Man könnte ihn ja schon vom Englischen ableiten...

A bit disappointing...

I really enjoyed this book, I laughed out loud so many times. Our heroine's character, Lena, is a riot. Having gone through major heartbreak, she's become tough and cynical. Having resisted Desiderio's romantic overture for so long, Lena finally gave in to her attraction. And so began their romantic interlude, unfortunately, that was also the beginning of Lena's change of attitude. She's become an annoying "clingy, can't live without you" propensity that got so absurd. Despite that, her sense of humor is outstanding. And our hero, Desiderio, oh what a man! Handsome as sin, sexy, has a great sense of right and wrong, an accomplished physician and when he loves, he loved fierce.

This would easily have been a 5 star for me, except, the ending felt rushed and left unfinished.. I wonder why would the author give the sub characters an HEA and not the main ones? After a major almost catastrophic event that could have altered their lives, we find Lena sitting next to Desiderio's hospital bed, crying her heart out, asking for forgiveness, the next scene was the two of them attending Vera's wedding. Having them attending a wedding of Vera, Lena's bestie,(that is slated to happen more than a year later) as the ending to their tempestuous relationship is disappointing to me. Even when you hear Lena's musings about her life wouldn't be the same without Desiderio in it, it wasn't enough. I can't help thinking what happened in-between that turning point scene and her best friend's wedding? Because of that, it knocked off some stars....unless, of course, the author plan on having second book.

Review in a nutshell
I rarely read romance books nowadays but I'll make an exemption for this book. Arrhythmia is the kind of read you'd want to pick up during this quarantine period. Fun and heart-warming, the characters and their relationships will make your heart skip a few beats.

I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. Thank you!

I love reading books translated in English from other languages and this book was definitely one I really liked.

Lena reminds me of me; she loves to sleep, drink coffee, and read books. She is very cautious with her love life and does not immediately fall for Desiderio. I loved her character. She seemed very real to me and very relatable as well.

Desiderio on the other hand was sort of lacking. First of all, his name. Ehhhh. I don't really like him, but what I can I do but read on.

The plot was great until the stupid part about Lena seeing Desiderio's cousin in his house and seeing them having dinner and completely over-reacting. Seriously, that was way over blown. Also, the ending seems like a cliffhanger...its been a year. What is going on? Perhaps, there will be a sequel?

Anyways, if you can get yourself a translated English copy of this book and you love romance, read this book! If you can read German and you love romance, also get this book! Its cheesy and fun and it makes your heart do all kinds of flippy things in your chest.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review on NetGalley.
I. Absolutely. Loved. Arrhythmia! It went near and dear to my heart, considering the fact I love soul mate stories and books with plots in the medical field. Combine the two, and I'm in love with a book! From the very beginning sentence of the story, I loved this book. When a book starts off like this one did, I know it's going to be a great story. I like how the main character plays extremely hard to get and then just lets the act fizzle off over time. She fell for him so hard. Who is him, one might ask? Read and find out. :)
Overall, I enjoyed this book so much.
I would recommend this book to anyone in need of a good love story!
I hope you enjoy Arrhythmia by Johanna Danninger!

This book was provided to me free. If Nurse Lena has learned one thing from her past, it’s that handsome, charismatic men just cannot be trusted.
So when she meets the exceedingly attractive resident Dr. Desiderio DiCastello—who, it seems, is willing to use every trick in the book to seduce her—Lena assumes he’s no different from the rest. But despite her efforts to stay away from him, he is always there trying to pick her up or compliment her. She almost waits too long to recognize his worth.
I found Lena a bit immature and quick to judge others. Desiderio really had to care to put up with her. It was an interesting story and I would recommend it.
