About the author

Anika Willmanns

Anika is a Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy author from Germany. Her first book, Light and Shadows, was published in 2017. She has since written numerous novels in the same universe, the Nightcursed Chronicles.

After spending her childhood with her loving grandparents in South Africa, she moved to Germany at age eleven to be a big sister to her newly born little sister. Growing up she was fortunate to be surrounded by books and TV shows that ignited her love for all things supernatural. Among her favorites was Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (five-year old Anika was extremely disappointed when the beast turned back into a prince and still hasn’t gotten over it), and an old, now obscure show called Dracula – The Series (1990) staring actress Mia Kirshner.

Currently residing near Bremen with her favorite person, aka her husband Chris, and a very loud, very obnoxious cat named Mandy, she’s juggling her many projects and trying to decide what to work on next.

The book dives right into the action but not without laying some important groundwork for the plot, allowing the reader to not be wondering what's going on. Anika does a remarkable job of letting us know the main plot before taking us through a few twists and revelations which help strengthen it and the characters.

The MC gets some serious development, as we get a feel for her story as well as discovering aspects of it she didn't know alongside her. The growth she experiences is fun to watch, and how it plays into the final conflict is great.

There's an undercurrent throughout the book on the importance of family, trust, and loyalties. Themes that Anika does a masterful job at presenting while still providing an enjoyable story. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the series plays out based on how much has already happened.

Loved this book! The characters were engaging and believable, there were enough twists and turns to keep me turning page after page, and the world Ms. Willmanns has created is original and captivating! And talk about an ending with wow factor! I can't wait for book two! Utterly engaging! I hope you write quickly, Ms. Willmanns!
