discussion instead of shutting off Matthew. HEA, definitely

“When you come out of the darkness into the light still holding hands”.

I have always wondered how Matthew and Tinley got together because we saw them make an appearance in the first 2 books. Matthew and Tinley both live in the Hollywood limelight but have never met one another until Tinley interrupts his date. He wants her right from the start and they are both intensely attracted to each other from that day forward. The first part of the book details how their relationship began and if they can become that Hollywood “IT” couple. They last half of the story takes you through their marriage journey and how they came to be two ships passing in the night. They are both trying to find their way through the darkness and how they came to be.

Matthew is Hollywood’s sexiest man who is sweet, handsome and a devil of a dirty talker. Tinley is Hollywood’s sweetheart who is beautiful, smart and can sweet talk Matthew anytime. Throughout their relationship there were plenty of ups and downs and it makes you hope they are going to get their acts together. Tinley takes grief to a whole new level for me and it made me understand her better. When people experience so much lost they figure out ways to shut down and Matthew tried to find ways to help her through. Tinley is a “runner” and avoider of issues that has created a fear of lost within her. Matthew never noticed this fear because you never really know someone no matter how many days you spend with them. Christy portrayed marriage in a way I love because we all know it’s not easy. There are so many things inside a marriage that we need to work hard at this story is a prime example. The main and supporting characters have a great family of friendships. I love their relationships within the circle and they protect one another through the tough times. Spending time with Matthew and Tinley in their story was a terrific way for me to spend some time to myself reading. Their story will give you hope that one problem may not destroy a marriage if two people fight for it.
