Infamous Nick Blackthorn is looking forward to some downtime as he goes incognito at the sinfully exotic Bandicoot Cove Resort. He’s no stranger to the hedonistic lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but he’s a little surprised to be instantly drawn to a couple so sexy all he can think about is the three of them…together.
McKenzie Wood needs her BFF to pose as her partner at an island resort as part of her cover while she’s chasing a hot story. Luckily, pulse-poundingly gorgeous firefighter Aiden Rogers is always up to any challenge.
No one would believe Aiden can face down any fire but can’t tell his best friend he’s in love with her and would like to do some seriously sinful things to her. When she asks him to go away with her, it seems like the perfect opportunity to change the status quo.
The island heat burns away inhibitions, but this threesome is rocked when secrets come out and hearts and truths are exposed.
Each book in the Bandicoot Cove series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order. Series Order: Book #1 Tropical Sin Book #2 Paradise Found Book #3 Island Idyll Book #4 Sunlit Surrender Book #5 Sunset Heat Book #6 Moonlight Mirage
Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.
When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.
Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.
And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!
Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.
Tropical Sin is book three in the Bandicoot Cove series by Lexxie Couper. Oh…My…Gosh. This book! I am in love with it. It is melt your face off hot. But that’s not all. I loved the characters, the setting, just everything.
Bandicoot Cove is preparing for their grand opening by inviting select guests for a soft opening. McKenzie (Mack) Wood and her best friend, Aidan Rogers are two of the lucky guests to be invited.
Mack is a journalist for a tabloid magazine. When she sees the biggest rock star of Australia, Nick Blackthorne, at the resort, she can’t believe her luck. There are all sorts of rumors surrounding him lately and she is going to get an exclusive. This is just what her career needs. Who better to help her out than her plus one and her best friend since they were kids, Aidan.
Aidan is a firefighter. He has probably loved Mack from the day he met her. But he never told her how he felt. He couldn’t chance losing her. But he recently nearly died while fighting a fire and it made him realize that he had to tell Mack how he felt. That he wanted more, so much more, than to be friends. On this beautiful tropical island, it would be the perfect setting to reveal everything, to show her everything.
Nick Blackthorne has lost his music. The words just won’t come anymore. Then he heard her laugh. He turned around and saw them together, saw the way they looked at each other, even if they didn’t realize it themselves, he saw it, love. And he heard the music again.
“How could two people he’d never met until today stir something so firmly believed dead? And what was he going to do about it?”
When Mack looked at Aidan in this beautiful tropical setting, for the first time, she felt something more, something unexpected, something so foreign. Did he feel it too? But he’d been her best friend forever!
“This isn’t just anyone. This is Aidan. The guy’s had your heart in his pocket since you were kids. Even if you didn’t know it.”
Nick needed Aidan and Mack. He knew it as much as he needed to breathe. He had the song inside of him, just not all of it. He needed them so he could hear the rest of the song.
When these three came together, I swear it set my e-reader on fire. It was hot, it was sweet, and it was beautiful. But what happens when it’s time to leave? Is it only magical because the three of them are together? When they go home, how will it be between Aidan and Mack? Will the magic of the tropical island follow them home?
“I’ve got you babe.” McKenzie’s heart fluttered. Yes he did. On so many levels.
I loved this one. I might be in love with the author, Lexxie Couper. So turn down the A/C, ladies, and read this one. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Adult review for the fact that explicit and eyebrow-raising phrases will be most likely be popping up in here.
My. Oh my. Why? Sigh. No, I'm not rhyming on purpose.
I'm not sure how it's even possible that I didn't really like Tropical Sin. How could I have liked Nick in Love's Rhythm but not ended up liking him in this story? I don't get it.
Slight spoilers ahead.
Oh wait. Yes, I do get it. Here's why : he was a third wheel who didn't belong in the picture. That's right : a rock star god was the third wheel in a story that should have been a coupling. You can't put two people together who are JUST figuring out that they are in love with each other and make their first time having sex shift immediately into a threesome and still expect me to have that "awww, look they found true love feeling." What...the...hell?
Before I get the "it's erotica" lecture, let me lay it out...I have enjoyed reading menage in the past. I have nothing against a spicy menage story - it doesn't matter if the situation involves people who are playing casually, or if it's with a couple looking to bring in another party. However, this story just made the menage situation awkward.
Why would Aidan hand over the reigns immediately after FINALLY getting the girl he had been pining away for? Nothing about this story felt heartwarming or fulfilling. Nick came across as some sort of creeper perv who was wanting to share in someone else's moment of completion. I adored Nick in his own story with his own HEA. In this prequel, I couldn't stand him and wanted to kick him out of the bedroom.
Menage can be sexy in the right circumstance. Voyeurism/exhibitionism can be sexy in the right circumstance. Trying to insert a person into a story who doesn't belong there at that point in time is not sexy.
It didn't help that the terminology was off the charts ridiculous. I've read some wonderful erotica lately which hasn't had to resort to lingo such as :
...with his tackle - still semi-hard and probably glistening with McKenzie's juices - on show
...the scent of your pleasure streaming into my body with each breath I take...
...the need to taste those pearls of Aidan's pleasure...
...its tip was anointed with tiny beads of pleasure...
...he slid the glass dildo into her sodden channel...
I hate when I read an erotic book that's been published recently which makes me feel like I'm reading something from 10, 20, 30 plus years ago. I spotted an always sure to make me feel disgusted phrase, "warm cream gushed from her pussy." It even coated his hand, haha. This woman must be a fire hydrant. Every time I see gushing cream, it just turns my stomach because it makes me think of an oozing infection, not the actual and natural process of a woman's body showing arousal.
So, yeah. Not a fan of this story. I'm going to say that I've easily read a ton of erotic shorts and in many cases, I'm all for people jumping into sexy situations and having fun doing whatever crazy stuff they want to do. But I can't be sold on the friends becoming lovers aspect when the entire story is interrupted by a random person inserted RIGHT into the middle of when two people should be having time to explore their feelings for one another.
If you do like sweet erotic romance and happen to have a thing for hot rock stars, you might enjoy Nick's solo story Love's Rhythm by the same author. That one I did truly like.
4.5 Stars. Wow! I don't know how this author does it, but she can take a situation that I might find somewhat unpalatable, and manage to turn it into something sweet and loving. The main story here is about two life-long friends finally realising their true love for each other. It was truly touching. The secondary story, although , very strong throughout the book, is about a world-famous rock star who has lost his 'soul' can't write his music and is basically in despair. The love between the first couple assists him to find his soul and music again. It's well written and enjoyable. A fabulous story!
Quick read about two best friends who discover their real feelings/ love for each other with a little help from rockstar Nick Blackthorne. Good friends to lovers story e
Yet another Lexxie Couper story that I just loved, which came as no surprise to me at all. Not only was this one sizzling hot read, but it also brought out all kinds of emotions. I was laughing, crying, and grinning ear to ear as I fell in love with these three characters. I absolutely loved all these stories in the Bandicoot Cove series, but I really enjoyed this friends to lovers story and I highly recommend it.
The last time Entangled released a series of standalones like this by different authors, it was the Wedding Dare series and I discovered several new favorite authors. When I saw the Scorched line was releasing (or I guess re-releasing) a series of hot, beachy novellas this summer, I jumped on the opportunity to read and review them. Who knows what I might discover this time around since I've actually not read any of the authors previously. I did realize after looking at Goodreads that these books had previously been released prior to Entangled picking them up, but they were all new to me, so I went for it anyhow.
Following Entangled's reading order, I started at the beginning (a very good place to start, I hear) with Tropical Sin. It was a good, solid, quick read. It was hot and dirty, but I got a couple feels towards the end, too. The only thing I didn't quite get was why it took a third party to make McKenzie and Aiden finally admit their feelings for each other went beyond friendship. It seemed pretty obvious to me that these two were pretty perfectly suited for each other and, while I'm all for menage, it seemed a little disjointed to me. Don't get me wrong, it was hot. Nick was an interesting addition to the storyline, but I'm not sure he was a necessary one. I'd have been just as happy to read about McKenzie and Aiden embracing their feelings, getting it on and moving forward as I was reading about (what I felt like) was an unnecessary third party.
All that said, Tropical Sin was a good, sexy read. Since it's a novella, it only took me a couple hours reading time to finish and it was time fairly well spent. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the other characters in the Bandicoot Cove series.
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
FAVORITE QUOTES
"He's been looking out for your heart since the day he met you, holding it in those massive bloody hands of his and making sure no one hurts it. He would do anything for you, you know that, right?"
"A face of an angel with filth on her mind. I pray to burn in her fire, I pray to die in her arms."
When love is right in front of you and you don’t realize until someone else sees it for you and points out the obvious. When best friends firefighter Adian and journalist McKenzie come to a soft opening of a tropical resort which one of their friends manage, they find much more than they had bargained for. McKenzie sees someone else who is at this opening and it is none other than famous rock star Nick Blackthorne. McKenzie is surprised to see him here because last she heard he was away at some rehab for sex addiction. What she wouldn’t give for an interview with him for her trash magazine she currently works for?! Tropical Sin couldn’t be a better title for this book because it gives you a scorching hot, naughty read along with a HEA.
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
I'd say 3.5. It wasn't awful but I'd never recommend this to anyone.
It wasn't my favorite sexy, smutty tale. I was very confused when the FMC was being called Mac, her name is McKenzie and Mac is just too masculine for me. It's already a 3 way and I kept wondering where the FMC was and kept forgetting, oh she's Mac! It just took the sexy away so much and I had to keep rewinding to remember where this other man came from.
The ending surprised me! Spoiler, spoiler, not that it matters in a tale like this lol. It's all sexiness. But for once, the 3 did not end up together. The 3rd was the catalyst to the besties getting together. I've NEVER seen the 3 not end up together. It helped them all in the end.
For that surprise alone, I will give the next book another chance since these types of books never surprise me. Hopefully the women have feminine nicknames otherwise I'm DNF.
Once again I have fallen in LOVE! Another story by Lexxie Couper that I did not want to end.
McKenzie, a writer for a tabloid and Aidan, a firefighter (HOT), have been BFFs since high school. They have been invited to the soft opening of the resort Mack's friend is running. Aidan has been in love with Mack for a very long time, but has done nothing about it. He is her best friend and her rock.
While at the resort Mack notices that none other than Nick Blackthrone, the worlds most famous rock star, is at the resort as well. Nick is suppose to be fresh out of sex rehab and Mack wants to get the real story.
Nick is lost. Things have happened in life that has made the "music" in this rock star die. Nick encounters Mack and Aidan and he can not stop thinking about the couple. When he begins to "hear" the music again by thinking about the couple he knows that they may be the key to bringing him back to "life".
I fell in LOVE with Mack, Aidan and Nick. I love a friends to lovers story and then you throw in a SUPER HOT rock star, what more could you want. When Nick does give Mack her story, it is not the story she thought she would get and I fell more in love with Nick (Nick's story will continue in Lexxie's next release Loves Rythem).
This was another Lexxie story that made me laugh and cry and of course true to one of the reasons I LOVE Lexxie, the sex is HOT HOT! This book is part of the Bandicoot Cove series, but you do not need to read the other books to enjoy this story. This is another great story by Lexxie about realizing your best friend is THE ONE and being a witness to finding true love can change your life.
Mackenzie (Mack) Wood (Mason’s—Paradise Found—sister and BFF of Kylie) is a tabloid reporter. Her best best friend is Aidan, who has been in love with her forever but has never found the courage to say so. Mack spots Aussie singing sensation Nick Blackthorne at the resort and wants an exclusive with him for her paper and, because there are rumours that Nick is bisexual, puts Aidan up to hitting on Nick to see where the story goes. I liked Aidan and Mack’s interaction quite a bit. It was clear that they had deep feelings for each other and I felt their trip to HEA was believable and I do enjoy a friends-to-lovers story. Where I came a bit unstuck was when Nick joined the picture. I found their easy acceptance of Nick into their newly found sexual relationship a bit unbelievable and the information about Nick’s backstory felt a bit out of place and heavy for this type of story. The interlude with Nick is just that and I was happy that Aidan and Mack would head off into the sunset together.
A common problem in romance fiction is that the main drama/conflict/problem/plot actually doesn't feature IN the book, but much earlier.
In other words, the authors are writing the wrong stories. Their ideas for the right stories are evident, yet these gems don't get the spotlight, instead hidden away within the space of a few pages of a way less interesting tale.
Reading Chapter Eight, hopefully you, too, will prefer a story featuring Derek Schulze than anyone else. His may not have a happy ending, but it's bloody fascinating and emotional.
But since Derek doesn't get a proper novella – he gets just those few pages, and they were more about Nick – dedicated to him, this serious note in Tropical Sin kind of feels chucked in.

Friends to lovers is always a favorite of mine. Add in a hunky firefighter AND a rockstar? *SWOON* How can I resist. Not to mention that it's Lexxie Couper. SOLD!
And man, this didn't disappoint.
I do have to admit that as delicious as Aidan was...I'm utterly smitten with Nick and was HAPPY to hear that he's getting his book soon.
Not a lot to say about this book. It wasn't long enough for me to fall for the characters, and with more time I am sure I would have. I read this as I wanted to read Love's Rhythm, which is Nick's book, who appears in this one. I don't regret reading this, as it was quick and steamy, but short reads like this always leave me wanting more.
I am coming back to write this review after many years have passed since its initial reading. Its a good book...funny, sweet, sexy, but for me, its the introduction of character, Nick Blackthorne, that assumed prominence. The glimpses of his soul and challenges- in addition to his obvious hotness-prompted me to continue learning more about his life and the people who populate it...and its been an adventure. One in which Ive come to love the Blackthornes, mostly through the Heart of Fame series- and marvel at how Nick grew into the man he now is. Very sexy, diverse characters, settings, humor, adversity...its got it all. This story, Tropical Sin, opened the door to countless hours of future enjoyment. Read it...then get all of the Heart of Fame series, plus the spinoffs, of which there are a few.
This was a hot and entertaining friends to lovers story with a hot rockstar thrown in for a little while as well. Mac and Aiden are at the soft opening of their friends resort and they run into Nick. Aiden has been in love with Mac for years but has never made a move or it known but he wants to and with a recent scare on the job, firefighter. Nick enters the picture and it does force things a little bit as Nick can see that Aiden wants her as well and it allows for the push as they have a threesome and allows for all the feelings to come out and Mac to realize that she loves Aiden as well. This story was hot and enjoyable. It is a shorter read so things definitely get hot quickly and do move along on the faster side. It was well done though and enjoyable.
This is a romance between Aiden and Mackenzie. That kicks from friends to lovers because of a threesome with Nick. Poor, poor Nick. He is so wanting love, but isn’t going to make much inroads with these 2. The writing is a bit amateurish. The POVs jump all over the place. And sometimes it’s too easy to get lost because the descriptions lack and you don’t know what exactly is going on. There are nice elements in this though. So can’t be too harsh. Nice light read. And I like to see Australian-based stories. The audiobook reading was THE WORST I have ever heard. The single reader tried to give everyone an Australian accent and it all came out sound South African!! So, so bad. Would have been better not even trying.
It was a steamy novella but as far as a extreme connection between the main characters it was hard to grasp. I love the whole best friends to lovers storyline but having a third player made the actual connection difficult. Over all it was a quick, steamy, and interesting read. If you don't mind some threesome evolving into true love between two characters then this novel will be okay for you. It was a 3 stars in my opinion.
(ARC provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing in exchanged for an honest review)
It was mostly sex but also you saw Nick hurting. Sadly he will stop performing. Sorry for this but you will have to read the story where this comes about. I do find it hard to believe he loves someone else when he thinks about this girl the way he does. I don't think it would be wise to go to their wedding as he plans in his other story. She will know he had sex with her. It will show. I think I like a guy who stops at nothing to keep the girl. Aiden does that in this story.
Tropical Sin is the story of Mack and Aidan. two best friends since they were younger now are on a vacation of a life time. While on vacation Aidan has come to the realization he needs to tell Mack how he really feels. Mack being a gossip mag journalist knows there is a story when she spots Nick Blackthorne at the resort. It's quite the adventure these three will go on. Filled with revelations, love, and heart breaking pasts.
A steamy romantic novella. McKenzie and Aidan might be best friends but that soon changes when Nick Blackthorne comes into the picture. Their encounter is so scorching hot that you have no doubt they belong with each other. I enjoyed reading this book and was happy to read that Nick was finally able to finish his song. A short awesome read' can't wait to read more from Lexxie Couper.
I was given this ARC by NetGalley as an exchange for an honest review.
Aidan and McKenzie have been best friends forever and Aidan has always loved her. After going away on a romantic trip meant for lovers, he finally decides to tell her how she feels. When sexy rockstar Nick Blackthorne comes into the picture, what will this mean for the new couple? This is a hot, sexy read with a lot of heat on the pages. It was a good story for a novella. It kept me hot and bothered while telling a sweet friends to lovers story. It was a good read.
Thanks to netgalley.com for the ARC of this book. This book is so wild and crazy. It was a shocker when they opened the door and Nick was standing there asking them to join in with them. What?? That was so unexpected and crazy. It was a quick and easy read, perfect for some summer time fun reading by the pool!
A man grateful to be alive, a woman in love with her best friend and a rock star searching to find peace. Together they will discover love in this hot M/F, M/M/F story! Spice up your summer reading with a tropical adventure!
