Izal, Iz and Acira, are recovering from their injuries they sustained when a Dragon attacked their town, Lotus. After only a single days rest, Izal is already trying to prove that he can enter the Mage Race by foolishly challenging Brass to a quick duel. Izal has one week left till the race starts and he is nowhere close to the skill level of the other mages. Master Gaze has refused to train Izal any further in his wind magic, in protest to him entering the race, also in hopes that Izal will abandon his wild dream. Master Gaze has his own issues to deal with: the investigation into the Dragon incident as well as the Bortoise he was forced to end a week earlier. He sent some scouts to find the Dragon and report their findings to him, but Singe will not reveal his own findings about the Bortoise. The King has requested Master Gaze to appear in a hearing on both events in front of the Mage Council to explain his actions. The town's Guild Masters are in a state of unrest, because of all the attacks on the town's trade routes and surrounding villages. It is very reminiscent of events in the past after the great wars were still settling. With the Dragon attack and the Race just around the corner, the Town of Lotus is buzzing with energy.
