BEACH BRIDES SERIES (Lisa)

Twelve friends from the online group, Romantic Hearts Book Club, decide to finally meet in person during a destination Caribbean vacation to beautiful Enchanted Island. While of different ages and stages in life, these ladies have two things in common: 1) they are diehard romantics, and 2) they've been let down by love. As a wildly silly dare during her last night on the island, each heroine decides to stuff a note in a bottle addressed to her "dream hero" and cast it out to sea!

Is it possible to find true love through a message in a bottle? Spending a week on a Caribbean island with the members of the Romantic Hearts Book Club is like a dream come true for Lisa Kaye. On their last night, each woman writes a personal message to her "dream hero," stuffs it in a bottle and tosses it out to sea. Lisa's real dreams crash, however, when she returns home and loses not only her job but her boyfriend in the same day. Determined to start over, she returns to Enchanted Island, the idyllic place of her childhood to manage her aunt's bed and breakfast. Then it happens. She receives an email from the man who found her bottle and she doesn't know what to do. Should she ignore it or take a chance at finding true love?

Lisa is another great addition to the Beach Brides series. I have not read anything by Denise Devine before and after reading Lisa's story, I hope to read a longer read by her in the near future.
4 1/2 stars.
I received this book from the author but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

> > Judging a Book by it's Cover < <
Gah! This model is stunning! Sorry, this is my favorite cover in the series. I love the sand/beige dress, too! Synopsis is so sad, but hopeful!

> > Looking Deeper < <
POV ~> Third-person.

She didn't mean to throw her bottle out to sea but it went flying regardless, arching through the sky and, "plunk", into the water it went. When Lisa returns home, she loses her job after 10 years and later than night ends her relationship with her boyfriend. Suddenly, the opportunity to take over her aunt's B&B on Enchanted Island sounds like the perfect plan.
Shawn returns home from a volunteer gig, digging around in Israel, to find that his father and brother made plans regarding their hotel corporation while he was gone, and it left him with "the short straw". He feels cheated but is determined to prove his worth. However, it appears his fiancee' is nowhere near okay with that and dumps him before he is assigned to a small island off the coast for the next several months.
For a novella of this shortness, the author manages to convey a decent passage of time and a deeper connection than some trite insta-love, even though, essentially, it kind of is... an insta-love situation. Instead, it provides a sense of fullness of plot, defined timeline, dynamics, and depth. There were conflicts from several directions. The only point of contention I had was the scene between Shawn and Brittany on the island, what a hot/cold FLAKE. Anyhow... yes, the secondary cast was capable of evoking emotional responses as well. Although there was only the mildest of affections, is was emotionally perfect. Predictability was almost non-existent. The conclusion was completely solid and satisfying.

Although this is the sixth book in the #BeachBrides series, it stood on its own so very well. This is the first story I've ever read by Denise Devine and I am in awe over the amount of content and emotion she managed to pack into this little light read!
.
Rating: [G] ~ Score: 4.4 ~ Stars: 4 (4.5, if I could!!)

A group of twelve women meet on an
island in the Caribbean. They all belong
to an online reader's club. They are
meeting in person for the first time.
The club is named the Romantic Hearts
Book Club. They each toss a bottle with
a message into the sea.
One of these women is Lisa Kaye. She is
no stranger to this island as she spent
a part of her childhood there. Her Aunt
runs a Bed & Breakfast there.
Returning home, Lisa gets hit with a
double whammy.....a loss of her job and
her boyfriend. Lisa decides to return to
Enchanted Island and work for her
Auntie.
Shawn Wells works in hotel development
with his brother for their father. Shawn is
hit with a triple whammy....his father will
be leaving the company solely to his
brother instead of an equal share of the
ownership to both brothers. His father
is turning his current project over to his
brother and sending Shawn to a project
on an island. Then his financee breaks
their engagement.
Strangers to each other, two broken-hearted
people end up on Enchanted Island to rebuild
their lives. Will a message in a curio bottle
be a catalyst in their lives???
The Island description is deftly woven
throughout the story. The reader will smell
the sea, feel the sand on their feet, hear bat
cries, travel though a deteriorating city street,
experience the wind, sounds and damage
of a hurricane and share in the island lifestyle.
A myriad of colorful, well fleshed characters
types will keep the reader bedazzled.
A well written, captivating story mixing the
elements of loss, disappointment, family
trials, fear to love again with determination,
independence, friendship and love.
Highly recommend this story. Be sure to
read.
There are twelve books and twelve authors
included in this Beach Brides Series. Each
book can be read as a stand alone.
I volunteered to read an Advanced Readers Copy.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My
opinion is my own.

I'm enjoying this series very much and you don't have to read the books in order. There is no "theme" that makes it necessary to read them in order but the one thing that ties them together is that the ladies are all in the same online book club and met on Enchanted Island. At the end, they decided to put a message in a bottle to their "true love" and then throw it in the ocean! In this story, Lisa was only going to "pretend" to throw her bottle in the ocean because she wanted to keep her bottle! It was an antique and she really didn't believe the whole "true love" thing anyway. Plus she had a boyfriend back home so she didn't need to get a "true love". Well, the bottle has something slippery on it when she takes it out of her purse and it goes flying when she makes the motion and pretending to throw it! Oh, well, she forgets about it after that!

After returning home, she finds out her boyfriend has cheated on her (he's married!) and she loses her job - all in the same day! She returns to Enchanted Island because her aunt lives there and runs a B&B. Lisa used to go there during the summer as she was growing up. Then, we have Shawn. His father is atrocious! I've never met a more mean-spirited, manipulative man/father! They are in the hotel business and Shawn has done everything his father has asked but his father just keeps yanking his chain.....nothing is ever good enough for him.....and he's mean! However, he gets sent to Enchanted Island to work on a real estate deal for his father and there meets Lisa. They have chemistry right from the get go - AND they clash! That's what I liked! Things are great until Shawn's ex-finace shows up....did I say I liked conflict???? Oh, and Shawn finds Lisa's message in a bottle at an antique store (although he doesn't know it's hers, of course!) Lots going on and some fun characters! I really like the flavor of the island seen through the characters' eyes and even a hurricane! It's a great read!

Lisa is part of the Romantic Hearts Book Club and she went to the Enchanted Island to meet with the other 11 members of the group, on their last night there, someone suggested they write a note to their future dream hero. They did, and put it in a bottle and tossed in the sea.

Lisa didn't think she would ever hear from anyone. When she came back from the Enchanted Island she discovered that her current boyfriend was actually married. She also was shocked when she discovered that her job of 10 years was over as well. She was being laid off.

With all this happening she went back to Enchanted Island to help her Aunt with her B & B. When it appeared that they may be put out of business by a local hotel. She appears at the hotel with her best friend to fight for their future.

This is when she meets Shawn the manager of the hotel. Shortly after she meets Shawn she hears from the man who answers her email. He has found her bottle. She wrote a poem in the bottle that kinda sounded like a Dr. Seuss poem and he replied the same way. She makes arrangements to meet with him.

Will she find her dream hero. Will it be Shawn or the man who found her bottle. Read the book, you won't be disappointed.

This is a sweet and tender romantic read that kept me glued to the book from beginning to end. I enjoyed the attraction, chemistry and repartee between Lisa and Shawn as they seek to start over on Enchanted Island. This is the first book I have read by Denise Devine and I look forward to reading more by this talented author. I love the Beach Brides series, written by twelve authors, that can be read as standalones but the entire series has definitely captivated me. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of Lisa and then purchased a copy so I can read it again later.

I have very mixed feelings about this book; let me tell you why. It's a sweet read and a very ambitious storyline with a whole cast of characters that I either liked or hated with a vengeance. I liked both the hero and heroine and their best friends but Lisa's former boyfriend turned out to be a married man who was cheating on both Lisa and his wife and his behavior is just downright despicable. And then there's Shawn's father, a business shark who is arrogant and manipulative with clients and especially with his own son. I was not a fan and don't even get me started on Shawn's former fiancé who is a real piece of work. The author spent a lot of time introducing the culture and topography of Enchanted Island and I thought she did a great job. I definitely felt like I was a guest at the B&B and was enjoying a vacation on this small Caribbean island. But there too many predictable plot twists and not nearly enough interaction between Lisa and Shawn before they were declaring their undying love for each other. I know writing a novella is somewhat of a challenge but the author spent too much time on unnecessary details and should have spent that time creating an emotional connection between Shawn and Lisa which would have made this story more appealing. I'm sorry to say I have to rate this book with 3 & 1/2 stars. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are complete my own.

Lisa ( Beach Brides Book 6 )
By: Denise Devine
Lisa is book six in Beach Brides series. There is twelve in all with the same theme, but you do not have to read them in order. I have read several of the novellas and loved them. This is my first to read by Denise Devine , but hopefully it will not be my last. This is Lisa’s Story and I loved it too. Twelve women who belong to an online Romantic Book Club all go on vacation to the beautiful Enchanted Island. Their last day they do a dare, stuff a note they had written into a bottle to their dream hero and toss into the sea. Lisa was going to pretend that she tossed hers. Lisa is down on love . She goes back to work and losses her job and her boyfriend all in the same day . What luck. I felt sorry for Lisa. She has an offer to run a Bed and Breakfast in Enchanted Island . She also hears from a man who has her bottle. Does he have her bottle? Should she take a chance at love when her heart is already broken ? I really love this Beach Brides series and I know you will too. I hope to get to read the rest of them. I know you will love them , so get started.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told that I had to give a positive review.

This is another great addition to this wonderful series. I loved Lisa's story. She is such a wonderful woman with a heart who just gets stomped on it seems in her romances and professionally.
She just left Enchanted Island where she had her first time meeting all the women in her romance book club. She goes home, loses her job on the first day back and sells her townhouse and goes right back to Enchanted Island to help her auntie run her bed and breakfast.
She is a fun loving woman who loves to do unusual things for many women.
Shawn is sent there to run their hotel there and to build the strip mall his dad wants. He is against that as it would really hurt the local economy and the locals who run shops there.
I love this story and the two main characters and their fun relationship. But what about the note in bottle she through in the water. Who has been contacting emailing her saying he found her bottle?
You really need to read this one as all of the Breach Brides but this one seems so different than the others
I highly recommend this story and I do with all the ones in this series.
I was offered this ARC and wanted to read it and this is my own and honest review.

I love the Beach Brides Series! Each book has been so unique and so romantic. Lisa is the sixth book in the series. It begins on the night the women throw their bottles into the sea. I loved catching a glimpse of the actual event. :) When Lisa goes home, life doesn’t go as planned, and she ends up returning to Enchanted Island to help run her aunt’s Bed & Breakfast. It was fun to have a book that was set on Enchanted Island. The vivid descriptions made me feel like I was there.

Lisa’s life takes the saying “when it rains, it pours” to heart. More than once. I loved the way things worked out for her in the end. She and Shawn were both people I could root for. They were great together! I loved their adventurous spirits, the way they enjoyed being together and the sweet romantic moments they had.

This is a great addition to the series! The books can be read in any order, but it’s definitely worth reading them all.

I received a copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.

While I liked Lisa and Shawn, I wasn't in love with either of them and I felt their relationship was kind of rushed. I know that novellas are hard to write in the sense that you want the storyline to be fully formed, but the time constraints sometimes make that a challenge. So, I didn't really figure that part into my rating.
I was very distracted by not one, but two extremely annoying and unlikeable characters. Shawn's father was a loud mouth bully and his former fiancé, Brittany, was a bitch. Add in Lisa's former boyfriend...really, she couldn't figure that plot twist out...and these two people are very much doormats at the beginning. Even towards the end of the book, I wasn't to punch Lisa's cousin!
I enjoyed the description of the island and the explanation of the culture, as well as Lisa's bff. And while separately Shawn and Lisa didn't spark my enthusiasm, together they did make a cute, perfect couple.
I received an ARC for an honest opinion, I just wish I loved it more.

This is book 6 in the Beach Brides Series. Each book that I have read, while the initial premise is the same - 12 romance book club friends spend a week in a Island Resort and write a message, put it in a bottle and throw it into the sea - each book has had the individual writer's voice.

This is Lisa's story, she returns home to lose her job and (cheating) boyfriend on the same day, so she puts plan B into effect. She packs her bags and moves back to Enchanted Island to help her Aunt run her Inn. Months have passed since she threw her bottle in the water, and she figures it's long gone.

Shawn hates his fathers business tactics, but accepts a transfer to Enchanted Island to "fix" the family owned resort there. While passing thru the gift shop, he notices a unique bottle with a paper in it on a shelf, and buys it.

This is a really fun story, another winner in this series.

What a great summer beach read. This is a story about an online romance focused book club of 12 women who decide to meet and vacation in the Caribbean. On the last night they all decide to throw a bottle into the ocean with a message looking for Mr. Right. This is Lisa's story. She doesn't intend to throw the bottle in as life is going pretty good for her, but it slips out of her hands and off it goes. Some big changes happen when she returns from vacation. Lisa ends up moving to The Enchanted Island to help her Aunt run a B&B. The story provides the reader with romance, friendship, 2nd chances and a whole lot of love. I really enjoy the Beach Bride Series and look forward to reading more of them. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Lisa is #6 in the Beach Brides series. This one by Denise Devine. Another charming story. A fun. Quick read. Perfect for the Summer. I liked Lisa and Shawn. I think so far, Lisa's bottle message was my favorite. So cute with Dr. Suess type rhyme. Cute. I loved the Carribean Island setting. I felt like I was there. I loved learning about the culture. It made me want to take a vacation there. I loved that there were 2 romances going on. That Shawn's friend Pete and Lisa's friend, island native, Shakara also fell in love. I disliked Shawn's controlling. Bullying father. I'm glad he finally stood up to him and quit working for him. And his spoiled ex fiancée Brittany. Ugh! Although I didn't dislike Lisa's aunt and cousin, I didn't like them either.
I was given a PDF copy for an honest review.

Another Fun Beach Bride Book!
Lisa, unlike the other ladies who sent their message in a bottle, actually ends up moving to Enchanted Island to help her widowed Aunt with the Bed & Breakfast that her Uncle and Aunt owned. She expects to get over her heartache, and hopes to never get a response to her message. When she receives an email, she isn’t at all sure she wants to meet him. But, what if he might be her “one and only”? The author writes a fun adventure that will draw you in, and you find yourself quickly reading it, to find the answer!
Disclaimer: I received an advance copy of the book, and have given my review of the book, voluntarily.

Lisa Kaye is having the worst week ever. Now she has retreated to her happy place, Enchanted Island. Thinking her bottle crashed and sunk but soon she received a message. Shawn Wells has been trying to please his father but isn't succeeding. He was sent to Enchanted Island to get a project back on track. Little did he know that the bottle that he found in a little shop, had a message from Lisa. It seems Island Girl and City Boy are ready to explore the possibilities but the past needs to be laid to rest. Can't wait to read the next book.

Lisa: It was not her great addition to the series. I loved that she end back on the island that she met her book club friends for the first time and where they came up with the message in a bottle idea. It's always hard to pick up the pieces after you have been hurt but you never know. I loved how Denise Devine chose to write this hot love story and all the hot men that were in it. Love how the wedding was in a courtyard and all her friends were there. It was a fantastic love story!

Lisa's story is such an emotion filled story. She returns from her vacation to have all sorts of things happen to her. She ends up returning to the Island. Shawn goes to the Island for work. He finds the bottle. He meets Lisa without realizing who she is. They have adventures and ups and downs. They work out so well. Love their friends Pete and Shakara . This island is fun and exciting.Love their ups and downs. Cute love story.

I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. This series can be read in any order. Even with so many setbacks, Lisa is my strong woman in this book. The main male character isn’t having an easy time either. It always amazes me that authors can write so different stories from the same premise. Loved this book and the rest that I have reviewed.

Does lightening strike twice?

For Beach Bride Lisa, does lightening strike twice? Can one twice loose a job and romance? Denice Devine weaves an enchanting tale with daring characters, twist and turn plot, plus a reoccurring thread of a poetic message in a bottle. Will Lisa and Shawn find their dream job and romance! A delightful summer read!

Can lightning strike in the same place twice? Lisa throws her bottle and ends up back pm Enchanted Island working for her aunt. Two men or will she have to make a choice? Loved that this one is set on Enchanted Island, the descriptions were so good that I want to visit. Another great Beach Brides book.

I am loving this series of the Beach Brides. She wrote in her bottle message just exactly what she wanted in a man. Shawn finds the bottle and emails her but they don't realize they already met. Reality enjoyed the description of different things in the book. My first book by Denise Devine and will definitely be reading more. I received an advanced copy of the book.

A straightforward sweet romance novella. I really liked the "message in the bottle" concept that carries throughout the series of twelve books - some of the messages were funny, some heartfelt, but each one was unique and a great start to each individual story. With the exception of Ginny Baird, each author in the series is new to me. What initially caught my eye was the beautiful cover art.
