I recieved this book for my honest opinion I was hooked from the cover to the first of the page! This emotional book hit me hard not only because I have been in a car accident it was all the feelings. I couldn't imagine being the only one left Alive when Elona goes off to college she meets her roommate that introduces her to Michael will he help her push her walls down after losing her bestfriend in the wreck or will she shut down? Can a huge secret destroy their relationship? But than will her memories come back from her wreck? I loved Elona and mikes story and it was definally emotional and I can't wait to read more from this author!!!
4 Stars to A Life No Less Than Perfect by Angela K. Parker.
What a pleasant little surprise this book was! First, Angela K. Parker is a new author for me. As a matter of fact this is her debut book. I really liked it. This book had many feels. While I felt there was a serious/mature undertone to the characters and their experiences (previously and with each other), this book was not angsty. It was fun and flirty and refreshing.
Another detail that I enjoyed was the fact, it kept me guessing. You will learn Elona's story pretty early on in the book. I won't go into detail about that but I will tell you she has had an emotional past few years. Michael is another story however. While I thought I knew what it was that caused his emotional pain, I was wrong. And I have to say, I'm pretty good at guessing plots. So yes, I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong in my assumptions. That is in fact a good thing. I enjoyed the book more because of that.
Elona was a strong character despite what she went through. I do wish that she would have been honest with Michael earlier than she was. When Michael finally told her his story, she should have used that opportunity to tell hers. But that is just my opinion and while it frustrated me a bit, it doesn't take anything away from the story.
Michael was amazing! I strongly connected with him. There was many qualities in him that reminded me of someone I knew in my younger years. He was a good guy. You know the mold was broken after he was created. He is a hero I won't easily forget.
This story has a few conflicts. A misunderstanding with some miscommunication as well. The secondary characters were perfect additions to the story. In fact, I hope we get another book with Laurence and Jessica. I have my suspicions about them but I could be wrong. Either way, I'd like to read about them. Also if you are looking for a romance with descriptive sex, this is not that book.
This is my honest and unbiased review. I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
I received a copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable read. I have been wanting to read this book for so long, but never got around to it until now. I thought that the story was great and it was really cute. I really enjoyed the characters. I thought that they were relatable and authentic. I thought the romance was sweet. The chemistry between Michael and Elona was great. The ending was the best part for me. I can’t wait to read more Angela K. Parker. Overall, a great read.
4* review from Nicole Emerald Book Reviews-------> A Life No Less Than Perfect was a beautiful insta-love romance story with two exceptionally sweet, intelligent, protective yet complicated lead characters Elona and Michael. Navigating through college, individual personal tragedies, miscommunication, drama and an overabundance of emotions, both hero and heroine must fight for what and who they believe in. 'I put my family though a lot. They never turned their backs on me though. I hadn't met anyone else who was worth trying with since...until the moment I met her. One look at her and I just knew. It's like a spark was lit within me. The look in her eyes, at this moment...I had to have her. This sweet girl was going to be my forever. I just had to be patient.' This book relies heavily on characterisation, the magnetic pull of two strangers, their quirks, the flirting and uncertainty and the resulting romance that ignites between the two. Although there is a good dramatic vein flowing through the story from Elona's past as well as Michael's and a little hiccup to disrupt the equilibrium of an other wise sweet love story, A Life No Less Than Perfect is a terrific little fade-to-black read. If you are tired of over-sexed, hyped-up, over done erotic sex scenes in books and require something a little more tame but still with immense substance, then this story is ideal. It is a mixture of an insta-love and slow burn and I'm sure you're wondering how can it be both but I would recommend for you to take a chance on this brilliant debut novel and discover for yourself that the path to a happily ever after- even in fiction- is never as simple as it first appears. Well written, with thoroughly engaging characters, A Life No Less Than Perfect is just a taste of the good things to come from author Angela K. Parker.
I greatly enjoyed A Life No Less Than Perfect by Angela K. Parker! My first read from this debut author and it won't be the last. As a reader, I greatly enjoy stories about characters I can both sympathize with as well as relate to. Heroine Elona and hero Michael definitely fit the bill! Both have complicated pasts and yet their connection is instant. I was rooting for the two of them from the moment that they laid eyes on each other!
Elona's innocence and Mike's intensity make for an interesting combination as the story unfolds. The two learn from one another and grow as people and as a couple. I would love to read a sequel about Parker's secondary characters, too! Very romantic reading!
This was a beautiful love romance story with the characters Elona and Michael, with earlier tragedies in their lives they move on hoping college will ease their pains. They go through lots of emotions and battles with their history and it is written so well you can't help but go with them, you find yourself feeling the emotions and actually picturing the scenes. Lovely debut read that you won't be disappointed in.
This amazing author asked me to review her new book for her and I am so glad I did. This is a wonderfully brillant young adult novel. It really catches you and pulls you into each of the main characters story, their personal heartbreakes and sadness and their story together as it unfolds. This author really is truly amazing and I cannot wait to see what else she writes in the future.
These characters are just amazing. El or Elona is a struggling girl after a car accident took her memories. She decides to finish her last year of college off in person and meets these three amazing people. Jess, Ren and of course the amazing Michael. Michael is emediately taken by El as her calls her and brings her out of her shell and opens her up to so many things and experiences.
Their lovestory is one truly amazing ride. They both have secrets from their past that they struggle with that unfold uniquely throughout this novel.
I just adore Michael. To him El is his everything and he isnt ashamed to tell her this constantly.
This is a young adult novel but this author has a nonchalant way of showing how much the hormones can take over when you are young without being raunchy or gross with oversharing I really like that.
Definitely a must read and a 5 star book for sure.
This is the first book from Angela Parker. I don't remember how this author came to me. I really like Elona because like most people she has dreams and expectations and she knows what she wants. Life is not supposed to be perfect we all learn that life hands us a mixed deal and we have to work with what we have. I can feel the pain and such from Elona and I can understand how she becomes the person she is. I hoped that Angela Parker will keep writing she has made a fan in me as well. Life is a challenge.
One night changed Elona’s life forever. Once she wakes from her coma to realize her best friend didn’t make it, Elona basically puts her life on hold so she can deal with the tragedy. After taking 3 years of online classes, she decides it’s time to broaden her wings and finish her courses in person at the college.
Michael was ready to finish his final year of classes and take his place in the family business. He’s not looking for a relationship, but when he sees Elona, he immediately knows she is the one. He just needs to convince her of that fact.
Both Elona and Michael have tragic events in their past that have shaped them and brought them to where they are today . . . but will their newfound love be enough to allow them to leave the past behind and create a new life together?
A Life No Less than Perfect is author Angela K Parker’s debut novel. It’s a very sweet contemporary romance and would be appropriate for young adults to enjoy. While it is love at first sight, the characters both move slowly towards their ultimate goal.
Elona is a sweet, but somewhat naïve young woman. Because she sheltered herself after the accident, she isn’t quite prepared for the attention Mike is ready to lavish on her. Michael realizes his love for El almost immediately, but understands he must take things slowly to allow her to catch up to him emotionally. He also has to deal with the hurt from his past to fully accept El in the present.
I also enjoyed watching both characters interact with their families. Elona is an only child while Michael has many younger siblings. While their families are complete opposites, both sets of parents are incredibly supportive of their children and the interactions between Mike and his parents and El and hers add a lot of depth and understanding to the plot.
Angela K. Parker created a sweet story with her characters reaching for their own brand of perfection and a happy ever after. 4 stars.
For a first novel this was a good offering, I also felt that the book improved as I read through it. Or perhaps I was becoming used to her style of writing.
I liked the characters and felt they were believable. Elona was a little immature at times, but this was fitting to her age and circumstances. I loved the connection between her and Mike and felt the intensity of their attraction. The plot moved at a fairly decent pace, the writing flowed well and the book was easy to read.
I felt the blurb was a little misleading for several reasons. First was that 'lone survivor' suggested that the car had more than 2 people in it! Second, I didn't get the feeling that Mike was 'pained and broken'. The book seemed to skim over the issues that both Elona and Mike had faced in the past and I just didn't quite get any feelings of angst or stress regarding these situations. Finally they also seemed to move into a relationship incredibly quickly, whilst the blurb talked about them struggling to move on and how getting through the pain would be 'tragic', none of which matched what I took from the story.
That said I DID enjoy the story, it was entertaining, sweet (only hinting at their love life), and seemed a little more about growing up and trusting others. The author clearly has talent and I look forward to reading more work by her.
The perfect life she envisioned herself having may have been her way of coping but when she meets Michael and her idea of perfect shifts she may have to re-examine her definition. El after recovering from the accident is now attending school and meets Michael. OK I am not a big fan of insta-love (probably because I haven't experienced it and neither has anyone close to me) but I like these two. Their immaturity becomes a bump in the road but doesn't deter them. The strength and love from their family supports and propels them along with their past into a relationship destined to succeed.
I enjoyed this read even though it has some of my big ugghs involved. The author's characters got to me and the story was well written, what more can you ask for. It isn't a dramatic book but it is soothing and enjoyable and even with it being a clean read the heat is felt. This is my first read by this author but it wont be my last.
Wow. What an emotional read. I wasn’t quite sure how I would be feeling from one chapter to the next! However I am so pleased I got the opportunity to read this book.
I loved Elona and Michael who we follow through college, family drama, personal tragedies and so much more.
Elona is the sole survivor of a car crash that wipes out her entire family; left to carry on with her life she meets Michael through her college roommate. Together Elona and Michael make a lovely, almost perfect couple and it was exciting to read about these two lead characters, who I loved immensely.
Having never read any other books by this author, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I quickly got into the story and enjoyed it from the start. I barely put the book down; her style of writing was easy to follow and flowed beautifully. I absolutely enjoyed this story and highly recommend you read it.
On the cover there is the pretty Elona back, she looks in the air. A catchphrase: "When tragedy meets pain ".
I loved this story, the author wrote this wonderful encounter between Elona and Michael. The story tells us about the life of Elona who after naked tragic car accident is the only survivor. She's having trouble with memory, she's having nightmares. She wants to start from scratch away from her house. She's going to meet Michael and their love is going to be bigger and bigger. Looking forward to read more.
Full disclosure I am a 44 year old woman who loves to read and I enjoy a good story. This was a sweet romance between 2 youngsters who both had some issues they were able to over come so they can live happily ever after. This was very much a YA romance. Actually, more of a young teen romance. Nothing spicy to worry about your 13 year old daughter reading. It was too sweet for my taste but if you enjoy a love at first sight, happily ever after with no graphic sex this is for you.
This is a sweet romance story about two people, Elona and Michael, who find each other while dealing with learning to have the courage to move on after life dealt them with some harsh issues, growing up, and learning to trust someone. An excellent story with well developed characters and great plot.
I could understand Elona's point of view in this book. I can understand struggle and courage to move past things in your past. This book was a sweet book for me to read. This book has a lot of heart for me. I think it was great Elona decided to get out. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*
A great debut romance from Angela K Parker. This is a sweet, slow burn contemporary read with a flowing story-line and a strong plot, tragedy, heartbreak, family, secrets and love. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Author: Angela K. Parker Title: A Life No Less Than Perfect
Elona and Michael have complicated lives no doubt about it, but they match on so many levels. They are both going through a lot, for example college and many other personal tragedies. The balance these characters create is ideal for me and who doesn't love a insta-love book. Even at the pace the book goes there is still that build of storyline and character development. I loved this book, so I would definitely recommend reading this book. It was a debut novel, so I kept that in mind as I was reading, but overall I liked it.
I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. When i first started reading the book I had high hopes but for some reason I just couldn't connect with the characters and found it hard work through the book.
Let me start by saying that this is a first novel written by this author. I was very impressed with the level of writing. I never know when I read a book from an author who's new to me on how it will go for me. It sometimes makes me nervous. I will say that this story is a solid 4 star.
Elona has been through so much in her young life and still dealing with some memory issues from a car accident 3 years prior. She then goes off to college and there she meets Mike. Mike is instantly drawn to her and it's love at first sight. Mike as some secrets that may threaten his possible future with Elona. The truths will come to surface.
I loved this story very much. I was by far impressed with the intensity, the storyline and the plot. The secret revelation was kept until the end. I was left speechless because I was not expecting that at all. It was well presented and laid out. The author did well in making me like the characters and form some sort of attachment. Because to me characters are what makes up a story.
The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is mainly due to personal reasons. There's a part 2/3 in where they are separated for a week. I struggled to keep attentive to slowness of the development of the story. But overall, it was a great debut.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Heartfelt!💕 An amazing emotional read that grabs you and knocks you off your feet! A sweet, intense on edge storyline to keep you embedded and turning the pages! A great must read!
Wow. What an emotional read. I wasn’t quite sure how I would be feeling one chapter to the next! I am so pleased I got the opportunity to read this book.
We met Elona and Micheal who we follow through college, family drama, personal tragedies and so much more.
Elona is the sole survivor of a car crash that wipes out her entire family. Left to carry on with her life, she mets Micheal through her college room mate. Together, Elona and Micheal make a lovely, almost perfect couple and it was exciting to read about these two lead characters, who I loved immensely.
Having never read from this author I was pleasantly surprised to find that I quickly got into the story and enjoy it from the start. I barely put the book down. It helped that her style of writing was easy to follow and that the chapters were reasonable in length. I absolutely enjoyed this story and highly recommend you read it.
A young adult novel of love at first sight, the positive and negative issues that arise from it, and the ups and downs in regard to feelings and thoughts. Added into this mix for Michael and Elona is their own past traumatic issues. We all have them in one form or another. Some more severe than others. But working through them can be difficult alone. Working through them with a new love may make the process easier or harder and may leave the relationship stronger for it or in tatters...
As a debut novel, this was well written. It is definitely geared toward young adults, particularly due the simplicity of the dialogue. It is an enjoyable and sweet novel. It is engaging, but one the reader is able to put down and come back to and easily pick back up.
I would recommend this novel to all readers 13 and over. For adults, it would be a lazy afternoon read.
I loved this book!! It was my first book by this author. I was hooked from the start. It was such a beautiful love story, with some firsts & difficult times to get through. The main characters have had rough times. But once they set eyes on each other, there's instant chemistry they try & fight. Once they're together you root for them to get their happily ever after. I can't wait to read more books from this author. I received this arc for an honest review.

This was my first read by Angela Parker. It was emotional, poignant, and moving. I really don't want to spoil but had so many theories and was surprised by the way things played out. The turmoil they endured before finding each other brought forth a level of growth in each character. While it was your typical teenage issues, we learned that actions can have devastating consequences and sometimes you can just get plan lucky. Plots in the story were closed up well. I didn't have questions and Angela left me wanting more from the secondary characters. I can only see her growing more as an author as she continues writing and REALLY REALLY REALLY hope she writes Jess and Laurence a story. Elona is a girl that got a late start on the college life. She is a quite thinker. I can see where she needs that friend to bring her out of her shell. When she gets to school she is immediately engulfed by Jess. The woman who becomes her best friend. While they aren't the focal point in the story, you can see through snippets how their friendship evolves in a short time line. Michael stops everything when his eyes land on Elona. I really enjoyed his maturity and how he grew and cherished Elona. He knew what he wanted in professional and personal life. He is what every Mom would want her son to grow up in to. The secondary characters were fantastic. They blended into the story so that you felt the dynamics as you were reading. I really want more of them. While the timeline is quick, the author makes it work. There are also snippets in the past that she seamlessly blended into the present. It was like a movie playing in your mind. I also really admired how the characters were written. They were young and she made them have an air of maturity about them as well as fun. This reminded me so much of my time at school and with my parents. That there is nothing wrong with good clean fun. If anyone is looking for a read that has emotions but isn't full of drama and suspense is a fantasized way, I would recommend this. It's a great coming of age book about growth and love.
I did not know about the plot before reading book, I wanted to be surprised and be able to enjoy the story fully. Elona is very relatable since she is a very quiet and reserved person. Her relationship with Mike seems rushed in the story but it's enjoyable to see them share their moments together as they get to know each other. When Mike shares his past experience with Elona, I expected her to share her story as well to make the moment beautiful between them and also share how they had a troubled past and neither of them let that past define them. I expected Mike's confession about his past to be something totally different but it was well connected to the story and the growth of his relationship with Elona. I liked Elona's character transformation as Mike helps her open herself and take away her shyness as they date. The story is very smooth, the characters evolve as well as their relationship, I can relate to the characters and their college setting as it shows an adult relationship.
It's like a treasure hunt when I start to read a new book from a new author. I'm saying this because both cases you can't predict what will happen or what will it entail. I mean both are like a big adventure that we can or cannot enjoy. So it's a risk to dig into something new. But I can assure you that if this book is a debut album oh boy!!! What will we find next? Angela K. Parker is new into this book world thing and dayum what a book. Her writting is beautiful, heartfelt and intense as hell. I'm still recovering from this. A Life No Less Than Perfect tells Elona and Michael's story and what a story this was. Elona had survived a horrific car accident and she decided to isolate herself from everyone. The fact that she has some memory loss doesn't help her heal properly. When she decides to get back to college she meets Mike and things will start to change. Michael is a guy like you but his soul is so dark , pained and broken due to circumstances that changed him. When they meet each other things will surface but what will come from that? Happiness? Sadness? Can they trust each other? Can they give themselves heart and soul? I'm still shaking and overwhelmed. This book had the ability to make me cry due to the fact that what was portrayed there could happen to us. The way the story progressed had the ability to hook me up from the beginning because once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between the characters is beautiful and intense. Amazing book Angela and I can't wait for the chance to read more books from you. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
First off, to be fair, this is not my preferred genre to read. I much prefer a thriller or paranormal romance to a clean romance like this. I need action, suspense, thrill and this book had absolutely none of that. I was bored from start to finish! Honestly, I would not have even finished it if I didn't feel obligated to my review team.
I look around at the other reviews posted for this novel of 4 and 5 stars and I wonder what they are seeing that I am not. What did I miss?? The novel was not badly written except for being slightly redundant in the author's need to recap what we just read from a different perspective when switching from one character to the next. BUT it was just so mundane and unbelievable. The climax was virtually nonexistent and more like a speed bump then a wave. I had to battle through to get to the last page and was immensely relieved when I did. If you believe and enjoy the idea of love at first sight then this novel might be a good fit for you. If you are like me and think that the word love probably should not be thrown into conversation after ONE day, then not so much.
*I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
