Bon, par où commencer....
Je savais que je n'aurais pas affaire à un chef d'oeuvre, les livres écrits d'après les films sont rarement des pépites, MAIS LÀ!

-Une traduction médiocre
Annick Baudoin, la traductrice, devait être saoule au moment de la relecture car elle à laisser passer des choses absurdes, je cite, p°191: " -Mais qu'est ce que vous avez fait? tu avez perdu la tête? Tu avez faillit le noyer!" Un travail d'orfèvre.
Bref, j'ai trouvé ce livre dans une boîte à livre, et l'idée d'un livre basé sur un navet des années 80 m'a fais rire, mais là je ne ris plus du tout, l'histoire n'a rien de fou, le texte est mal écrit, plat et pas du tout immersif et la traduction est nulle, bourrée de faute élémentaires et pleine de coquilles, j'ai vraiment passé un mauvais moment.

I actually don't mind the idea of movie based books. Only if someone showed a little effort in writing it. This one is as average as all the others. Descriptive parts lack clarity or are lacking at all. The Czech translation also does not impress. At least the book is short and fast paced. I will get rid of this one.

Leggere il libro o guardare il film più o meno la stessa cosa, non c'è nulla di differente, anche se forse alcuni dettagli trash nel film sfuggono o appaiono meno chiari, da passare tutto sommato per buoni e accettabili. Ne avevamo veramente bisogno? La risposta è ovviamente NO.
Bastava e avanzava sicuramente il film. Tuttavia, io non potevo fare a meno di leggerlo quando me le sono trovato davanti in bookcrossing.
Dovevo assolutamente leggere il romanzo del mio film dell' infanzia/ adolescenza.
È uno di quei film romantici stupidi, pieno zeppo di cliché, però è quel genere di storia che da ragazzina ti fa sognare e poi io amavo da morire Kevin Kostner. Rimango comunque sempre affezionata a questa storia, anche se ne riconosco inevitabilmente tante pecche e alti livelli di trash che sicuramente da ragazzina ignoravo o comunque nel film appariva forse più sfumato ed edulcorato.
Per esempio, perché alla fine è un' altra guardia del corpo ad attentare alla vita di Rachel? Movente? Soldi? Competizione e rivalsa verso Frank Farmer? Boh, tutto questo resta un bel mistero.
Tante cose appaiono poco sensate e chiare, ho capito volersi focalizzare sulla storia d'amore, ma un minimo di senso e spiegazione logica agli eventi a quello che accade non si vuole dare? Ma comunque, a noi appassionate del cult romantico anni 90' "la guardia del corpo" piace così, in tutte le sue sfaccettature no sense e trash.
Certo, senza sentire gli acuti sorprendenti di Whitney Houston a riempire i profondi buchi di trama si perde tanto delle emozioni del film, e hai tempo di riflettere, anche troppo, sulla ciofecata su cui ti sei appena addentrata. No, era meglio continuare a ignorare alcuni aspetti incongruenti e no sense del film, non è stata una gran bella idea voler trasporre una storia che era riuscita a diventare un cult grazie a Withney Houston che era persino riuscita a camuffare tutti i suoi difetti e pecche, e a lasciartelo godere senza farti troppe domande; o quanto meno venivi distratta dalla voce incredibile di lei e da un giovane avvenente Kevin Kostner.
Mentre nel libro chi è che ti distrae? Il traduttore che ti strappa una risata perché lo ha persino editato male, con moltissimi errori ortografici di battitura, rendendo evidente che neanche lui aveva voglia di portare avanti questo lavoro, ritenendolo lui stesso un vero e proprio flop.
Massima comprensione e supporto al traduttore che lavorava dietro le quinte di questo pseudo- romanzo, dopo tanti studi, sacrifici e fatica per lavorare in una casa editrice , e poi ti ritrovi a dover tradurre "la guardia del corpo". No, vabbè sto male.

Frank Farmer is a professional bodyguard and a former Secret Service agent. He is a closed man and the best in his line of work.
Racheal Marron is a famous singer and actor. She is supposedly the winner of next Academy award.
When Racheal receives life threatening letter and a bomb goes off in her green room as she sings on stage, her manager brings a reluctant Frank on to the job.
Racheal's arrogance infuriates Frank just as much his indifference to her stardom infuriates Racheal.
While Racheal struggles to deal with the changes Frank makes to her life, she also cannot ignore the safety he provides. Neither is Frank immune to her as he pretends to be.
Protecting Racheal among her thousand fans is more challenging than Frank ever plans, specially when Racheal is changing the very core of his life.
Based on the movie of the same name. The climax is made more memorable through the film's famous track " I will always love you" by Whitney Houston.
For some light reading this book is definitely recommendable. I loved the fact that the storyline is not predictable, nor is the climax. It isn't the usual Hollywood cliche romance 😋

Even though I enjoyed the musical, this book was not really enjoyable. It was rather boring and took me a while to finish.
