postgreSQL and LibreOffice Base 2017

Rate this book
The Linux software distribution and version used for this book is Ubuntu Unity 16.04 along with postgreSQL 9.5.6 and version 5.1.6.2 of LibreOffice.

You could spend many hours, days, or weeks finding the information contained in this book.

The book will show you how to create a LibreOffice Base client and a postgreSQL server. It will outline how to back up and restore the database, how to write to external files, how to read from external files, how to determine if an external file exists and is not empty, how to create postgreSQL tables, triggers, and stored procedures.

The book also outlines how to create various LibreOffice GUIs, Macros, List Boxes, Combo Boxes, and how to execute bash scripts from the LibreOffice GUI.

This is not a database theory book. This is not a comprehensive LibreOffice Base or postgreSQL tutorial. There are other books for that, but those books will not help you to get started quickly and they leave a lot of questions unanswered. This book will answer those questions and get you started quickly with creating a LibreOffice Base client and postgreSQL server.

LibreOffice Base is used as a front end gui for the postgreSQL server.

This is a how to book that will show you how to create a simple database application quickly. I use postgreSQL because it is
one of the most powerful relational database management systems available today and because it is free open source software. LibreOffice Base is also FOSS and it provides an excellent user interface for postgreSQL. This book assumes that the reader is using Ubuntu Unity, but postgreSQL and LibreOffice Base should work with other Linux distributions. This is a learn by example book that will show you how to create database applications quickly.
