He’s a country superstar; she’s a small town waitress. When the real world slams into their stolen dream, whose heart will be the one to break?
From NYT and USAToday bestselling Texas romance author Jean Brashear, a new and emotional Sweetgrass Springs story--with its own original love song!
Jeanette Carson has been a fixture as a waitress in Ruby’s Cafe ever since high school. Walker Roundtree is country music’s brightest star, known by all for his laid-back charm and irresistible appeal to the opposite sex. Ever since his first visit to Sweetgrass Springs, there have been verbal fireworks between him and Jeanette as she proved to be the only woman immune to his charm.
Now their paths have crossed in the outside world, and they’re seeing each other in a new light. Fireworks of a very different sort are sparking the sky—but then Walker’s world is upended by a tragedy, and the only one who steps in to help him is the very woman who swore never to put herself at his mercy. For a few days, they have only each other to rely upon, and these two lonely hearts find refuge in each other.
But all too soon, the real world demands its due, and their refuge is no longer private. The days of dreaming, the nights of yearning and hope face the harsh light of reality, and the only question is:
A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of New York Times and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear's writing career. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'—take that leap now.
Over fifty published novels later, the five-time RITA finalist and RTBookReviews Career Achievement Award winner has accumulated a whole passel of war stories to swap and loves nothing better than talking writing and books with readers and fellow writers.
And she'd still take that leap, war wounds and all.
Ms. Brashear has created a most remarkable place called Sweetgrass Springs. It's a very special spot in the universe where magic seems to occur, whether you're a believer or not.
Jeanette Carson has lived there and worked as a Waitress at Ruby's Diner for twenty years. But, Jeanette is troubled because she has never experienced life anywhere else. She handles her responsibilities at work with ease, and like a drill sergeant, keeps everyone on their toes. People are used to her tart tongue, yet seem to see what lies beneath.
Ruby Gallagher Howard, the moving force behind the success of Sweetgrass Springs, believes Jeanette needs to spread her wings and fly, so she pushes her to expand her amazing dress-making skills in L.A.
The resulting chaos will keep you in stitches laughing and grabbing for the kleenex crying. The few weeks she's spent in such a crazy city, has her on emotional overload, with the clear realization that she doesn't belong there. There's such passion in Jeanette just waiting to be released.
Walker Roundtree, every gorgeous inch of him, is at the peak of his singing career, known as the Love God of Country Music. Grateful for his success and wildly appreciative of his fans, he nevertheless yearns for a more peaceful pace. With Walker's visits to Sweetgrass over the years, he and Jeanette have always set off sparks, with insults flying and feelings deeply hidden. In L.A. for a concert, Walker is shocked to see Jeanette backstage dressed to kill, in one of her sexy designs.
This author's incredible gift for dialogue had Walker's voice in my mind as he exclaimed over Jeanette...”that is some dress”....with a light kiss on the lips, and a whisper in her ear, he says “wait for me, Slim.” My skin tickled as I heard him.
There are too many wonderful things I could say about Texas Charm, but I don't do spoilers. I adore Ms. Brashear's writing for many reasons, namely her humor, substantive characters, joy and passion she so freely expresses. This is a book NOT to be missed! Kudos ~ Bravo ~ wish I could give it 10 stars at least.
The stories of Sweetgrass Springs are always loving and sweet. Sometimes they are harrowing and unexpected. But this story is beautifully heartbreaking and heartwarming. This is a tale of highly successful country music star, Walker Roundtree, and a talented, bossy, seamstress & small town waitress, Jeanette Carson, finding each other. Walker has been drawn to Sweetgrass for a while. He's haunted the periphery of community days, weddings, special occasions bringing his help and music to a town that calls to his need for home. Sweetgrass is Jeanette's home, always has been. Her first foray to LA to spread her designing and seamstress wings indicates that she has the talent, but perhaps not the temperament for the LA lifestyle. When she & Walker just start to realize that together they can be the center of each other's lives, rather than at the periphery of others, tragedy strikes. The stress and grief their new relationship endures as a result of this upheaval is severe. Add the fact they have yet to learn to trust and communicate with each other and they seem doomed. But Sweetgrass is a place of healing, and the residents understand loving family and putting down roots. Tears of loss, tears of frustration, tears of joy are shed throughout this book. The good people of Sweetgrass are determined to help Jeanette and Walker find their way home to love. And they do it wonderfully.
Wow another Sweetgrass Springs story.....and what a way to continue this series! ! Jean Brashear, you know just how to take another long time town person and give them a chance at finding their HEA! !
This story is about Jeanette Carson, a home town waitress at Ruby's Cafe and fashion designer by night (but nobody really knows that except Ruby) . Ruby tells Jeanette to show her designs and finds everyone loves them and wants her to spread her wings. She goes to California but finds that she doesn't like how the upper crust treats her fashions and feels she doesn't belong there until she goes to a country concert and meets up with Walker Roundtree again....Walker came to Sweetgrass Springs to help build the town and to play at one of his friend's wedding and the sparks between him and Jeanette were off the charts.
When these two meet again the sparks are still there but Jeanette thinks she can never fit into Walker's world....will these two make a match and find there HEA or will she just go back to Sweetgrass Springs and back to the job at Ruby's????
So far this is my favorite Finding Home Boxed Set Two. Jean Brashear brought out my tears in Texas Charm. In my opinion this is a real tear jerker. I've been looking forward to Jeanette's story, she has intrigued me. I have loved Jeanette sense she was introduced. I love her prickliness, how she takes no crap from anyone and how vulnerable she is. I liked Walker how laid back he is, yet his loyalty to his employees and fans is good and bad, he needs to learn to stand up for himself. I liked Jeanette and Walker together and throw in Maisie it's the icing on the cake. I loved how when the chips were down Walker was there to do what was needed. By the end the tears were gone and I was smiling.
He's a famous country singer with a troubled past. She's a country bumpkin (she thinks) trying to be a designer in L.A. Then he needs her and she's a whiz at organizing and helping as a friend. Can it last,? Read and see. Some hot sex, laughter and tears. Highly recommend.
I have enjoyed all of the sweetness stories. This story with Jeanette is enjoyable it was great to see her not always with a sharp tongue and for her to have met her marched. I am looking forward to the next. Will Haley get a book?
I love all the books in this series but I've been waiting for this one Jean Brashear had me on a emotional roller-coaster and it was Fabulous! It's a must read and everything I looked forward to.
OMG! I loved this 23 book series but the last book was so beautiful. The story of Walker and Jeanette was so emotional and heartwarming. Was so nice to have most of the characters of Sweetgrass Springs have a part of this book. I can't find Texas Magic so apparently it isn't released yet.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all previous 11 books in this series but this one was breathtaking! I was moved to tears and moved to laughter as well. So delightful. I can't recommend this book and series enough!
This is such an excellent story and the way the people of Sweetgrass Springs supported Walker, Jeanette and Maisie was wonderfully written! I teared up multiple times while reading this book!
I loved this book, this series, this town. Everybody seems to have weathered some tragedy or other, in their life, and they show us how they dealt with it. It's not an easy thing to do, though
I absolutely love the Sweetgrass Springs Books. The stories are excellent never just the same old story. They are unique and make me happy. I wish she could write them faster. Loved the books.
Although Jeanette and Walker completely frustrated me at times, I loved this book. It made me smile. When I read the last page, I was sorry it was over, but I was still smiling.
Walker and "Nettie" both had fears that kept them from communicated. They would get right to that point, and either be interrupted, or pull away from the conversation.
Walter's niece, Maisie, was the sweetest thing and the cause of many of the smiles in this book. I am a real sucker for a romance novel with little kids in it.
Let's not forget the Sweetgrass Springs family. Supportive family, friends, and neighbors who provide love, friendship, advice, and loyalty to each other.
The only person I didn't like in this book was Dusty, Walker's manager. But, both Walker and Jeanette are better people than me. Lol.
I definitely recommend this book. It was hard to review it without giving away too much, and but still trying to convey how much I really enjoyed it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.
****UPDATE - Audio version**** 9/24/19 This was a first for me in my Audiobook journey. Not only was the narration awesome as usual, but the narrator played guitar AND sang a song. I think I read that he also wrote the song.
This narrator has great material to work with when narrating a Jean Brashear book, but he brings the characters to life! Whether the character is male , female, old, young, or a child, Eric covers all of the bases and never takes me out of the flow of the story as he changed from one character to another. I was thinking as I listened to this book that his narrator voice (reading background info, etc.) is even different from his character voices.
I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audio book received from the author.
I loved “Texas Charm”. Jean Brashear has a gift of being an awesome writer. When I start a story I am instantly wanting more. They are page-turners and/or hard to stop audibles. Jeanette, small town waitress turned big city fashion designer was a pleasant surprise to heart throb, Walker Roundtree. He saw her in fashionable clothes and certainly liked what he saw! Walker frequently showed up in small town, Sweetgrass Springs for charitable functions and to perform at his friends weddings. When he’d seen Jeanette, it was usually at Ruby’s Diner, where she worked as a waitress for many years. And she was never dressed as he’d seen her in the big city. She was there to design wardrobes for stars. Jeanette was missing Sweetgrass Springs. And wasn’t in her comfort zone in the big city. Walker and Jeanette navigated through life’s unexpected events. One of the life’s curve balls involved Walkers’ young niece, Maisie. She lost her Mom and Walker was next of kin to look after her. He loved her so much, but he had obligations to his Tour, - to his “entourage” and his fans. He employed many people and could not let them down, yet he also felt very responsible for his sweetheart of a niece who just lost her parent. To find out how the story unfolds, I highly recommend this book. I know I’ll be listening to this story again. I received a complimentary copy of this audible and choose to leave an honest review.
I so love my trips to Sweetgrass Springs. And this one did not disappoint. It was one emotional roller coaster. My goodness I laughed and cried so much reading this. I feel so sorry for Walker, for what he's been through in his life. And then trying to figure out what to do next after a tragedy struck. But Jeanette is there for him. Trying to find her way through life, achieve her dreams. But fate had different ideas. And their journey to HEA is a very bumpy one. Gosh but I cried so much reading this story. Jean Brashear has an amazing talent to suck you into her world, to feel the characters' emotions. I cannot wait to read what's next in store for Sweetgrass Springs.
Well Jean you really out did yourself with Jeanette's and Walker's story. You really managed to rip my heart out on that one. I listened to the song "Never Forever" several times before reading the book, as I was trying to get a feel for what this story was all about. There were some surprises in there. Each of your books gets better than the last - looking foward to your next one!!
This was an awesome read, of tragedy, love and the wonderful town of Sweetgrass. When love happens it hits with a bang. For anyone reading this. It may be short review but if you have been reading the series you will understand. And if you haven’t started the series... then what are you waiting for. Extra special is the narrator. Welcome to Sweetgrass.
Walker and Jeanette are from two different worlds but they could have something huge together. Walker is focused on his career, and he overlooks having a life outside performing. Jeanette does not want to stand in his way of the wandering life he continuously says he wants. I loved the concert and Eric did an awesome job narrating.
What a great story. Jean has the reader going through a lot of emotions throughout the whole book. The story was sweet and enjoyable to read. The characters I found to be very believable. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I love all the books in this series but I've been waiting for this one Jean Brashear had me on a emotional roller-coaster and it was Fabulous! It's a must read and everything I looked forward to. Jeanette's story was so worth the wait.
