Haley Wagner's life just got a lot more complicated. As if turning her struggling ranch around isn't tough enough, she's forced to call him for help. With his hard eyes and even harder body, Cord is an irritatingly sexy contradiction of hot and cold. How can she possibly hide her embarrassing secret when just looking at Cord is a combustible event?

Former Army Ranger Cord Brannigan has a secret, too. He promised his fallen teammate he'd protect the tempting, fiercely independent Haley from a distance, but now they're stuck together for three weeks. Alone. Keeping his hands off will take every ounce of control he can muster. And that control is slipping...

Hi there. Thank you for checking out my profile.

It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.

Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.

With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…

This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, contemporary romance novel. It has a likable, compassionate and caring female protagonist, a former military male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, relationship drama, a touch of humor, and a happily ever after ending. This is an excellent addition to Ms. Michaels' Men At-Ease Ranch series, and can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone, but is even better when read in order. I listened to the audio version of this novel, and the narrator, Joshua Macrae, has a captivating voice and does an excellent job depicting the characters and their personalities. I am looking forward to reading the other entries in this series with great anticipation.

descriptionThe covers for this series are all on the generic side IMO. Again this doesn't give you a feel for the story found within. Sure the guy is hot, but it could be the cover for a thousand other romance books as well. The typography is interesting, but the composition feels off with the placement of the text.description

description This one was OK. I enjoyed it more than book two, but less than book one. This was yet another one of these ridiculous "bro code" stories that annoy me to no end. This one was especially head scratching since the hero knew what her husband had done but still acted all martyr-like about getting involved with his buddies wife. I would have thought the bro code would go out the window when you find out something like that is being done to the woman you claim to have loved for years. But what do I know...

On the positive side of things, I do enjoy this author's writing. Hopefully, the next book will be bro code free. *lol*description

The Right Army Ranger by Donna Michaels
The Men of At-Ease Ranch series #3. Cowboy and former military romance. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Haley Wagner is a widow, struggling to keep her ranch solvent. After a storm, she’s forced to get help from neighbor, Cord Brannigan, who was a teammate of her late husband. Cord promised his buddy that he’d keep an eye on Haley but he has feelings for her he’s finding harder to hide. Working together to save the ranch, Haley and Cord can no longer resist the sizzling chemistry between them.

Friends to lovers, both feeling slightly guilty about the attraction. The former husband and teammate has been gone for more than three years and proximity gets the best of them. Blistering heat ends the secrets. Their love is inevitable.

I was looking for a sexy, fun and lighthearted romance and The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels hit the spot.

This sort-of-friends to lovers romance was a great read with the overflowing chemistry between the main characters who desperately wanted to hide said attraction but failed miserably to do so. Everyone saw it. Their friends and family were cheering for them, they even encouraged it. But Haley Wagner and her late husband’s brother in arms Cord Brannigan who promised his friend to always look after her didn’t want to acknowledge it. Until Haley needs help at her ranch and is forced to call the very hot yet decidedly taciturn man which requires they be alone. For three weeks. With each other. And their undeniable attraction. Can they keep to themselves or will they blur the friendship line bound by loyalty?

These two had a huge problem on their hands. Cord and Haley were more than attracted to each other and could probably smell it from a mile away, but were stubbornly resolved not to show it or act on it because of the deceased man that connected them. But Cord had loved Haley for years and was jealous that his friend Drew had such an incredible woman.

Tragedy struck though and even though Haley is now free and Cord has the blessing and go-ahead from everyone, guilt weighs him down. It’s not enough to overshadow her pull though. The tension between them becomes too much to contain and sparks fly when they finally give in and not just on a physical level, even though that’s how it starts. The feelings they have for each naturally grow, but misunderstandings and lack of communication can throw a wrench in any plan.

The Right Ranger is book #3 in the Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. It is a sexy and fun standalone contemporary romance. Told from two points of view with a happy ending.

I usually do not include spoilers in my reviews, but in this case, I want to include some things that happened in the book because they bothered me and I will be able to express myself.

I was wondering why does the dead spouse have to be someone who cheats? Lately, it seems to have become a trend. I don't understand why Haley's first husband had to cheat on her. Why couldn't he be a nice guy with whom she fell in love and lived happily until the day he died and then have Cord come and make her see that her world didn't end with the death of her husband. You can fall in love with someone and have another one be the love of your life.

The bro code was a silly thing to slow the inevitable from happening. I don't understand why Cord was so keen on not doing anything with his dead buddy's wife when he knew a couple of things regarding Drew. I am not happy with the secrets thing which turned out to not be a secret since they already knew about it. The drama that followed was a tad too much for me and I felt like it was a step back from the character development I was expecting. I am worried because a cow was the highlight of the book. That cow is the only fun part of the book. I would love to see the wedding with her as a part of the ceremony.I am not giving this book a lower rating because despite everything I managed to finish the book quickly and I wasn't bored.

The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels was very enjoyable read.

I enjoyed the storyline, it was one of those reads that once you started reading you couldn't put it down. I found myself saying just one more chapter a lot lol
Haley and Cord were likable, endearing characters that warmed my heart watching their relationship unfold.
The drama towards the end was easily dealt with, with honest communication and a little kick in the pants from Cord's friends :D
These two were perfect for each other and totally deserved their happily everafter.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

Great edition to this already sexy series. We have two stubborn, honest and loyal people. One has turned inward due to duty and guilt but also memories that won’t go away. Another from not wanting to tarnish anyone’s memory of the hometown hero.

Cord and Haley have insane chemistry. She is stubborn and doesn’t want him to think badly of Drew and he is stubborn and is afraid with all his baggage and his promise to Drew that he isn’t what she needs. He doesn’t want to hurt her.

As they spend time together the tension can be cut with a knife but they also grow. He lets go of some of his feeling of duty, honor and responsibility. He lets go of the guilt and begins to live again. She sees herself leaning on someone and not having to do it all alone. They are equals and respect one another. Both help each other feel and come alive again.

When the sexual energy finally comes to a head wowza. Sparks fly and we get some sexy as sin moments. The biggest intimacy is when they open up to one another and let each other in. One stupid misunderstanding has them taking a step back but Cord fixes that.

this is a sexy saucy fun tale of two people who are lost. One in his mind and duty and the other in trying to prove herself. Both wanting to protect the other from getting hurt. And both madly in love with one another. Their love story is not a fast quick one but grows over time as they work out their issues and get closer to one another heart and soul. A really wonderful read.

The Right Ranger is the third book in the Men of At Ease Ranch series by Donna Michaels. I have not read either of the first two books, but we did get to see glimpses of the two couples from those books, and I really liked them, so I might eventually go back and read their stories. As for Haley and Cord's story. I liked it. It was a super quick read for me. Easy to digest in one short sitting, but I didn't love it if I am honest with myself. It was a good read, but not much more than that.

Cord is Haley's deceased husband's best friend. But the whole book Haley is carrying this burden of her husband's secrets. Honestly, it was really intriguing for me. I knew some of what he did, but the way Haley spoke about it, I felt like there was way more than we were being kept in the dark about. I was super interested to find out what all of the secrets were. But Haley was very noble about the whole thing and she didn't want to taint his friend's view of their friend. I respected that. But I ended up being disappointed by the way the secrets all played out.

The part of the story that was my favorite, was obviously the romance between Cord and Haley. It was so clear to see that these two had chemistry. I enjoyed watching their romance unfold. It was excellent actually. They sizzled off the page. The rest of the story is what let me down. I'm not really sure what I wanted, but I just wanted more. Overall, this was a quick and fun read. It just didn't blow me away. But the characters and the writing were solid and the romance was well done.

Army Ranger Wallpaper

The Right Ranger is a sexy, sweet friend to lovers story. Haley is a widow of an Army Ranger, Drew, whose fellow teammates have all retired and now live in Texas near Haley's ranch. She was having a hard time even before Drew died two years earlier, and now really needs Cord's help with getting her ranch ready to be converted into a horse stabling ranch, rather than the cattle ranch it used to be. She's desperate, her foreman has injured himself, and she's been forced to let go most of the rest of her crew, so she needs Cord's help. He's the last person she wants to ask for help from, but desperate times call for desperate means, so she has to reach out to him.

Of course Cord is glad to help, not only because she's Ranger family, but because he's been in love with and attracted to her since even before Drew died. He has no intention of acting on his feelings, but when Haley presents an offer of no strings fun, he can't possibly resist. But, these two both have secrets troubling them, and neither wants to upset the cart, so to speak, so a relationship beyond some casual fun just may be impossible. There's no way they wouldn't fall for each other, though, what with being in such close contact for the time Cord is there to help, and their chemistry is way too strong to ignore.

Haley and Cord make a great couple. They've obviously had feelings for each other for a long time, so everything is pent up from years of hiding. The sexual tension between the two is palpable, from the very first page. And the fact that they have their friends and families' acceptance, no, enthusiasm, for them to take their friendship further, really helps them go for it. I really like the rest of the cast too, and am planning on reading the rest of the series.

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

The Right Ranger is book 3 of Ms Michaels series titled The Men of At Ease Ranch. A ranch created to help veterans find a home and a life after serving their country.
I have enjoyed the series and this book is one of the best stories of the series.
Haley Wagner and ex-Army Ranger Cord Brannigan are the main characters . Hayley is the widow of one of an Army Ranger team memberd and now is trying to get the ranch she inherited up and running as a horse boarding ranch. Cord offers to help. He held her dying husband during combat , and feels he needs to protect her by keeping a truth he knows of her husband. Cord also has been in love with her for years, but never acted on it out of respect.
Both are keeping secrets . Secrets that at one point causes them to be torn apart.
Characters from previous stories make an appearance and it’s nice to see how they are coming along.
All that said, it’s also a story about how we as a nation, have a responsibility to help the returning men and women who dedicate their lives to preserve our freedom. Also a reminder that for a relationship to succeed there has to be trust, honesty, respect and communication. And let’s not forget love.
Kudos to Ms Michaels for another winner.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
When former army ranger Cord receives a call for assistance from his army buddy's wife he goes to her immediately. Haley having lost her husband in war has had a difficult time keeping the ranch going and hopes that Cord can help her with some of the heavy duty work. Cord and Haley have great chemistry but Cord will not be with Haley because of her late husband and the guilt he holds for his death. Will they be able to resist one another.

I've loved this whole series and this may be my favorite to date. Haley and Cord just work so well together I couldn't help but fall in love with them. There's a nice easy flow to the story that just keeps you turning the pages. This is a great story of two people fighting an attraction due to a sense of honor but in the end is inevitable. They both keep secrets that could hurt the other and could ultimately drive them apart. Grab a copy of this one and enjoy their story! I highly recommend it.

Donna Michaels has a penchant for writing stories of independent women with one major flaw. Pride. It leads to their downfall, every time. Of course there's always the thrill of a hot guy to help cushion the fall. For Haley and Cord rebuilding their friendship is an uphill battle, littered with secrets and promises. Can their burgeoning romance survive the drama heading it's way? The Right Ranger has classic written all over it.

I have been waiting for Cord and Haley's story for a while and even though it wasn't smooth sailing for them it was a great ride. The chemistry between Haley and Cord was phenomenal. I didn't see how Cord thought he would be able to live under the same roof as Haley for three weeks and not act on their attraction, but I would give him a A just for trying ;)

Haley Wagner is a very independent woman, determined not to rely on her ex-husband's comrades to help her with the ranch she inherited. But when she finds herself struggling to stay on top of things around the ranch, she calls on Cord Brannigan. Working side by side, they both do their best to ignore the chemistry between them, but it's impossible. Will Haley get a second chance at happy ever after, or will the secrets they're both keeping coming to light tear them apart?

The first two books of this series are absolutely riveting, and this third book of Ms. Michaels Men of At Ease Ranch series is another captivating addition to it due to the wonderful main characters, the dialogue that shows the tight bonds between Cord and his ex-military comrades, and the fact that this story encompasses the forbidden romance trope. The way this story started had me completely hooked, because Cord can't believe Haley needs him. The woman is stubborn and independent and it's palpable that she desperately needs help, if she's calling him. However, what I liked most about the start is when the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time. There is seriously strong chemistry between them and always has been, but now they're actually able to do something about it, because Haley's husband is no longer a hindrance. Yet, in Cord's mind she'll always be forbidden; the one woman he can never have.

The dialogue was entertaining and had me reading quickly because of the secrets both the hero and heroine are keeping; the fact that Cord believes Haley is off-limits and there's no way anything can happen between them; the cow that loves to annoy Jovy (the heroine of the first book of this series) because of its love for one of the secondary characters, Stone; and how the secondary characters are determined to push Haley and Cord together. Furthermore, the heroine is strong and brave in everything she's had thrown at her when it comes to what her husband did and how she's dealt with managing the ranch. I also liked how determined she was to put her plans into action for the ranch, and the fact that she's willing to admit how desperate she is for Cord's help.

While Cord, he's been through so much in his life and it's understandable why he's so loyal and determined to help others and never put himself first. I also liked that he was willing to keep his promise to a fallen comrade, even though it's hard to be around Haley without wanting to take their friendship and turn it into so much more, which eventually happens when their strong chemistry spills over onto the pages in hot sex scenes that illustrate Haley or Cord had no chance of denying their feelings. Yet, what I liked most about the hero is how Haley always brings out the best in him. He hasn't been the same since his teams last mission, which was a mission that went south and his interactions with the heroine reveal that he can move forward and be happy, if he's willing to take a chance and not be held back by his guilt of the secret he's keeping from her.

Overall, Ms. Michaels has delivered another fantastic read for this series where the secondary characters entertained me just as much as the main ones because of their teasing banter and desire to see Cord and Haley happy. Furthermore, the last chapter and epilogue wrapped this story up perfectly due to the trouble the cow again likes to cause for Jovy and the way Cord makes things right between him and Haley because she means everything to him. I would recommend The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels, if you enjoy stories encompassing ex-military heroes, the forbidden relationship trope, or books by authors Joya Ryan, Kate Pearce, Jennifer Ryan or Cora Seton.

Yes, I confess, I am in love with the Men at Ease Ranch, both as a series and as individual characters! And not even because of the hot ranger cowboy thing going on there, even if it does help, but because of what they stand for, because of who they are, what they are doing, and how they are willing to do the hard things, be the leaders, take care of their brothers and sisters in arms even after the service, that is what matters to me.
When you add Donna Michaels' style of writing; the mix of subtle humor and laugh out loud funny things, the smooth flow of the tale with the stories finely balanced with romance, sexy times, conflicts, and angst, and it is no wonder Men at Ease Ranch is a series I eagerly anticipate with new installments.
That's enough fangirling for now...

Haley Wagner and Cord Brannigan has that spark, that energy, that special connection that binds people together, that draws them to each other. They have had it for years, but there was that little problem of Haley's husband, one of Cord's best friends and ranger buddies. Because Cord is an honorable, honest, kind, and considerate, the fact that his friend has been dead for two years, is still a hindrance to him to pursuit Haley.
Haley's heart and self-esteem have been crust before and she is not ready to experience that again anytime soon. But the attraction she feels for Cord isn't something she can hide, even though acting upon it could backfire. Haley is a fierce, strong, and independent woman who has spunk and loyalty. Even if her husband did her wrong, she still protects his secrets to save the image his brothers has of him.
I loved Cord and Haley together, they are friends, lovers, and work mates. They see each other in a unique way, that encourages the other to be the best possible version of themselves. The feelings they have for each other are visible, tangible force in the air, and only the secrets they are holding from each other could damage the harmony they have created.
I loved the story, the tension, and the symmetry of the relationship. The conflict is earth shattering yet not something that can't be fixed with hard work, communication, and forgiveness. The whole cast and crew have screen time and the characters from the previous books make appearances, yet I do believe this could be enjoyed as a stand alone if you so choose.
A not-to-be-missed series that I highly recommend for all steamy romance fans, perfect summer reading!

The Right Ranger
By: Donna Michaels

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star Review by Kristie K

Broken pasts breed broken hearts, but Donna Michaels delivers the cure in The Right Ranger…Love…

What do you get when two friends with an unspoken chemistry, interwoven and broken pasts, and hidden secrets are brought together for a common goal? The Right Ranger, by Donna Michaels…that’s what you get. Cord Brannigan promised his fallen Ranger teammate that he would take care of his wife for him, but he never realized at the time just how hard that would be. Haley Wagner is everything Cord wants, and everything he can’t have. The widow of his best friend and teammate, Cord holds a secret that will shatter Haley’s heart, and he doesn’t want to betray his friend by following his heart. When Haley calls upon the handsome Ranger to help her on the ranch, she isn’t prepared for the overwhelming attraction and surge of emotion Cord pulls from her. As the limits of their control is tested, and their friendship grows, so do the undeniable sparks of electricity that hum between them. When they finally give into their attraction, the heat is so great they might just burn down the barn. When secrets are revealed, and assumptions are made, their newfound relationship is pushed to the limits…

I loved this story! It was such a sweet and sensual romance between two people with broken hearts, and broken pasts. So much hurt and devastation between the two of them, and no real idea of how to maneuver through the wreckage of their past. The characters were incredible. I fell head over heels for the beautiful and broken Ranger that Cord was, and cheered him on when he made the strides necessary to heal. Haley was a down to earth, loving, sweet, kind woman with a heart of gold. Determined to make her way in the world, and leave it not only a better place, but do it on her own two feet. She was an inspiration. Each character had their own soul, their own mind, and a heart all their own. They were so easy to love, and authentic in their realism. The plot and storyline were well thought out, and executed. Ms. Michaels threw in just enough twists to keep it interesting, but not overshadow the love story brewing between them. The cover was HOT, and totally fun. The blurb held enough hook to pull you in for a taste of something more. Ms. Michaels has a great writing style that is easy and fun to read. I look forward to checking out what else Ms. Michaels has on her bookshelf.

The thing about The Men of At Ease Ranch series that I loved since day one was the camaraderie between former Rangers who built new life at At Ease Ranch. The closeness and familiarity practically leaped from the page and brought smile to my face. Cord - especially - drew my attention over his close friendship with Brick and his apparent care to his sister on Her Secret Ranger. So of course I grabbed the chance to read his story.

This third installment to the series finally brought together Cord and his late teammate's widow, Haley. The mutual attraction that had been suppressed for years finally exploded when Cord stayed in Haley's ranch to help with some improvements. The characters were quite likable. Haley was an independent woman. As described on blurb, Cord was drool-worthy. But it's his ability to refrain - years not acting on the attraction because of buddy code, sure. But still - that I thought not to underestimate.

That said, once they followed on that sexual pull... man, was the pages on fire with their sexy times. I'm not big on too many steamy scenes, though. So, rather than adding a point, this serve to damp my mood instead. And it's too bad other important factor in their relationship related to Haley's late husband, Drew, being dragged until almost the last chapter of the book. The conclusion that happened only after intervention also didn't sit well with me. Especially as both already owned up to their fault privately; why wait the other to make a move??

There's a quote (and I loved Stone for saying it) that aptly illustrated this situation:
"We were rangers for years, Cord. You don't just turn that off. Of course our minds would automatically think of our team. That's how we survived. That said... damn, man, you were an idiot."

In short, I enjoyed The Right Ranger fine. But - considering how I loved Cord in previous book - not as much as I wish I would.

Let's be real, this cover drew me right to this book. And then I read that blurb and really wanted to read it. Love military guys and there's no doubt I'm on board for him 'trying' to keep his hands off her.

Here's the deal though, I missed part of the book. The part that wasn't written. I will admit that this is a book three but it's campaign books so I figured I'd be okay. Yet I still felt like I missed a whole lot of story.

I'm a show me kinda story girl. I want to hear the conversations where they get to know each other. I want to experience the awkward meals they share. I want to get details about the work they're doing together. (I swear they worked on building a fence and cleaning out stalls for most of the three weeks.) But those experiences were just summarized and I was so sad. I kept finding myself saying "Wait, what happened!?" And because of that happening over and over again, I just didn't buy it. And while I did like these characters, they fell flat.

I could give you examples but that would spoil the story. Let's just say that the drama between them felt forced and the forgiveness easily won. I did love the grand gesture as far as that went but he didn't use it till she'd already forgiven him.

I wanted so much more from this story. Maybe a flash back to when they had knew each other before the deployment. That prior relationship has a baring on the story yet we really don't know anything about it. Just that his feelings have been there since then. Why? I didn't get it.

The book isn't that long and so I really don't get why it couldn't have had 50 pages more with some more details about the time they spent together. Why skip two days? Nothing happened during that time? Really? They only have 3 weeks together to fall in love people. Don't give away 2 whole days. Yet it happened.

I will admit that the sexual tension is done well and that the attention to detail during the sexy times is high. So if you like the focus to be on the sex and have a couple hours, maybe this one is for you.

Haley, a widow, lost her husband during a mission as he was serving his country. Ever since, she's been struggling, emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. She knows in order to save their ranch she needs to do something she'd rather not...call Cord for help.

Cord, a former Army Ranger, promised his fallen teammate, Drew, that he'd watch over his wife, Haley. This promise, though he will keep it, will be hard for Cord as he's had a crush on Haley for years, and knows a secret regarding her husband. He can handle spending three weeks with her and not acting on his feelings, his attraction, right? But what happens when he discovers it's mutual?

As Cord and Haley work together to save her ranch, the close proximity makes it hard to continue denying how they feel about one another. When they can no longer resist and act upon their connection, the outcome is intense, as both had known it would be.

But what happens afterward? Will they feel guilty for their actions because of how they're connected through Drew? Will Cord share what he knows about her husband, and admit to himself that Drew was not a good husband? Is it the secret Haley has kept in order to not taint Drew in Cord's eyes? Can Haley convince Cord she's already come to terms with Drew and his actions and is ready to move on with him? Will they admit their feelings for one another and take a chance? Or will Drew still come between them, even though he's gone and never deserved Haley? Is there a HEA for them?

One-click now and follow along as two people who've always had feelings for each other finally get to explore what could be. Though it isn't necessary in order to read this one, I do recommend reading the series in order as they're so good, plus, it gives you a nice overview of the foundation of the series and the previous couples and characters that make appearances in future books.

Alight I have been living under a rock or something because I have been seriously missing out on this author! Donna Michaels writes her characters with depth and real life issues. My friend Lisa suggested I read this series and I am so glad I did. I had the motivation to start reading because of this review, but once I started I couldn’t stop. I read all three books in three days, couldn’t put them down! If you haven’t read The Men of At Ease Rach series you NEED to, right away.
Now The Right Ranger is book number three in this amazing series and can be read as a stand-alone. However, I would read them all so you can get to know all the fun they have been having. This book is about Cord and Haley; they have known each other a long time and always felt there was something between them. They both resisted the attraction because Haley was married to a friend and fellow Ranger of Cord’s. Both are honorable, trustworthy, people who life to their own code of right and wrong. Now, Haley is a widow now going on 2 years when our story picks up. Cord is still keeping his distance to honor a vow he made to her deceased husband, to protect her. To him that also meant not to touch her. The problem occurs when they are alone together for three weeks. Temptation is a lot harder to resist when it’s so available. Sparks fly, and guilt hits Cord, secrets they are both keeping could destroy not only their friendship but their attraction too. What will they do when the secrets won’t stay shoved in the drawer? Find out when you read The Right Ranger!
I Loved Cord in all three books, I saw he was just as hurt by the past as the other and had a story all his own. I needed to know what that was and see if he could let it go enough to have a HEA. Trust me when I say this was a fantastic book that will stick with you for a long time after you read it! Grab the book and get to your spot to read!

Cord Brannigan is about to meet his match in the one woman that he's been secretly pining for for years.

Haley Wagner is living with a secret and the last thing she wants is have the one man that makes her weak in the knees under her roof. However she's between a rock and a hard place and needs help to make her ranch ready for her new business.

Cord and Haley have an insane attraction to each other and they fight it with everything they have, but you can only fight their kind of attraction for so long.

So can what started as fun with no strings and quickly turned into something deep and meaning last when secrets are finally revealed? Or are something things just to hard to overcome?

I was super excited to finally get my hands on Cord... will his book at least. He the strong silent type that you just know has the biggest heart and soul when you look behind the tough exterior. And that is exactly what we get and more in this stunning read. The I began to learn about Cord, the more I swooned.

And Haley is a force to be reckoned with. She's a strong independent woman that has worked hard to stand on her own two feet. What I love about her is her strength. She knows what needs to get done and she gets to done. Even when she needs to call in help, she doesn't slack off, she's right there kicking butt and taking names. She's hard when she needs to be and soft when the situation calls for it.

Cord and Haley's story was a love story many years in the making and what a incredible story it is. And when Cord finally decided he was done sitting on the sidelines, he be The Right Ranger for Haley.

If you are looking for a sexy cowboy hero, a phenomenal heroine, and a love as big as Texas, then pick The Right Ranger is just what you need. And if need more rangers to keep you warm at night, then be sure to check out the rest of the Men of At Ease Ranch series.

I Was Provided A ARC Through NetGalley
(Possible Spoilers)

Quite and stubborn, ex army ranger Cord Brannigan, just isn't himself lately, he has been caring around a lot of guilt the past couple of years, after the loss of one of the men on his team. And on top of that, he finds himself having to fight the explosive chemistry he feels towards the one woman he can't have. But that doesn't stop Cord from running to Haley Wagner's ranch, when she calls for help. The equally stubborn, sassy mouth woman, has held Cords interest for years, but as the wife of his fallen teammate, Cord knows he could never act on that attraction. But alone on her ranch, fixing up her land, and helping make her dream come true, those feelings are harder to ignore and hide.

Haley knows she's in for a hard few weeks, sharing her home with the sexy, quite, Cord Brannigan. He man be a ass at times, but he dropped everything to help her, and as the days past, Haley finds herself having a hard time hiding the attraction she feels for Cord. But, Cord being her late husbands friend and former teammate, secrets from the past, lies, and the worry of a broken heart, makes it complicated, to embrace the attraction the two share. Everyone around them knows that they are exactly what each other needs. Now if only they can let go and take that chance.

The men of At-Ease Ranch, and the spunky women who love them, their stories are must reads. The Right Ranger is for sure my favorite in the series. I just had so much love for the sexy alpha, Cord. And the sarcastic and sweet, Haley. They are both stubborn and independent holding onto a secret and filled with guilt, and longing for more, a fresh start. It is a beautiful, sweet, swoon-worthy, summer romance.

**I received a copy of The Right Ranger from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**

The Right Ranger by Donna Michaels is the third book in her Men of At Ease Ranch. I have read all three and really think that this one is my favorite. This is Cord and Hayley's story and I loved it so I'd give it 5 stars for everything and hope that there will be more books in the series.

Cord Brannigan made a dying promise to his teammate Drew but he has a secret that could break Hayley's heart. Little does he know that she already is aware of the secret and is ready to move on with her life. She has asked Cord to help her make her ranch into a boarding facility but only has three weeks to complete it before the first horses arrive. When he finds out that Hayley's only ranch hand has a broken leg the tasks seem a bit larger especially with the time crunch. But can he keep his hands off her? He hopes that she has felt an attraction they have, could they have a future together?

Hayley Wagner wants only two things to make her ranch a success and let Cord know that she is ready to move on from Drew and if she has to make the first move then so be it. But even though Cord feels a loyalty to his former teammate what he doesn't know is that Hayley knows the kind of person Drew was and also who his death benefit divided out to. But when these two get together finally sparks will fly, but when he finds some paperwork of Hayley's will Brick, Stone, Lizzie and Jovy be able to set him on the right path so that both Hayley and Cord can finally have their own happiness?

Fun and sexy off-limits romance with a strong simmering attraction while trying to do the right out of honour

The Right Ranger is an off-limits romance that is a wonderful addition to this small town series. With an undercurrent of simmering attraction that teeters on the edge of spilling over whenever the two characters are together, the strong sense of doing the right thing in order to honour leads to secrets unravelling in surprising twists to make this a fun read!

Told from dual point of view, Haley and Cord have a seriously sizzling attraction but their misplaced honour threatens to keep them apart. Both Haley and Cord have a strong stubborn streak in them, especially Haley who is determined to be independent and not need to rely on anyone to help with her ranch. However, when forced into close quarters for a period of time, things heat up and that stubborn streak turns in a rather sexy heat!

While this is book three in the series and couples from earlier books do crop up, you do not need to have read the previous books as this is a standalone read.

Definitely recommend this book and series, especially if you lean towards cowboy/former army men!

When everything in your life has flipped upside down, the only thing standing between you and ruin is the help of friends. Even if you desperately do not want that help. Haley Wagner's life has suffered a number of hits, from the loss of her husband while overseas in the military, to the dream farm that the two planned to build. When her last ranch hand is injured on the job, she has no choice than to reach out to Cord Brannigan, a Former Army Ranger officer who served with her husband. The biggest problem accepting help from Cord? The mutual attraction that they feel for each other. But when Haley's husband asked Cord to watch over Haley, Cord is sure that he did not mean in this way. Will they be able to navigate through the past to find their chance at happiness?

I have adored The Men of At Ease Ranch from the very first book, and while each one has been better than the last, boy did Ms. Michael's save the best for last! The emotional rollercoaster that we were taken on this book was incredible, from the wrenching grief for Haley and all that she has gone through to the pride for what Cord and his buddies that built at the ranch to the happy sighs by the end of the book. This series, especially this book, have been extremely fast reads for me because I just did not want to stop reading. And while this is book 3 in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. But why would you want to?

After I finished The Right Ranger, two questions immediately came to mind. Is Vince next? And how the hell did I miss the 2nd book?! I devoured the first book and freaking loved The Right Ranger, how on earth did I miss Beth and Brick's book? I will fix that wrong lickety–split! And speaking of lick (see what I did there...), we need to take a moment to admire these covers. Holy Abs, Batman!

Okay, back to The Right Ranger. I loved every moment of this book. Although this may only be the 2nd book of Donna's that I've devoured, she is quickly becoming a new favorite author. Her writing is a mix of hilarious and sexy-as-hell moments in one sinful bundle. Haley and Cord were wonderful together. I wanted to hug the insecurity out of Haley. Even though the poor girl has been through so much, she's still standing proud with a dream that she'll work her ass off to achieve. Cord is, well... He's Cord. Sexy as hell with a soft spot for Haley, the woman he's loved from afar. The chemistry and sexual tension is undeniable between these two. How they managed to keep their hands off each other for even a day is beyond me. I'm surprised their clothes didn't evaporate the second they are in the same room. I could go on about how much I adored this book, but honestly, I just want you to read it and enjoy this series as much as I am. Then we can admire the abs together...

I received an advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book is the third book in the series but they all completely stand alone (no cliffhangers) so you can read them in any order as long as you don't mind small details about the previous couples being spoiled. There is both cursing and on-screen sex in this one, so if that isn't your jam, you might not enjoy this, but you'll be missing a beautiful story...and, to be totally honest, really hot chemistry.

This book was exactly – EXACTLY – what I wanted for Cord and Haley's story. When we met serious, stoic, by-the-book Cord in the previous books, I knew that a woman was going to take him down to his knees hard and I was just hoping that it would be Haley and that their story would have the kind of intensity and chemistry that a relationship featuring a character like Cord should bring, and this book did not disappoint. These two had amazing chemistry from the very beginning, and it was so much fun watching them dance around each other, knowing that they wouldn't be able to resist their attraction. I get the whole “Ranger code” and all that, but I have no idea how the two of them held out for as long as they did, considering the sparks that flew between them.

This series has been so wonderful that I hope that there are more to come because I cannot get enough of the Men of At Ease Ranch. If you like a book about 'forbidden romance' (which is mostly only forbidden in their minds) and a book about two really great characters who find love together despite fighting it as hard as they can, you have got to read this book.

I requested and was very generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley. I was under absolutely no obligation to write this review, I did so because this book was fabulous.

Another excellent romance from Donna Michaels' "The Men of At Ease Ranch" series. The men of At Ease Ranch are ex military/cowboys with plenty of macho and sex appeal.

In this book we met Cord who is going to help Haley a fallen Ranger's wife that lives near his hometown of Joyful. As Drew took his last breath Cord promised him would look after his wife Haley. The problem is that Cord has been half in love with Haley for years so until now he has kept his promise from a distance out of respect. Haley is losing her ranch and trying to revive it by opening a horse boarding service but when her only remaining ranch hand breaks a leg she has to ask for his help to get the fences up in time.

It doesn't take long for things to heat up. They are both keeping secrets that could tear them apart.
Will they be able to revive their relationship when all is revealed? Be sure to read this sexy romance to find out.

This is the third book in the series so the delightful characters that were introduced in book 1 & 2 are present in this book. The book is written as a standalone so it is not necessary to read the series in order but if you haven't read the first two you are truly missing out on some great books.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book provided by Entangled Publishing and NetGalley.

“Promise me, man. I need you to promise me you’ll watch over her.”

The Right Ranger is not only the third book in Donna Michaels’ The Men of At Ease Ranch series—it's also the third one I've loved reading.

I am absolutely enamored with these Rangers-cum-Cowboys. They're charming and swoony, gruff and damaged, and very, very hot. And Cord might be my favorite… so far.

His connection with Haley was teased in Her Secret Ranger and, as I said in my review then, I expected their story to pack a bit more of a wallop emotionally than had the first two. And while it did manage to wring a couple of tears out of me, The Right Ranger was, for the most part, light, humorous and sexy.

Which was a fabulous combination. Well-written by Ms. Michaels, who delivers a romance that is overflowing with chemistry, burdened by secrets, and ultimately, very rewarding, this story stole and kept my attention long enough to make it a one-sitting read.

And to make it another excellent installment in a must-read series for lovers of love and romance, heat and heart and, most especially, Rangers-cum-Cowboys.

The incredible man more than touched her heart; he held it in both hands.
