Once it came out, this was *THE* reference for magic users in the game. It compiled all of the spells previously published in other books in one volume that was easy to search through and use. Extremely useful.
I never have a spell caster divine or arcane without using this book as much as the player's handbook. (some things are overpowered proceed with caution)
They changed the names of some of the classic spells. Some are just kind of strange too. Other than that, it's a good compilation with great art and production values.
Despite removing the uniqueness of certain classic spells, this book is excellent and invaluable to any spellcaster and may be the more useful and versatile then even the Magic Item Compendium.
