KIKI SWINSON

Karlie Houston is broke, betrayed—and running from a bounty on her head. Turns out the real owners of the payday loan office she ripped off weren’t cool with her idea of employment bennies. With her lover and friends gone, she’s forced to take refuge with her cold-hearted grandmother. But with enemies closing in, Karlie’s last chance to flip a killer script is ticking down to slim, none—and dead.

WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

SAUNDRA

Struggling bank teller Porsha has no time for Cinderella fantasies. She’s working overtime to keep her tragedy-struck family off the streets. But her new boyfriend, Game, is smart, seductive—and sure-thing successful. So why not work his rock-solid plan to steal from her bank? All she’s got to lose is more than she can possibly imagine.

“Treachery, betrayal and revenge add to the twists and turns and lots of drama in this book. Loved it! Can’t wait until the sequel comes out.” —RT Book Reviews on The Score

“Saundra offers insight into the ruthless drug game but also offers hope and redemption. Fans of Sister Souljah’s groundbreaking The Coldest Winter Ever will immediately note similarities to that powerful novel in Saundra’s writing.” —Library Journal on Her Sweetest Revenge

WHO CAN YOU TRUST
This was a test of friendship Porsha should have known that something wasn't right with Sasha when she showed up after all these years but Briana wasn't falling for it. Then to found out the people you love and be around are not who they say they are from Sasha sleeping with the man you love having your brother killed and a child (Rein) by your brother and that Keisha wasn't Game's sister but his wife and it all was a setup for you to rob the bank that you work for and take the fall. But everything don't always go as planned. In the end Posha and Briana came out on top sometimes the grave you dig may be your own.

This title includes two short stories; one by Kiki Swinson and the other by Saundra. Both have a similar theme running through them of being double crossed and both have surprise endings.

In "Stay Scheming" by Swinson, the main character is Karlie Houston who got mixed up with the wrong people after assisting in a heist on her job, a payday loan shop. She runs to her grandmother's house which comes with its own host of problems. The thing I liked most about this story is it started out fast-paced and continued that way throughout. Even though the writing was rather elementary there was a bit of suspense.

In "Who Can You Trust?" by Saundra, the main character is Porscha. She shops and parties a lot and that's the main gist of the story until the surprise at the end. For most of the story I was just waiting on something to happen and grew impatient. There were many spelling and grammatical errors in this story as well as poor writing in general. The ending was slightly interesting and a surprise but the dialogue was cheesy like a soap opera.

*I received this title from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

This book consists of 2 stories. The first one " Stay Scheming" has the correct title. This story is about 2 sisters that work in a check cashing establishment and decide to rob it along with one sister's boyfriend and some of his friends. The book opens with the sister's being tortured and takes off from there. There is murder, and other people that come up missing that participated in the robbery. The main character survives an ambush that kills her sister and boyfriend. She is working with a cop to keep safe. Here we meet 2 family members that are very strong additions to the story. The story is fast paced and hold your attention. The last chaper of this book is named" The Real Devil in Sheep's Clothing" and the author could not have picked a better title. Wonderful story. The second story "Who Can you Trust" was just an ok read. This story is bascially a jealous fueled story with characters sending out to come out on top. There is much going on but at times the story lags,. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

I enjoyed the fact that this was 2 stories in one! The was the 2nd book of the Schemes series from Kiki Swinson. Karlie ends up losing her sister and man but gets herself in trouble seeking revenge. Hopefully there is a 3rd book! The 2nd story by SAUNDRA was good. An old friend comes back to seek revenge but it costs her her life. Enjoyed the story and hope there is another book from it too.
