Sam is asked to locate a missing woman, but the case is strange. His client is a fourteen year old girl who insists her mother was abducted, even though her father and the police believe she's merely run off with another man. Sam agrees to check it out, and quickly learns that there is someone who doesn't want the truth to come out.
When a second attempt is made to throw Sam off the case, he digs in deep and discovers that the missing mom knows something that others want kept secret--but might just be the only thing keeping her alive!

David Archer was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He is a fiction author and novelist, writing in the mysteries and thrillers genre. His approach to writing is to hit deep, keep you entertained, and leave you wanting MORE with every turn of the page. He writes mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novels, all of which are primed to get your heart pumping.
Hidden Agenda is the first novel by David Archer that I’ve read. I only read it because it came recommended by Amazon after I had finished a novel by Michael Connelly. The recommendation indicated that the two writers were comparable. Archer is a good writer, but I wouldn’t compare him to Connelly.
Hidden Agenda was a quick read for me. It was entertaining, but I thought it was predictable and a little far-fetched. A YouTube video blogger Martin Fletcher inadvertently videos police officers murdering three teenagers. Instead of going to the FBI, the news media, or other authorities, Fletcher enlist the help of his co-worker Tracy (an old flame of Sam Prichard). The police officers learn of the video and they kidnap Tracy and go after Fletcher and Prichard.
This is where I thought the storyline was a little far-fetched. Fletcher is a YouTube video blogger. YouTube bloggers are fanatics at posting videos and building viewership. Fletcher has a viral video that would make him famous. If he had posted it to his YouTube channel and/or gave it to the FBI or the news media, the corrupt police officers would have been arrested and the threat to him would have ended. I kept thinking of the Rodney King beating by LAPD officers. Nothing bad happened to the man who videotaped the King beating because he protected himself by exposing the crime.
When Sam Prichard gained possession of a copy of the videotape, he too should have gone straight to the FBI and/or the news media. The FBI would have put pressure on the corrupt cops and got them to reveal where Tracy was held. I just shook my head in disbelief that Prichard thought he was doing the right thing or that there would be a massive conspiracy to protect the corrupt police officers.
I don’t regret reading Hidden Agenda, but I doubt I’d read another book in the Sam Prichard series.
David Archer has again written a great addition to the SAM PRICHARD SERIES. Sam is contacted by a teen-aged girl, asking for his help to find her mother, because the police are not looking.....
This book is on my MUST READ LIST and should be on yours too!
I received a review copy, at no cost, in exchange for an honest review and have no personal affiliation with the author.
If you have read any of the Sam Prichard mysteries then falls right in with the others. Sam gets a case like usual and then the case goes south. Just like Sam the case turns into a bigger case. He must save a little girls mother who knows something the police don,t want to get out. This one's all over the place. A must read.
This was a good book. Retired detective Sam is now a PI and is asked to find a woman he knew in his past, by the woman's daughter. The police state that she just ran off with her lover and do not want to pursue the case. The story unfolds from there. Sam finds himself in the middle of a larger situation than just a missing woman. This was hard to put down.
Once again author David Archer gave me a great book to read. Sam Prichard Has an easy time of getting himself in some hot water. Sometimes getting out is not so easy. But action filled and great characters kept me on my toes throughout. Now looking forward to more from this author. My reading time will be well spent.
I am a big fan of the Sam Prichard series. This book had me on the edge of me seat in certain areas. I recently found David Archer books and I am a big fan. I can't get enough of the books. Sam and Indy are great. Indy really surprises me with her computer program Herman, I get a kick out of her mother and her ghost friend. I look forward to reading the whole series.
It is a very enjoyable read the takes more unexpected turns. A little bit on the scarlet side but it does not know me up. Love A all the Prichard and Sold vooks. Read them as soon as they go online
I have read all the books and not once has Mr. Archer in anyway disappointed me. If you love a great suspense that keeps you guessing these are the best. Keep them coming Mr. Archer.
As usual Sam Pritchard gets stuck into an investigation, danger comes to his family, but Sam as ever prevails. A fair read , short but worth it. Still love the characters.
Sam and Co. Have become very predictable. A slightly different scenario but the storyline is basically the same as the last couple of books in the series. I think it's probably time the Author gave Sam and his family a well earned rest.
I read this book in a couple of days because I just couldn't put it down. Well written, exciting story with believable characters. It was a great read. I've read a couple of other books by David Archer and so far he hasn't disappointed. I can recommend this book wholeheartedly.
This is the most exciting Sam Prichard book so far that I've read. From the first page you are off and running with the case of a missing mother. Seems simple but becomes one of the most complicated cases he has had.
Another great story from David Archer, as Sam Prichard gets drawn into another nail biter mystery. The characters are real, down to earth people that don’t rely on cussing and bad attitudes to get through life. David Archer hasn’t missed yet with Sam nor Noah’s stories.
This story has no end! This book has topped all others👍 I am now wondering who this guy David Archer is and were is he coming up with these stories. They are truly amazing!
Hidden Agenda was such an exciting book it kept me from my sleep and eating schedule till the final page. The plot was full of twists and turns and the main character, Sam was fun to follow and will add the author David Archer on my must follow and read!
We all know there are police that try go be judge jury and executioner. We have heard it on the news. We have seen it on tv. David Archer has taken that concept to a whole different level. Read!
I've really liked all of the Sam Prichard series. This book included. I always new what was going on from the last time I put it down. Looking forward to finding the next one.
I found David Archer, and the Sam Prichard series by accident last year about this time....of all the ones I have read thus far...I think this was the best one!!!!
