Saxson Olaru is one of the select, the few, the elite...
As a ruthless sentinel sworn to protect the ancient Vampyr king and the house of Jadon, he has “HOJ” literally inscribed on his heart: a heart that was tragically broken centuries earlier, when human hunters slayed his mother and Dark Ones murdered his father. Having survived the unthinkable, he never dreamed he would come this close to another human predator, let alone a female pretending to be his destiny.
Kiera and Kyla Sparrow are twin sisters: humans, living very different lives. While Kiera is selfless, clever, and talented, Kyla is dark, duplicitous, and damaged—she belongs to a secret society of vampire-hunters, and she has sworn to destroy as many as she can.
When Saxson’s Blood Moon appears in a February sky, and the matching constellation, Cetus the Sea Monster, appears on Kiera’s wrist, Kyla knows exactly what it means: The celestial gods have chosen her beautiful sister to be the eternal mate of an immortal vampire—she just doesn’t know which one.
And it really doesn’t matter.
If Kyla can recreate the sacred emblem on her own inner wrist, she can take Kiera’s place and commit the ultimate Blood Betrayal.
When duty, obedience, and honor clash with a deep, gnawing intuition, an honor-bound warrior will be forced to choose between allegiance to the house he loves and the quiet voice within, whispering: “Warning!”
One wrong move. One wrong choice. And all will be lost forever.

Tessa Dawn grew up in Colorado, where she developed a deep affinity for the Rocky Mountains. After graduating with a degree in psychology, she worked for several years in criminal justice and mental health before returning to get her master’s degree in nonprofit management.
Tessa began writing as a child and composed her first full-length novel at the age of eleven. By the time she graduated high-school, she had a banker’s box full of short-stories and novels. Since then, she has published works as diverse as poetry, greeting cards, workbooks for kids with autism, and academic curricula. Her Dark Fantasy/Gothic Romance novels represent her long-desired return to her creative-writing roots and her passionate flair for storytelling.
Tessa currently splits her time between the Colorado suburbs and mountains with her two children and “one very crazy cat.” She hopes to one day move to the country where she can own horses and what she considers “the most beautiful creature ever created” -- a German Shepherd.
I have only two things to say. First, this hero was one of the most romantic character in the series, seriously, he built a rose garden through the centuries for his future mate. How sweet is that?
And second, the deceit only worked because the hero was way too much of a gentleman. Any other vampires would have read her damn mind and know what was happening from the beginning. But no, even with all the misgivings, even with his gut telling him something was not right, he simply didn't do it. I was getting stressed seeing things unfold.
But anyway, it was part of the story, so... it still was awesome.
I absolutely love the Blood Curse series. And I loved this book. It was so different from the others’. Twin sisters, one sweet, Keira, and the other evil, Kyla, and the evil one took the place of the sweet one to be with Saxson as “his destiny,” and turned her sister over to monsters, not even caring what happened to her. Saxson was no dummy though. He knew something was wrong with his “destiny,” he just couldn’t figure out what it was.
And, wow! Those monsters were really something: Xavier, Owen and Travis. Whew! They were really awful. Between Xavier and Owen I would be hard pressed to say which one was the sickest. At least Owen and Travis got what they deserved. I mean, those vampires can be pretty brutal when it comes to killing the bad guys, especially when they’ve hurt someone the vamps care about. Really, OUCH for Owen.
I do really like Ramsey and Santos, Saxson’s brothers. Actually, I love all the characters, the good guys, that is, in this series. Next to Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians this is my next favorite series. Always so exciting and the depths of love is always amazing.
There is explicit sex in these books and the F-bomb is only used 4 times in this book.
As to the narration: Eric G. Dove is always awesome. With voices as well as emotions.
I have read all of this series, but the length of time between each book makes it difficult to remember all of the details of the previous books with much clarity (plus I read all the time). This was well-written and edited/proofread.
This is the story of Sentinel Warrior Saxon Olaru and his blood moon. I found it excruciating to read through the first part and although everything gets resolved for Saxon and his new Destiny, Kiera, new problems are cropping up for the vamps in the next book.
There is some resolution for Braden and his mother, too, which was nice to read, since she was a character I had disliked before. And it appears Keitaro Olaru has a new project on his hands, lol. Princess Ciopori gets her revenge on and OMG can she get angry! (Well justified, of course).
There are previews of the next two books, also, which of course I will pre-order as soon as they are available.
Wow, wow, wow!! Tessa has done it again with her latest addition to her Blood Curse series. This is one a lot of her fans have been waiting for......Saxon Olaru!! And man was it worth the wait. Loved watching his story play out with his destiny Kiera. It's rare for a book to make me cry or tear up but man did I ever, especially at the end. Lawd! lol. I knew the group/duo that Tessa mentions in this one and the song is one of my favorites so yes, I could actually hear it in my head while I was reading. :) Looking forward to the next one with Santos, just hope we don't have to wait to long for it.
Did not like this book and wish i could get my money back
I love paranormal romance but this was not a good story for a number of reasons. Mainly, the hero and his love interest don't even meet until two-thirds of the way through the book. One of the most disappointing reads ever.
I'm getting ready to read this and my stomach is all in knots. I'm all twisted up inside the preview at the end of the last book had me yelling oh she better not. The Olaru brothers are my favorite so I know I'm going to be on the edge of my seat the entire time
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet as ones True Destiny,
Just finished and ready to re-read this amazing wonderful fantastic story. I just want to tell you, it just doesn't get any better than Tessa Dawn's stories. She manages to pull you in, turn you, twist you and just leave you asking for more! This Story had a depth to it that leaves me in awe, I have read all Tess's Books from Day 1. With Tessa you always know she will mess with your mind/heart, not in a bad way, but yearning for more much more and you just have to go back and reread the story in case you missed anything! On a much " Lighter" "Note" I wll never ever look at a candle the same!!!!!!!!!!!
I have read each and every one of Tessa Dawn's Blood Curse series and loved them all. They just keep getting better and better. While reading Blood Betrayal kept yelling OMG! no, OMG NO. This book will grab you and hold you until the very last page. Absolutely loved Saxon and Kiera's story! ♡♡♡♡
This book is intense, non-stop action from the first page to the last. I was on the edge of my seat and had to actually remind myself to breathe a few times. Saxson and Kiera’s story is so moving and so maddening all at the same time. I wanted to scream and shake them a few times. Then I wanted to hug them both. Of course, there are so many twists that just when I thought I knew what was coming, the rug was yanked out from under me and I was left with my jaw hanging open! There’s Tessa’s trademark humor and moments that move you, as well as a few where you say out loud “that did not just happen”. One scene in this book will go down as the “candle incident of 2017” and I will leave it at that. All I can say is if you love dark fantasy, amazing characters and a storyline that never lets up, Blood Betrayal won’t disappoint
Excellent read. This ninth book in the Blood Curse series is just as good as the first book. It tells the story of what can happen when a Destiny is twin to an evil sick soul. It is Saxon Olaru's misfortune to claim the wrong Destiny, when a dark, evil twin sister switches places with her talented, clever and selfless sister. All is not lost because things just don't sit well with Saxon about his blood moon and golden child of the House of Jadon, Braden Bratianu is feeling sick for some reason. Love, love, love this series and as usual Eric G Dove renders a splendid narration.
Excellent addition to the series! I was on the edge of my seat! I love when an author shows a villain getting their comeuppance!!! And we get that and more in this series, some thing I feel is lacking in other series, *Cough -Artemis-*. Looking forward to Blood Web!!!
I liked the betrayal angle and the fact that it didn't resolve itself nice and neat with everyone being friends, not that I really expected that to happen, but I do enjoy seeing it none the less.
I also like that we seem to be getting possible plots or sub-plots for future books spread out through the current ones instead of one tease at the end. While I do enjoy the rather contained nature of each story focusing on one character and their relationships, I do appreciate over reaching story lines as it allows characters I became attached to to come back and be part of the story, even if not directly.
The only thing I didn't really like were the villains specifically the vampire hunting humans. I don't know they just seemed really cartoon-y almost in how evil they wanted to appear as. I feel it might have been stronger if they were utterly disgusted by Kiera and consider already a vamp. Or maybe adding to the Betrayal, convince her to try and kill Saxson or herself to cleanse the world of these leeches. Or maybe one whose only heard about what the Dark Ones do to women and think all vampires are that way and want to save the pretty destinies from a horrific fate. I get that these books' focus is the relationship between vampire and destiny more so than anything else. I would just like a little variety with my villains sometimes if they are going to play a part in the story.
In this ninth installment of the Blood Curse Series, Blood Betrayal, we learn about Saxson ... A Sentinel of Dark Moon Vale...he is lethel, intimidating and DROP DEAD GORGEOUS.
His Destiny has her hands full with her own unexpected events. I wanted to hurl my device across the room. I had to step away a few times, thinking... Oh No, she did not just go there... Oh Yes, she did! I LOVE THAT IN A BOOK.
Tessa Dawn never ceases to amaze me. I Love her unique and extraordinary writing skills. Well written, easy to follow, and picturesque.
Each installment is a multilayered, rollercoaster ride of emotion ...with fresh scenes, new dark and gritty twists, and intensely wicked turns so vivid that they threw me for a loop while leaving my mouth agape.
I have read every book in this series and it is the best installment yet. Miss Dawn had to reach deep down inside to write this one... it shows in her brilliant writing style.
Identical twins are always special - as though from the same soul. We wonder if the will behave the same way, how will others tell them apart? In this deeply passionate story full of twists and wrought with danger, will evil overcome Destiny? A curse being pushed and helped along by those who want only to destroy that which they believe gives them power? How can a fragile woman who has only known kindness survive? Can a Sentinel Vampire find his Destiny and secure his future? But his Destiny does not draw him - what is wrong with him? They will need strength. They will need faith. They will need everything that the handsome, patient, yet ruthless ancient sentinel has to survive this bloodhound, for the betrayal will be a revelation unlike any before.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review from the author. I just want to start off by saying that I had been looking forward to this book for what felt like forever and when I got it I absolutely loved it. Blood Betrayal was definitely worth the wait. The book itself is well written and it was amazing to read. There were so many moments that I was gasping out loud at what Kyla was doing to Kiera, all I wanted to do was to jump in the book and give a"Gibbs" smack right to the back of Kyla's head. I love the Olaju brothers and I love Saxson, who happens to be my favorite. If you want a book that has depth, vampires, hunters, crazy family dynamics, but also a compelling romance; this is a perfect book for you. There are so many twists to this book that it made it extremely hard to put down.
A wonderful book. I just love this series. This one is about Saxon Olaru who is Ramsey's twin and one of the House of Jadon Sentinels. His destiny, Keira, is actually a twin as well. Her twin, Kyla, takes her place to gain access to the vampires because she is part of a group of vampire hunters. She turns Keira over to her group and their leader who is actually a lycan from the land of Mhier, who is out for revenge. Will Saxon realize the deception in time before Keira is tortured to death and he misses his Blood Moon? This book does not disappoint. You are left on the edge of your seat to see how this one will end. You will cry and bite your nails and just be in love with this story by the end. Can't wait for the next one.
Blood Betrayal is book #9 of the Blood Curse series. This book will throw you into a dark and entrancing space. Filled with incredibly dangerous Vampires Sentinels and Warriors, lethal Lycans, and devious Hunters all entwined with betrayal beyond understanding. Hold onto your seats as the Author Tessa Dawn will catapult you into a world so ruthless, so conniving, so completely captivating that you may read the entire book in a day because your need for an epic release will be overwhelming. Brutal battels, physically and emotionally, will leave you in shock, you will need to remind yourself to just breathe. The war between good and evil in this book with leave you stunned, angry, throwing punches in the air and a lust so intense that your inner core will tremble. Happy reading!
I actually loved the way she shook up her normal writing of this excellent series. Instead of the warrior tripping over himself to constantly please his mate, or destiny Samson actually told Kayla that he was not that sure of them as a couple. He did not know why when she was there under the blood moon, with the mark of his cluster is Stars he knew something was wrong. Kayla has sold out her sister to a group of crazy vampire hunters led by a convincing lycon , who keeps that fact well hidden. He tortured Keira the true destiny, doing all sorts of experiments on her, beat and abused her, and then gave her to the group to further abuse, and sacrifice. It all unfolds, and let’s just say it does work out, but those that wronged his destiny paid a huge price. Loved it. 5 stars.
Tessa Dawn never, ever disappoints. If your this far into this series then you know how good it is. There's no Vampyre stories out there like these, they stand alone in a sea of many. The story is branching out to now include a huge human underworld with some nasty, evil and vile people. I do think that the Dark Ones, they still creep the hell out of me, are going to be intertwined here, or at least I'm guessing. It's been kinda quiet on the Dark Ones side. That should be interesting as well as the storyline with Xavier, the grotesque lycan that could not have a slow enough death when it arrives. Saxon finally got his destiny and Kiera is a good one I think.
I can never say enough about this series, It has completely taken a hold of me. I wish I could journey to Dark Moon Vale and get me a big sexy vamp and have my own blood moon. Lol. Tessa is a genius writer, her world is so unique and original. I LOVED this blood moon, it was filled with so much excitement, mystery, intrigue, hotness death and blood. I love how she write her fight scenes. I hope somehow everyone finding their destinies so close will mean something and I can't wait for Braden's book. I hope the series keeps going for a while. I just love this world, I have not found one book not interesting, they all are wonderfully beautiful.
I love this series! It is amazing. Excellent Narration by Eric Dove. (audible review)
This was not my favorite of the series but I still enjoyed it a lot.
Saxon finding his destiny and it being the wrong twin. LOL This twins were like the light one and the dark one of the Vampyre aka Jadon/Jager. Like Kyla should have been sacrificed when she was born. HAHA! She was pretty mean to her sister, leaving her with those horrible kidnappers.
As for the narration, it was great! Eric Dove is so good with the female voices and giving everyone their own distinct voice. I can always listen to him. Ear candy!
Blood Betrayal may be my favorite out of the Blood Curse Series and I seriously have loved them all!! There is not one dull moment in this story!! I love the vampyrs of Dark Moon Vale! This story was very exciting with plenty of action! I did not know how the author was going to make this end in a HEA. You will have to read the story to find out!! I did enjoy the devious Kyla as I rooted for her twin sister Kiera!! I always love a bit of drama!! This is a must read story!!!
This is another fantastic book by Tessa. I had been waiting for what seems like.. ever, to finally get to Saxton's story. What can I say, except that Tessa has delivered again. I can picture each and every character in my mind. I imagine them at Dark Moon Vale and I feel privileged to know them. This story had so many twists, some expected, some not. I can't tell you the number of times I cried, or the times I said "what...what the f**k. And really, isn't that what we all want in a good book?
So excited to read the next book in this series. Again this author told an incredible story that kept me turning the pages. Each book is classically written to tell another story of a vampire and the quest for his destiny. Love the book. Can't wait for the next book in the series. The author can't write fast enough for me!!! Highly recommend this book
I can't wait for the next book ! I'm always counting down the day as soon as I turn the last page of the new release! If you haven't started this journey hop on! Lots of love, family and adventure awaits. :) this book was the most intense of all with the suspense of his true destiny! Can't wait for Braden to hopefully have a baby girl!
Awesome read. Kiera is a kindhearted and responsible person, unlike her twin sister Kyla who seems to follow trouble. Kyla betrays her sister, giving her to the vampire hunters so she can take her place as a destiny to destroy as many vampires as she can. I love this series and can't wait for more.
