From the author of the Crimson Queen comes a new tale of adventure and sorcery...
After a few years spent exploring the shadowy underworld of the Silken Cities, partners Vessa and Del Amoth have returned to the rich and exotic port of Malakesh. But all is not as it seems in the City of Broken Spires, and the rogues quickly find that they have become pieces in a game they cannot comprehend...
“Twilight's End” is a short, traditional Sword and Sorcery tale which combines elements of Fritz Leiber and Terry Pratchett to deliver a very readable adventure. Warrior Vessa and sorcerer Del Amoth have returned to the port city of Malakesh. They're broke and accept a job which carries a certain risk (in fact it turns out to be close to suicidal). Either they solve the problem they create or the possibility of a sequel becomes zero. Good fun. 3 Stars.
An interesting fantasy story. It will immerse you in the world of magic artifacts, clans and orders and thieves. I wouldn't call it my favorite, but it is a good book if you don't know what to read and looking for a short story.
Quick and entertaining short story. The story plays out something like the begining of an RPG campaign. Heroes are recruited for a task, task turns out not to be as expected, heroes must now iron out the wrinkles. Being predictable isn't exactly a problem though, since the story seems to accomplish what it sets out to do. Primarily in that I now want to read more about Vessa and Del (eventually, since I want to see what comes after the Crimson Queen first).
