An interesting kids book about 4 animals who are all thirsty on this wild hot day. They all are thinking they are going to beat one another to the water so they can drink it all for themselves. But they end up all getting there at the same time and start to argue about who should drink the water until the mouse, smells a fire happening and the only one who can put it out is elephant. So the lion started telling everybody what to do and how they were going to put the fire out. The elephant comes and takes out the fire and they are all happy. But then they have no water to drink because the elephant used it all to put out the fire and they start back arguing. The end is the best so you can read it for yourself.

I like this book because shows the children how they are better working as a team than doing it on your own. The animals come together as one even though they are different animals.

I will teach my students to help one another out, if help is needed. Have them do group work that can’t be done by just one person.
