Benji Carhart deserves a vacation. After helping his brother catapult into superstardom working as his manager, he finds himself at a crossroads about what he wants and needs in life. Everything has been about everyone else for so long that he's forgotten how to be on his own with no one to watch out for but himself. An escape to a luxury island resort means finally some time to relax and think about his future. He expected fruity cocktails, sand, sea and maybe a little flirting with other single holidaymakers. What he didn't expect was to meet a man who makes him question everything he's ever thought he knew about his sexuality.
Reign Forester wasn’t supposed to go on vacation alone but when he walks in on his boyfriend with another man days before their trip, he’s left with no choice. He needs some alone time to get his thoughts together after his break up and to finally figure out why he can’t quite seem to be lucky in love, plus the trip's already paid for so what has he got to lose? Other than Reign's wayward love life, he's at a loss over what to do with his beloved bar that's struggling to stay afloat. Reign expected alone time, relaxing at the spa and having one too many cocktails. What he didn't expect was to meet a man that would sweep him off his feet.
When Benji and Reign meet at the resort bar one night, sparks fly and what starts off as an island fling turns complicated when a tropical storm hits the island the day they're supposed to say goodbye for good. But back in their real lives on the mainland could it ever work? Or will what they have always be nothing but a whirlwind holiday romance?
Where I'm Going is a full-length gay romance novel and the third and final book in the Carhart Brothers series. It can be read as a standalone, has no cliffhanger and a very satisfying HEA.
Proofing errors took the shine off this sweet romance
I know it's difficult to catch the little proofing mistakes like a wrong tense or an s on the end of a word, but getting the character's name wrong half way through a paragraph where you've already used the right one is something which shouldn't be missed.
It's such a shame and something which should be caught in the proofing and typesetting process or through beta readers having a go at the ARC before it goes to print.
The reason it's a shame is because it totally distracts from what is a very sweet holiday romance growing into something more special as two characters on the cusp of life changes meet up and have an instant connection.
This is my 2nd favorite book of the series, book one is my fav. That said, once I got past the naming of one of the MC's Reign Forester (yeah I know the author went there) I really loved this book. I love all three of the Carhart Bros. Chase the most, Benji a close second with Riley a bit behind him. I really liked that due to their jobs Chase ended up appearing quite a bit in this book; and getting to know Benji as more than the work-a-holic older str8 brother was great. After reading the book I don't buy the str8 bit too much... but it would not be the first time someone who is gay or bisexual convinced them self neither was true. I think having two brother's come out definitely would make one think.
Warning Spoiler Ahead (just a tiny one and this is an HEA)
I thought the story was great except for the whole "we can't be together" aspect. Benji is an intelligent man who seems to be quick on his feet and able to think out of the box; it should not have taken his mother to solve the issue for him. Especially considering how miserable he was without Reign. All in all a truly enjoyable, heartwarming and yes since I am a wuss tear-inducing ride!!!
Finally the story about Benji, the third Carhart brother. Chase and Jackson (Where I Belong) got married on a tropical island. Benji stays behind to enjoy some long earned vacation. Reign has escaped his home and cheating boyfriend. That doesn’t last long, however. When the two men meet they have an immediate connection.
Parker’s writing has that ‘something’ that has you turning the pages. A well-written storyline and a steady pace. I loved reading about Benji getting his own HEA. He is a loveable character. Selfless, always helping others. He does question his attraction to Reign in the beginning, but not overly so. He accepts that he is not as straight as he thought he was and that he has feelings for a man. Reign is more struggling with the fact that his bar is loosing money than his break-up. He is an optimistic guy, trying his utmost to turn the tide. Together the two men are just perfect. They have so much fun and chemistry. It takes some time to really be with each other, but it is not because of misunderstandings. It is mere the facts of life that they have to overcome.
This is the third book in the Carhart Brothers series. I recommend reading the first two books as well because there are recurring characters and you will appreciate this book so much more.
I was honored with an advanced reader copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this book.
Another great novel in the Carhart Brothers series. A smooth transition to the third and oldest brother as he discovers who he really is as he finds love. Benji is Chase Carhart's manager, a country superstar. After Chase gets married he stays on the tropical island for a two week vacation. He meets Reign, a bar owner from Dallas, who has just broken up from his long term boyfriend. The attraction is immediate even though Benji has thought himself straight, but he realizes there is something there between them. Reign's bar is about to go under and he feels he needs to go home early but a tropical storm delays him. So the two spend a great time together riding it out. The two are at war with their feelings, but they feel a long distance relationship is impossible. Benji lives in Nashville and Reign lives in Dallas. This is their story as Benji's family intervenes. A beautiful love story. Well written. Don't miss this series!❤️❤️
This is my favorite book in the series, bar none. Reign is also now my favorite name for a character, just sayin.
Benji and Reign do not exactly meet at a good time in their lives. Reign has just dumped his cheating long term boyfriend and is trying to come up with ways to revive his failing business while Benji is trying to deal with the changes he sees coming in his life. Oh yeah, and Benji is most definitely straight...until he meets Reign.
Very nice love story between two awesome guys who deserved to find each other. There are a few bumps along the way but they end up together in the end.
As usual, I must commend the writing style. It is very smooth and seamless, very well written and engaging from word 1. Highest recommendation.
Neither of them can resist the attraction and despite what is going on around them, they
Well Parker Elliot does it again I loved Chase and Jackson's story in book two but this was an amazing read! Benji and Reign have a fantastic story to tell and it's full of tension and makes you hold your breath at times as well as frantically turning the page! Parker Elliot does romance so well and so hot you become hooked on the characters and can't wait to get to the end! Of course when you reach the end you wish you hadn't because you want it to go on and on. All I can say is I can't wait for the next book by this author and if you pick up a book by this author I am sure you will feel the same. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book and I can't recommend it strongly enough it's amazing.
Two guys who couldn't be more different. Reign just dumped his ex boyfriend before their vacation trip. Benji's brother/employer Chase just married his husband, and Benji is taking his first vacation on the same island. Both men meet in the bar.
Watch the sparks fly in this third in a series. The book is standalone, and offers a simple Happy Ever After ending.
The guys hit it off right away as friends, since Benji is straight and Reign is gay. During the island vacation, romance begins, but they agree to a friends with benefit status.
After returning to their homes, Bemji visits Reign and helps him put his bar in the black. Afterwards, both men can't give up on their desires. Finally they find a way to each other.
This is such a sweet story. It's hot, don't get me wrong, but it's the sweet that made me love it. The author makes the thoughts and feelings of both Reign and Benji easy to read and understand. The pain and uncertainty is easily felt and the joy they experience when together is so nice to see. The premise is well thought out and the secondary characters are supportive to the storyline. It is nice seeing the characters from books one and two. I am so glad Benji and Reign got their HEA. I continue to enjoy this author.
I am voluntarily reviewing the advance reader copy I received from the author.
This was an excellent ending to the "Carhart Brothers" series. Benji the oldest brother and manager of his brother Chase's career is left feeling alone and forgotten at the island resort after Chase is married and flies off on his honeymoon. Reign is at the resort after his ex-boyfriend cheats on him. He decides that he doesn't want to waste his vacation and goes, even though he is alone and depressed. The two meet and sparks fly. Follow these two men as Benji finds his real sexuality and Reigh fights for his failing bar back in Dalla. A thousand miles apart can these two men make it happen? I would recommend this book to anyone to read.
The names of the characters were mixed up too many times throughout the book. Rushed ending and one of the MCs just doesn't really have to do anything whereas the other gives up everything! Very unbalanced!
The sex scenes felt rushed and there was no hesitation at all by Benji which was strange considering he had never been with a man before! I mean come on, give us at least a hint of some character development!
Overall this was an ok, light and fluffy read but the author didn't really take advantage of the story set up.
This is the third book in the Carhart Brothers series. The writing is thought out and the pace of the book is good. The characters are fully developed and likeable. The MC’s are Benji who is Chase Carhart's manager, a country singing star. And Reign a bar owner in Dallas TX. This book had a cheating boyfriend, a wedding, family, a failing business, a tropical storm, a resort hotel and more. This was an enjoyable read it had humor, frustration, love, and sadness. I would recommend it as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
This is the story of two guys from opposite sides of the country who meet on vacation and just know they are meant to be together. There is one fly in the ointment. Benji is straight and successful manager to his brother the famous country star Chase Carhart whereas Reign owns a failing bar in Dallas. This is a beautifully told story of love conquering all when there was seemingly no way for it to happen.
I love this series and this book was the perfect continuation. Benji deserved a happy ever after and found the perfect man to have it with, even of it took a bit for him to realize it. I just hope there's another book that wraps up the series as this story felt a bit unfinished.
Oh my, I loved Benji and Reign and how did I manage not to read the first 2 books. I will be reading them in the near future. I loved this story, I just wish it had been longer with more development between these two. Almost like it was a long epilogue to the first two stories. I totally enjoyed and would definitely recommend it.
My only complaint is that I would ha e liked a glimpse into Benji and Reigns future. Did Dallas work out for Benji? Did the buy a home in Georgia? Did they get married like the other brothers. Inquiring minds want to know :)
