TLDR: A beautiful story, nice storytelling, you learn new things that make you wish to help and adopt a galgo. You will cry, you will laugh and when you finish the book, you will be satisfied.
This is one of the most wonderful books I have read in a long time. It's that kind of a book that stays with you in ways you never thought possible.
It's an emotional rollercoaster, but not a difficult or a hard story. It is easy to follow and the writing style is not too complicated, as the story is narrated from a 13-year-old teenager's perspective. I read a Slovenian translation which has been done well, but sometimes some sentences don't make sense and I don't know whether it's a translation or also the original. Doesn't really affect the story as on overall I think the translation has been done more than well.
In any case, I recommend this book to every one. At least to those people who have a soft spot for animals and want to learn more about the horrible treatment of the Spanish galgos that STILL persists in 2021 and is not a story from the old times. I started reading this book knowing full well about the galgo situation in Spain, having a lovely rescued galgo at home, where he can be the king of our lives and our couch, but this book still gave me a new perspective.

Un superbe roman, d'utilité publique, sur les traitements réservés aux chiens de chasse en Espagne. La plume est juste et sait toucher le lecteur (en tout cas, ça a bien fonctionné sur moi : j'ai pleuré à plusieurs reprises).
