Devil's Riders #2

Ride With The Devil

Rate this book
I'm big and mean. I like it dirty. She's off limits and way too innocent. But I'd like to see someone try and stop me.

Janet

When my career as a dancer is sidelined due to an injury, I have no idea what to do with my life. My best friend Kaylie is dating the head of the Devil’s Riders, so I tag along when she hangs out at the club.

That’s when I see him. The one they call the Viking.

He never says a word, but his eyes burn into me. He watches out for me, even kisses me, but that’s it. The man refuses to take the next step.

I know he wants me. I just need to tip the big guy over the edge.

You know what they say about the big ones, right?

Jack

I’m big and mean and I don’t give a damn about anything but the Riders. But when the fiesty redhead shows up with the Prez’s old lady, I’m told to watch her.

Problem is, I can’t stop.

I want my eyes and the rest of me, on her. She’s a pain in the ass but that doesn’t change biology. She’s mine for the taking, and I’m going to take her up on the offer. For good.

I’m just not sure she can handle what I’m offering her.

Ride With The Devil is the second book in the Devil’s Riders series. It was previously released under a different title. It has been extensively rewritten and expanded. I can’t wait for you to read it!
Xoxox,
Joanna

P.s. I know I’m not supposed to pick favorites but here goes: Jack is my favorite hero ever. Nick from Slay Me is next, then Jace from A Bad Boy For Summer. And finally Cade from Go Big. Yep, two of them are the strong but silent type and two are over the top, cocky alpahs. So, go ahead and borrow my number one book boyfriend for a few hours! Enjoy! <3

I don't know wether to rate this book a 3-star or a 4-star but I thought I liked the first book better than this one because it took a long time for Jack to stop fighting his feelings for Janet.

So, the story was about Jack, 28 and Janet, 18.

Janet was from a wealthy family. She worked so hard to become a ballerina someday but because of an accident, an injury ended her dream of becoming one. Her parents din't care about her. All they cared about is what other people think.

Jack was the second in command of the SOS. He thought he's worthless and that he didn't deserve to be loved.

Janet's best friend, Kaylie was the SOS president's old lady (book1 H/h). Kaylie brought her at the SOS clubhouse and there, she met Jack.

They wanted each other but Jack fought his feelings for her. He can't stay away from her and yet, he was pushing her away from him. He even did something and also one of the reason why I rated this book a 3-star(see safety).

When her parents found out she sneaked out of the house, they locked her up in her room for days without water and food. And when she escaped, she fell on an underground prostitution ring run by a rival gang. But Jack saved her and didn't let her go after that.

It's HFN again but it's a continuation of book one but I hope all these couples would have their HEA in book three.

There's lots I could have liked about this, but it was just rather ridiculous instead.

Janet has meany parents.
Jack is really big with a really big dick and doesn't talk.
Janet's family is rich.
Jack is not.
Janet wanted to be a ballet dancer but her career ended with an injury. And injury to what? It's never said and she never behaves like she has an injury... like at all.

instalove/obsession
Jack pushes her away for her own good 'cause he's not good enough, blah blah blah.
She gets locked up by her evil parents and it was just stupid, stupidity after that.
...complete with sex traffickers and amazingly inept villains.
Wow, it's impressive how she can function after 4 days without food or water...

Lazy writing.

Safety is good but who cares...

Having been disappointed with the previous book Wanted by the Devil no one was more surprised than me when I decided to continue on and read this one.

Janet is a friend of Kaylie's who finds herself back in town and very attracted to the 6 foot 4 inch man known as Viking.
Viking or Jack is a huge man of few words, he drinks ginger ale and watches and protects his club, it's all he's got in his life and it's all he feels he deserves.
As we get to know Jack we realise he deserves everything and he wants Janet as much if not more than she wants him.

I really liked Jack and Janet was okay just not that bright.

Again this book ended early, 63% this time which I find incredibly annoying.

Still Waters DEFINITELY run deep!! Jack is very VERY dry, to say the least...life dealt him nothing but crap hands until he found his MC family. He doesn't talk , he doesn't associate with women unless its as a receptacle for his baser needs...he dislikes any kind of confrontation that cant be handled with his fists...But seeing his Pres with his old lady just stirs feelings he refuses to acknowledge! still ...he just feels dissatisfied with his life suddenly...

Then Kaylee walks in with her best friend Janet , she stirs unwanted feelings & emotions in him that he has never EVER felt before...he tried to fight it...being an a-hole did not seem to affective with her..no matter how hard he fights it, he can't seem to stay away...the thought of anyone else showing her attention of the male variety boils his blood...makes him wanna kill..

he pushes her away & then she ends up in danger....that was all the wake up he needs...Jack to the rescue!!

I will say this..book one in my honest opinion was way better TO ME!!! but I still love Jack..lol even though he is an enigma..quiet...reserved & very dangerous...the best part? the ending...its a happy one YAY! the best kind...

Looking forward to book 3 ((Hopefully longer book))

This is the second book of the Devil Riders Series and I totally am loving this new series. The men are HAWT!! I Love Viking! He is rough, tough and all alpha male. Book2 has more action, sexual tension, romance and heat that book 1 Wanted by the Devil. They are both awesome stories and each perfect in their own ways… in book 2 we have the story of Janet and Jack.
Janet is a strong willed former ballerina who currently lives with her horrible parents and is trying to find a way out of her situation and recover from her horrible car accident. One that took away her love and left her in the situation she is in. Janet is sassy and boy does she has a smart mouth but she is kind and does her best to help her fellow man. She feels this instant attraction to Jack which made her stop and think ,especially after all that has happened in her life.
Jack is a huge man, a giant and he goes by the nickname The Viking. He owns a custom bike shop and is the VP for the Spawn. He is definitely an alpha male –more of a silent and deadly type. He feels this attraction too for Janet and boy does he try to resist but soon he is all around her. He goes from not around to being all up in her business.
Their love story was hot and sultry. It was a roller coaster of emotions and actions which I liked. I cannot wait to read book 3 in this story. I rooted for Janet and Viking. And it was great to revisit with previous characters in this series. This is another awesome hit by Joanna Blake.

I really really liked this short book. I read this one first because it was only 99 cents and that is the price point I feel is fair for a short book...so even though it is book 2 I really enjoyed Janet and Jack's story and didn't feel like I missed anything reading out of order.
It had a lot going on in this fast paced story of the former dancer who meets Jack at an MC party and even though he resists her, they eventually get together under stressful circumstances. It was sexy, and had a good story compared to some of the other shorter stories I have read.

Ride with the Devil...2nd book of this series.

Although the heroine of this story was not a standout, Jack "The Viking" made up for it. Would I ride with this Devil...hell yes and oh what a cover and and descript of this character in the story. Viking is tall, sexy, a bit gruff around the edges with a big "bad boy" persona. Although he dominates the spotlight in this story, it does have more action than the first story and the same physical attraction and intimacy.

Again, this was a very short read. The story was a bit better than the first book in the series. If not for the cover and the description of Viking, I would have rated it much lower.

3.0 Stars.

Jack's body reactions to Janet were entertaining, they'd happen at the worst time, "Jesus, he hadn't had this many boners since he was 15. He didn't like it. It was disconcerting for someone like him who liked to be in control. He scowled and adjusted his package in his jeans." Jack appreciates his woman's assets, "Janet was wearing shorts today. Tight little denim shorts that hugged her hips and a**. And Jesus, what an a**." Jack was my type of man he was moody, arrogant, silent, bossy and alpha.

Biker.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. She wasn't my favorite character but Jack made up enough for it. Lol. I really enjoyed his character. Constantly on the middle of right and wrong. Want and shouldn't want. There was a lot going on in this story too. A lot of excitement. As much as I wasn't a fan of Janet the poor thing had some bad luck. But of course who was there to save the day? Overall a good read I would definitely recommend. I also loved the bonus story Slade. That was a super fast steamy read. :-)

This was another great book from this author. I am loving this series. MC lite with a sweet, fluffy romance. My only complaint would be the H who pulls away again and again, drawing out the story. Just went on a bit too long for me.

But Jack is one amazing H and the romance is hot!

Don't look at me like that!! Of course I listened to the second book. Didn't you see it's narrated by Troy Duran!!!!

Jack (30-ish, MC) is the muscle for the club. He doesn't hook up with club bunnies and he barely talks to anyone. He's the broody, silent type. Janet (18-ish, Kaylie's best friend) has a crappy home life with a mother who hates her. Janet flunked out of college and needs a job so she can go out on her own. She ends up in danger and Jack rides in to save the day. Now they're in love. Awwwwwwww

Like I said during the first book. It's childish and silly and not even sexy.

It still gets 2 stars because of Troy Duran and the fact condoms aren't used. Oh and I love a good age-gap (though this one is missing the "good" part of that)

Oh dear God, I am in Love with a Viking!

I will Ride with this Devil anytime! I have a new book boyfriend and he is tall, bruiting, sexy and gruff. I loved the Viking! This is the second book of the Devil Riders Series and it is a must read. It is a little less sweet and has a bit more action then the previous story (Wanted by the Devil). This is a captivating story that is filled with action, romance, bruiting alpha male, and a sweet but determined woman. This series has become my new favorites and I cannot wait for the third book.

This is the story of Janet and Jack. Janet is a strong willed former ballet dance who currently lives with her horrible parents and is trying to find her way in life after an accident that took away her only love. She is sassy and hard headed (in the best of ways), and is determined to be herself no matter the cost. Her instant attraction to Jack was felt and seen in the writing of this story. I was rooting for them from the very first page. Jack is a 6’4” giant of a man with a reputation for not talking but full of action. His nickname is The Viking and he lives up to it in this story. He owns a custom bike shop and is the VP for the Spawn. He is the silent but deadly alpha male that I dream about. He tries to stay away from Janet as he does not really want a relationship because he feels he is unworthy. He turns around his feeling and when he does, wow, he is an amazing man.

I was excited that this story had more action and more drama than the last story (not that the last one was lacking in any way). I liked that Janet needed to push Jack a bit before he could come to terms with his feelings. As I stated above I was rooting for them from the beginning but I truly felt their connection when Janet was applying for jobs in the mall and Jack had to come to her rescue. It was then that I recognized Jack for the man he really is and wanted him for myself. On a side note this story is connected to Wanted by the Devil in that the secondary characters are from the first story and the world is the same. I liked having updates of the previous couple and story line. It added to the feeling that the Devils Spawn really is a family and protected and cared for their own. Another great MC story by Joanna Blake, I do recommend this story if you are looking for a lighter MC read with less graphic violence and more sweet love. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest voluntary review.

I do spoilers so I don't forget shit.
This is your only warning.

Picture this: Sons of Anarchy meets The Wiggles meets Cinderella. But nobody broke out into song. Gilbert and Sullivan could have made this melodrama a blockbuster.

"Making fun of the club President's sudden and utter devotion to a mere slip of a girl was everyone's favorite pastime...It was just too funny to see Devlin mooning over a woman when he'd had the chance to bed nearly every woman in two counties." (Loc 190)

Does that sound like the way a hardened biker talks? Shit, the way ANY biker talks? I'm not besties with any Charlie Hunnam hotties, but I'm really not buying the MMC pov.

By 3% the book was ruined for me. The writing style did not fit. It made the story farcical.
At 15% the author agreed:
"she'd looked like something out of a fairy tail." (Loc 756)

Rating - 1 stars.

Cover - Love the hair, the beard is an entirely different thing. It looks like a furry critter. But if he trimmed it up I'd be climbing that tree.

FMC - Her first pov made her sound like a spoiled, reckless, child. My opinion never changed.

MMC - His first pov made him sound like woman masquerading as a biker pov. My opinion never changed.

Plot - Sure. I think there was one, but I skimmed. My sanity required it. FMC had crazytown parents. She escapes and is TSTL and gets drugged by a Madam. I tried to finish but I started skipping and skimming by 43% just to get to the end. Others may enjoy soft core biker. If you like sweet this will be a good read for you. I need grit.

HEA - Don't know, don't care.

Smut - Not until 85%. And it was quick. No cheating.

Read solo.

The couple: Jack and Janet

Romance genre: MC
Series: The Devil's Riders
Length: 291 pages

Plot: Janet is best friends with Kaylie (from Wanted By The Devil. Because of that, Devlin asked Jack to watch over her. Janet used to be a dancer, but an injury forced her to stop and her parents are not taking the (alleged) hit to their reputation well. So now Jack is watching over Janet and keeping her safe from her parents. And there's more danger lurking in the background.

Commentary: You know how some people seem to be naturally lucky? Well, Janet doesn't need to buy a lottery ticket any time soon. She has no luck. What she has is an injury that ended her dancing career, parents who lock her in her room and starve her, and a one-way ticket to a sex trafficking ring. Poor Jack will be busy forever just watching after her. He's the strong, silent type - gruff, confused about relationships, and big as a tree. He needs to be the Viking people proclaim him to be in order to keep Janet safe. I liked this one (although not as much as the first one in the series).

Next book in the series: Trust The Devil

I didn't like this as much as book one in the series, Wanted By The Devil, but thought it was a good story. Jack and Janet seemed a perfect fit and had an undeniable chemistry with one another. (But Dev and Kaylie... *le sigh*)

Even if he had a constant scowl on his face, I found Jack's scoping out of Janet to be adorable. He always tried to appear unaffected by her but he couldn't help but be attracted to her.

The underage prostitution part of the book was a little much for me. I felt like there was already so much drama going on with Janet's parents that it wasn't needed. Plus, it sort of came out of nowhere.

Speaking of Janet's parents... They were awful creatures! I really hate it when people like that are able to procreate. They were seriously crazy and inflicted so many kinds of abuse on Janet.

My main beef... Kaylie totally should have bashed Janet's window in when she found her, instead of mouthing, "Going to talk with Dev, back later." (At least tried to anyways.) C'mon girl. You may be tiny but if your friend looked like death warmed over you should've been looking for a rock or a REALLY BIG tree branch you could use to obliterate that sucker! Just sayin'.

LOVED getting more Dev and Kaylie! They are too cute together!!

Just one-clicked book three in the series, Safe in His Arms! Looking forward to settling in bed with Donnie...

I really enjoyed Janet and Jack's story and was happy to see her and her "Viking" get an HEA after all the horrible things she went through at the hands of her own parents.
It had a lot going on in this fast paced story of the former dancer who meets Jack at an MC party and even though he resists her, they eventually get together under stressful circumstances. It was sexy, sweet and had a good, exciting story compared to some of the other novellas I have read.

I really enjoyed this book. Not going to lie The Viking was my favourite part, I love a strong silent, brooding man that just wants the girl to be happy. Janet was a good person but a little annoying, I did feel bad for her though because she just has the worst luck. The best part is that there is a HEA, with no cliffhanger. I would have liked it to end a little better as I felt like there were some loose ends but all in all a good read.

I am so glad I gave this series a second chance. I definitely connected much more with Jack and Janet. I really liked Jack's immediate protective instincts where Janet was concerned. It was like he felt a connection from the moment he laid eyes on her, knew that she needed someone even though he tried to convince himself otherwise. I have a feeling I will enjoy this series more and more the farther I get into it. I look forward to reading the next book!

*WARNING* for adult readers only
Jake the Viking is the protector, always in the dark corner watching.
Janet is the rich, broken ballerina.
What you see on the outside is not always the correct picture.
Jake's story is heartbreaking. Janet's so called parents are horrid. These two are broken in similar ways.
I enjoyed this book. I liked reading about what is seen in the outside and then getting to read about the inside.

Sick parents

Parents who do things like Janet's should be in prison? Foster parents who are solely for money shows the real lack in the system. Jack and Janet find each other and gain beauty from the garbage of life. Overall quality of writing was good. The first 3 stories all have them falling in love nearly from the first meet. They need more depth. No cheating or cliffhanger and this ends on a happy note.

DNF @ 27%... This was a rough read. The writing is kind of juvenile. The dialogue, or lack there of, was bad. I'm curious as to what makes Janet have a "spicy" personality cuz theres absolutely nothing, so far, to show that. And wtf do 2 bff's need to drag 2 grown men to the mall for? Seabreezes, mall trips, living with parents... how old are these females?! She comes off very juvenile and I just dont care for young girl with older guy.
