Henry Bright has a picture-perfect life as a rising star in the country rock scene—fortune, fame, and more lovers than he can shake a stick at. But something is missing. The glitz of Nashville is nothing more than glitter and tinfoil. Searching for authenticity in his life, he completes his DVM in veterinary medicine and returns to Wyoming. He takes a job as a vet at the Triple Star Ranch, hoping to find meaning and connection. He just didn’t expect to find love.
Trip Colton’s wife died over thirty years ago and he figured that was it for love. But the moment he meets Henry, he can’t get the younger man off his mind. The problem is, he’s never been attracted to a man before and the realization throws him for a loop. Dating is hard at any age, but Trip’s out of practice and wooing a man is completely different than wooing a woman.
When Henry’s former manager, Jordie, tracks him to Wyoming and begs the star to come back to the music biz, tensions damage the fragile connection between Henry and Trip. Jordie will do anything to convince Henry to return, even playing on his prejudices and hinting at Trip’s infidelity. But when the bank keeps calling with alerts on Henry’s accounts, he suspects there’s more going on with Jordie than a simple comeback music tour. Ultimately, Henry must choose where his heart lies, and who to trust, before he loses more than his chance at love.

So this book was… something. I got it on a free or .99¢ deal… not even sure. But a age gap bi-awakening? Heck yea!
My god this book is a mess. Full of problematic language and probably one of the most bi-phobic books I’ve ever read. I don’t care that this book is 5 years old, that language was problematic in 2017, too.
There was dialogue and phrasing repeated over and over and tons of missed edits.
This is supposed to be contemporary but one MC talked to the ghost of his dead wife throughout, the other MC was supposedly her reincarnated, and that MC had an “energy sensing” gift with the animals he treated.
And Henry has to be one of the dumbest most immature characters I have ever read. Poor Trip. I for one love huge age gaps like this. I love reading about older men… but in this case, almost-30-year-old Henry behaved more like a child. Not only did he abandon his music career overnight without a word, he vanished from the vet job for A MONTH. Because of a really stupid miscommunication.
The connection between them wasn’t written very well so by the time they were already throwing around the word “love” I was scratching my head.
I’m not really sure why I finished this, especially since the last 25% was physically painful to read.
Then, no epilogue. Unless it’s a continuous series of the same couple, there should always be a damn epilogue. Especially with a couple that’s on unsteady ground at the end of the book like these two were.
This story is amazingly sweet, with just the right amount of passion to keep you on the edge of your seat. I could not put this book down. The heartbreaking emotions of it's main characters draws you in and refuses to let go. Although this is not one of my preferred genres I found it breathtaking in its simplicity of true romance. The way this author brings her characters together with just the right amount of tension to make it a remarkably real and heart tugging story. I really enjoyed the back stories to the characters and the trepidation between all parties involved. The realistic issues between all of the characters of this book and not just the main two made it a "full meal"! Thank you Siobhan Muir for bringing this tale to light and for sharing such a soul touched story! Henry Bright has become jaded and miserable with his "Country Rock Star" lifestyle and has decided to chuck it all for the peace and quiet of home, Wyoming to exact. While living in his Country Rock Wold, he still found time to finish his degree as a Veterinarian, a passion he has that was just as strong if not stronger than his music. When he decides to leave it all behind, he heads on back to Wyoming, the only place he felt he could relax and be himself. With the help of an old friend he is able to do exactly what he was hoping to do, get a job on a local ranch as a Vet and be able to work with the animals that hold a part of him. Trig Colton has been widowed for over thirty years, he and his son run Trip Star Ranch, a Ranch dedicated to helping both humans and animals with PTSD. When an accident lays down their personal Vet, they are in serious need of help to keep their animals healthy and happy. When neighbor Ransom Knight informs them he has a friend looking for work, it is as if the perfect match was found. But how will things follow after Henry and Trig meet? When they both find themselves attracted, they are confused yet happy. How will this affect these two strong minded men and the lives around them? Will they be able to find happiness or will insecurities and the past keep them apart? I recommend this to anyone who loves a sweet romance with a HEA. WELL DONE!🌺
I must start off by saying that m/m romance is not a genre that I normally read. However, I love Siobhan Muir's stories, so I decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did! I learned very quickly that this book is not an erotic m/m romance full of gratuitous sex scenes. No, this is a profound love story that affected me clear down to my core. It was heartwarming, at times heartbreaking, sweet, sad, frustrating, and passionate all rolled up into one book. Henry is a burned out country-rock star, who just wants to go back to Wyoming to live a simple life and make use of his veterinary certification. He feels an instant attraction to the Triple Star Ranch owner, but is afraid to believe that anyone could ever love him. Trip, the ranch owner, is an older widower who lost his soul mate thirty years before. When he feels an instant attraction to Henry, he has no idea whether he can safely act on it or not. One passage from the story that really stood out for me is when Trip was seeking advice and wondering how he could possibly be attracted to another man. The response was, "Because it’s not the body or gender that attracts you, but rather the person. The first person you fell in love with happened to wear a female body. Now you’re interested in a person who’s wearing a male body." That statement really struck a chord with me! You'll have to read the book to find out who gave that advice. You will be surprised. I ran through the gamut of emotions reading this book. I cried, I laughed, I cheered, and I got frustrated at different times. I stayed up all night to finish it, because I could not put it down. This will be a book that I will keep and read again. I highly recommend you read it. You'll be glad you did!
This was a most interesting book that took some fun twists and turns. I liked that. Here I thought I might be getting a routine mm type story, but this was so much more than that.
I do not often make note of quotes in a story, but in this book a statement caught my eye and I had to highlight it for future reference, "Because it's not the body or gender that attracts you, but rather the person. The first person you fell in love with happened to wear a female body. Now you're interested in a person who is wearing a male body . . . That means you love beyond the outer appearance. You always have. Hell honey, you've loved horses as much as people." I found that to be such a profound statement and rather beautiful.
The entire story was rather beautiful. The romance was sweet, if fraught with some real issues. All of the characters - main and secondary - worked to resolve them. I really liked the family feel. There was also some interesting drama and intrigue that made this a bit more than just romance. All very nicely done!
Although this is a book two, it does well as a stand-alone. I did go back and read book one, but it really didn't add anymore to this story. So dive in anywhere. The water is fine. That being said, will we be getting Ransom and the Fantasy Ranch's story? I sure hope so. They sound as interesting as the Triple Star Ranch.
This book is a reminder that love knows no bounds! No matter who you are, you love who you love! Trip and Henry know how they feel about each other, but that doesn't stop the insecurities from taking hold. Thank you so much Siobhan Muir for writing such a lovely love story.
Once again I'm so glad I picked up this series<3 it was just as great as the first one. I have to say I think Trip and Henry's story so far is my favorite. I love the messages in this book where age is just a number and that Love is Love no matter the body one wears. I can not wait for more from this author and plan to pick up other books of hers
First and foremost, this is not a book or genre I would normally read being that it is m/m. Despite that, I have absolutely enjoyed it and will definitely reread it over and over and over again. The depth of the characters are detailed and exquisite. The story line and history of those characters really resonated with me with my own history in such a way as to make me want to reread this particular story and to in fact go back to the beginning of the series and read the first book. This is not the first series that this author has written that has made me want to do that but it is definitely something for me to look forward to. This author has never been one to disappoint me in any way or genre.
M/M Is not my normal read but after hearing about this book I just had to read it, The author has done a fab job with this book its fun engaging and it shows how love can come when you least expect it and with someone you really wouldn't expect to be with.
One of my most favourite passages from the story that really stood out so brightly for me is when Trip is seeking advice and he is wondering how he could possibly be attracted to another man. The response was nothing short of brilliant, "Because it’s not the body or gender that attracts you, but rather the person. The first person you fell in love with happened to wear a female body. Now you’re interested in a person who’s wearing a male body."
Epic read by an amazing author I am super impressed.
This is a sweet and charming story. Trip has only ever been attracted to and loved one person, his deceased wife. That is until he meets Henry and finds himself attracted to him and confused about why. Henry left the music world behind because he was tired of the partying and meaningless relationships. When he shows up at Trips ranch he finds himself wildly attracted to him, despite there being a 30 year difference in their ages. As they try to find their way together, drama unfolds from everywhere. Trip and Henry are extremely likable characters and the storyline is captivating. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my voluntary and honest opinion of it.
This is a great book to read. To see you can love and love with everything you have but still have the insecurities come into play. Henry has been out to the public and he knows how hard it is to tell your family and close friends. Trip didn't know he was gay....he's been married before and had a child. So what happens when he tells everyone but one close friend comes out and tells Trip she's been in love with him forever????? This was so good.
What a wonderful M/M story. Trip has been a widowed for a long time. Henry is giving up music to be a vet on a ranch. Twist and Turns but love will win out in the end. Another great book by Siobhan Muir. Must read could not put it down.
Well, it looks like I'm in the minority with this one and I think I'm a bit surprised. LOL
I'm giving it 3 stars but really I'm somewhere in between 2 and 3 stars. Let me first say, I think this story had HUGE potential, hence the 3 stars. I loved the concept and I really liked the characters but there were some things I had issues with. Most of those issues had nothing to do with the story itself but everything to do with getting pulled out of the story because of the amount of errors, whether wrong word, spelling mistakes or just plain old typos. There are way more than there should be for a story that was edited and proofread.
The other stuff that bothered me are strictly a personal thing. Firstly, the age gap... 30 years is just too much for me. I honestly don't know why but it's something I have a hard time with whether it's in M/M, M/F or in real life for that matter. I'm well aware there are lots of readers that love them and it is great the stories are out there for the ones that do.
Secondly, the dialogue... I want to be able to a get a feel of the characters age by the dialogue but in this story the two younger male characters sounded exactly the same as the older one. Somehow that just felt wrong.
**Note** I know my grammar, puncutation and sentence structure can be horrible and I don't pretend otherwise so I can and do overlook a lot because I get it mistakes happen but and this is a big but, if there is an editor and proofreader I expect more from my stories again that's a personal thing. I really don't mean to offend anyone so I apologize if that's how it may come across.
QUICK THOUGHTS -- Country singing Super Star turned Veterinarian/Military Vet with PTSD rancher pairing -- age difference (30-ish years) -- sexual awakening -- first time everything with a man -- some super sweet moments -- not a ton of sex -- great family and friends -- a despicable manager -- some misunderstandings -- loved the MCs... Henry & Trip -- satisfying ending -- OMG!! that cover is absolutely gorgeous -- everything else is written above
Well written story and well developed characters! Henry is a country singer super star! He's gay and not hiding it from anyone. But.... He's tired of the game of the music industry. He just wants to go home and no one is listening!! So he just ups and leaves! Doesn't know where he's going but he's not staying here!!
