The most surprising thing about me is that I've lived in the jungles of South America. When I casually mention that people are shocked. I'm not sure why because that fact seems natural to me.

Less interesting is that I was born and raised in California, have traveled and lived in South America, and have lived in several states and visited 38 states.

What all that means is I'm pretty opened minded and like new experiences.

FYI: most authors are sort of boring. We spend most of our time alone, sitting at a computer writing or reading. I'm not an exception.

Here are the tedious details:

I write young adult, science fiction, fantasy stories with a touch of adventure and mystery. I read almost anything as long as there's a good story. I drink too much coffee. I play Word of Warcraft for fun and relaxation.

In case you haven't guessed, I'm a geek.

A lovely glimpse into a new post-apocalyptic world I can’t wait to read more in! This introductory short story introduces Fortinbras, Archangel, and Corday, three young Legates (assassins) and their dark world.

In a short span of pages Foerstner delivers great character depth. Each of these characters is heroic and flawed, full of fears and guts. They are not to be trifled with. They give me little shivers!

The dialogue is sharp and wonderfully fits each character beautifully. The pacing flowed at a good clip; no slow or dull spots here.

Give this short a read. It'll make you want more.

I loved this story. I read it before the Fortinbras novella and had to jump straight in to that after I had finished Justice because I was enjoying the world and the characters so much. Much as I love it, dystopia can sometimes be depressing, but the author does a great job of bringing wit, pathos and a crackling storyline to bear in this genre mashup. It's a little bit sci-fi, a little bit country, a little bit mystery and 100% awesome. Get it!

The author further develops the man Fortinras from her novella titled after the character. It's a great side-by-side story to further flesh out such a gritty and fantastic antihero. I'd recommend reading it alongside the novella, as it really gives an alternate dimension to Fortinras. Hopefully more stories about Fortinbras come our way. I can't wait.
