Do you cringe when you see one Christian or one ministry criticizing another? Are relatives or friends making enemies when they tackle touchy topics like morality and politics? Is it better to speak out on issues that matter or should we just let our actions do our talking for us? It’s a global frustration and challenge for believers but many, even those who’ve loved Jesus for decades, are surprised when they read John Wootton’s new book, Messaging. The New Testament is actually overflowing with timely, specific wisdom for communication in the digital age! Using numerous familiar headlines from recent events, John Wootton guides readers through a timely four-part journey based on repeated, positive, and convincing patterns of New Testament instruction and experience. Along the way, Messaging draws the striking conclusion that the Bible is very clear on two key challenges we all face 1) How do we respond when fellow Christians say and do things that offend or upset us? 2) How do we express our concerns about culture’s moral and political decline? Before the next toxic Tweet, Facebook rant, or nasty election cycle, grab a copy of Messaging and grasp the powerful potential for resolving today’s tensions God’s way. Makes the perfect gift for the cable news junkies in your life whose blood pressure rises every time they grab the remote!
I just finished reading “Messaging; Why Audience Matters” by John Wootton ... 5 out of 5 stars ... a must read for Christ followers ... we have a voice; but know your audience before speaking, choose your platform carefully ... unity and healing through Christ's message is our goal ... packed full of scripture support (which I look for in a great book) ... highly recommend … As a Pastor, I'll be purchasing several copies and it will be added to Legacy Church's recommended reading list! I encourage you to read this book. Very timely topic and message. It’s perfect for small group setting, book club discussion group, church leadership group, youth and college/career groups etc. Why not use it for a sermon series as well?
This book was very challenging and inspiring. It had me at many moments underlining, post-it noting, with wows, oops, and yikes throughout. It was practical and brought often miss seen truth to light.
