While on vacation, Private Detective Genevieve Delacourt finds memory prodigy India Adams unconscious in a San Diego-area street. As she investigates, Gen questions what a huge dog, a woman who journals every detail of her life, and a homeless boy with acute hearing have to do with the attack. Can she and fiancé Mack Hackett uncover the link before the assailant succeeds?
Hello readers! I am the author of the Gen Delacourt Mystery Series, which includes Mark of the Loon, The Last Fairytale, Paint Me Gone, A Thousand Tombs, Swindle Town, Lock the Cellar Door, Midnight at Half Moon Bay, and The India Archives.
Another very entertaining Gen Delacourt mystery from Molly Greene. I always enjoy each new book in this series because Molly's mysteries always feature a full bodied description of an interesting local and unique distinctive plot elements that make them unlike any other. In this one the diversity and beauty of the San Diego California area is fully described and the plot is centered on the description and impact of two rare medical conditions. Throughout the story Molly and Mack's interactions with the other featured characters are clever, skillful and intelligent. Their logical, systematic and rational investigative approach makes it inevitable they solve the complex mystery.
I received a prepublication copy of this book from the author in her anticipation that I would post a fair review. I recommend "The India Archives" I'm sure you will also enjoy it very much.
I absolutely love the Gen Delacourt mystery series. Molly Greene does a great job of portraying a strong, yet still feminine and sensitive, female protagonist. Delacourt is what I want to be when I grow up. Unfortunately, I'm a few years older than she is already.
Set in the almost idyllic San Diego area, this Delacourt mystery surrounds a woman with a fantastic memory that only started when she forgot to tell her grandmother about something that happened with her mother, who was ill, and then her mother died. It also involves a homeless boy/man who has misophonia - a disorder dealing with hearing that a friend of mine also has.
You should definitely pick up this book and give it a read. It kept me on the edge of my seat as read through it.
I received a copy of the book from the author. My review is 100% my own and given freely.
So good. This one was just a tiny bit predictable but that didn't take away from the great story, great characters and great pacing. But now that I've caught up and read all of these, I'm sad I have to wait awhile for the next book to come out.
