“PART FOUR” Nile starts to get the hang of things, and Andy’s armor begins to crack. Joe and Nicky visit Dubai (not by choice), and Booker gets a line on Copley...much to Copley’s chagrin.
Greg Rucka, is an American comic book writer and novelist, known for his work on such comics as Action Comics, Batwoman: Detective Comics, and the miniseries Superman: World of New Krypton for DC Comics, and for novels such as his Queen & Country series.
The Dialogue, the worldbuilding, the storytelling, the art. My goodness, is there anything in this comic that isn't mind-blowingly awesome? Maybe the fact that it eventually comes to an end? I love the exploration of how much it truly would suck if you were to be immortal and live forever, constantly out living the people you care about, not really knowing how to remain human again, how to feel or continue feeling, being so out of touch and, most importantly, being so god damn bored.
Kind of makes you sorry for these semi-immortals. Andy had her own "Who Wants to Live Forever" moment (my favorite Queen song) this issue. Looking forward to how they wrap things up in the first arc. When does the Netflix series start?
(Guess who just decided to read all current issues of The Old Guard in one sitting? Oh yes, it's me)
Well, this issue is definitely much more exciting compared to the last one! Apart from that, we also get a little backstory both from Andy and Nile. I loved that.
Now we are getting somewhere, this is different than the movie for better or worse but still good. More past lives of the immortals and more gore. Excited for the next one.
I'm really enjoying this new series, don't know if I like it as much as Rucka's Lazarus yet, but its solid. Rucka always seems to find that perfect balance between action and story, and what I mean is he builds characters and develops the plot and doesn't just try to drown us with action panels and splash pages. Great stuff!
I find it difficult to believe that regardless of how old one becomes (particularly when one doesn't age), one doesn't attempt a passing knowledge of how some technology works.
We get to the 4th of the 5 parts and things are diverting from the Netflix adaptation but of course, it had to be otherwise the movie would be only 30 minutes or so.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
i mean, i understand why they had to change in the movies but ooh i like it like this more, andy being clueless about technology to the point of not realising something obvious it's pretty accurate considering everything... (also? she'd know the weight of a loaded gun by now, guys, it makes no sense that she would have an empty gun in he hand and not notice...)
