My dad was one of professor Potter's students who was sent then to London in order to gain practical experience in an architects' offices and building sites. In chapter 11 "Going Underground" professor Potter wrote about the conversation he had with my dad "Basit" after he had returned from his six months training.

A very interesting historical overview of architecture in Sudan through the story of Professor Potter the first head department of the architecture at the University of Khartoum. Which I didn't know actually he practiced architecture in Khartoum. I only learnt before that he designed the Exam Hall of UofK, but it turns out that he wasn't just the architect, he literally participated in the construction, he was all in all!
The book demonstrates the details of building the Exam Hall, along with Potter’s involvements in so many other things besides teaching architecture. Actually, he didn't overly elaborate on the nature of teaching and the design studio, which I wished he did, though he talked a lot about his students, whom they later became the pioneers of contemporary architecture in Sudan.
The illustrations of the book are very important to those who are interested in the history of architecture in Sudan. They are mostly drawings by his wife Margret Potter, another reason to like this book.
I guess the documentation work that has been put into this book is crucial for the research in Sudanese architecture because we obviously lack documentation. I was supposed to read this book during my master's dissertation, but I didn't have it at the time, and now maybe I'll go back and have a new perspective towards the history of architectural education in Sudan.
