This is A SHORT STORY. It is intended for the members of Kindle Unlimited who have been requesting me for short, sick, bedtime stories. As part of Kindle Unlimited they are able to download this title for free. If you wish for a longer story to read, please do not purchase any of the White Cover Books (aka 'F*cked-Up Shorts' range of tales). A good place to start would be The Black Cover Books (for lovers of extreme horror).
From the author of Sick B*stards, Rotting Dead F*cks and PORN comes a new short story.
When Mrs. Williams daughter disappears her world crumbles around her. People can only imagine the worry and stress she is feeling as she waits for news of her daughter's whereabouts. People like Laurence... A man with a strong feeling of empathy towards the woman and her missing daughter. A man who believes a letter could be what Mrs. Williams needs to bring her some much needed peace.
MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.
Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.
Favourite books "Roald Dahl's Collection of Short Stories" Tim Burton's Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy Anything, really, written by himself. Because he is that good.
This was a real letter once upon a time in the 1800's written by serial killer and cannibal Albert Fish to the parents of his victim. Shaw did not stray from the original, in fact it was almost line for line. The whole thing is creepy and disturbing, but I was surprised Shaw didn't add more to it. The man has a gift to cross the line of horror and rattle readers to their core. This was not his style, though still a good, short read. Especially for Halloween.
The short story, "Letter From Hell," consists only of a letter written by a 73 year old child killer Laurence Tope to the mother of the victim. it is a quick and brutal read from British horror author Matt Shaw. The letter is very reminiscent to the one written by real life murderer Albert Fish to the parents of his victim Grace Budd. Tope spills out all the details in his correspondence from the kidnapping to the eventual murder and consumption of the child's corpse. Shaw handles such a dark subject delicately, leaving the most gruesome details to the reader's imagination.
"Letter From Hell" is free to Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscribers and costs only 99 cents to everyone else. Check it out.
If you enjoy true crime and have read up on your serial killers then take a few minutes to read this short. Although fiction, this story is very clearly inspired by the real life letter that was written by Albert Fish and sent to the mother of 10 year old Grace Budd shortly after he had murdered and eaten her child. Here's a link to the Wikipedia page on Fish, the page includes a copy of the original letter, misspellings and all. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alber...
I really enjoyed the premise and execution of this short. It very much resembles the actual case of Albert Fish sending a letter to the mother of Grace Budd. One can only imagine the agony and hell any parent would be going through anyway. Then to receive a letter so cold by the killer themselves telling their lifes story. Another great work by Mr. Shaw. Pure 5 stars and I highly recommend it.
