Still Alive #3

Zombies On A Plane

Rate this book
For Mo Collins surviving the zombie apocalypse isn’t getting any easier. Defeating blunatics, saving survivors, recovering treasure and securing Guntersville Island has been taking up Mo’s time when he would rather just make time with his girl. But he can’t avoid his scripted destiny; his personal Oracle, Smokes, won’t let him. He can still bitch about it, though.
The crew of the replica pirate ship, the Viva Ancora, is growing, and the cast of characters are fulfilling their roles towards destiny. Having found his parents and assured their safety on the Island there is still someone else missing; His brother, Easy.
So Mo, Smokes the pilot (Oh Dear God!) and The Expert are off to find Easy. His last known location? Birmingham, AL. Yea, it total makes sense to fly off to Alabama’s largest city which is assuredly overflowing with the naked, blue, undead cannibals. But The Hero’s gotta do what The Hero’s gotta do.
Follow Mo and his crew as they try and skew fate, risk life and limb, again, and as they explore more of their new world and go in search of Mo’s lost brother. Easy.
All aboard Flight Z as we fly to parts unknown. In a world where the Zombies bite… and sometimes life bites.
Fasten your seat belt friend;
Welcome to Zombies On A Plane!

The writer's style is original. I've never read a book like this before. I started with book 3 in the series and maybe that made it difficult for me to connect all the dots.

I loved the humor and the caricature-like characters. There's lots of action and a unique strand of the living dead.

This installment of Javan’s Zompoc takes us on a rescue mission. Is it still a rescue mission if the person doesn’t know they are being rescued? As the story continues, our characters are learning more about those pesky poopin’ Peevies. I am excited to see what else we will learn about them. Javan keep up the great work and Salzman (narrator) keep doing what you do best!

This was another great, action packed, zombie filled, adventure with Mo Collins and his cast of highly entertaining characters. There were also a few twists to the story, I didn't see coming. The Still Alive series is definitely one of my favorites and one I highly recommend.

The Still Alive series is a truly hilarious apocalyptic tale that gets better with each book. I'm very happy to see that this isn't the end of the series yet! S. W. Salzman does a great job with the narration, which makes the story even funnier. In this book, Mo is off to Birmingham to find his brother! The oracle, Smokes, will fly Mo and a few other there to look for him. Apparently Smokes is a pilot too. Smokes seems to know everything that is going to happen throughout this whole series because of his zombie movie knowledge. One thing the bugged me though in that book was the fact that Mo said the true antagonist we're the zombies. I have to completely disagree. Humans are far worse. Zombies are like deadly animals acting on killer instinct. Humans can be deceptive and far more deadly. Maybe that won't be the case as the series continues, but it usually is.

The ridiculous fun continues! I think this series really indulges my immature side, in a totally good way. It’s hard to not make fun of blue nudist cannibals, as Mo can attest to. The weenie jokes are everywhere in this book and I did snort-giggle a time or two. Book 2 left us with a little cliffhanger as Mo, Hammer, and Smokes got on a small plane to go see if Mo’s college-attending brother survived the apocalypse. This book picks up right where 2 left us.

I am happy to report that the ladies finally have a say in the plot. Hammer gets a lot of stuff done even when she’s injured. Sally plays a big role in how the plot unfolds back home for Zombie Island. Sarah still wants Mo, though Mo is still an idiot for not seeing it. Mo’s brother (Easy) has a fiance, Aka. She’s from Zambia and is an engineer of sorts. For some reason, Aka never gets to talk. Instead, we always hear from other characters about how Aka did this or said that. So, yes, the ladies could use a little more page time, but we are much closer to gender equality, which I’m sure Mo would applaud.

Speaking of Mo, yes, he’s still being used by the story to poke fun at racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Whatever hangup you can think of, Mo probably has it. His commentary on gun rights often has me snort laughing.

Let’s chat about the zombies (a.k.a. peevies). I think they are evolving, and so does the doc. He’s been running experiments and gathering data. Also, people have spotted peevies in family groups, and a few making the two-backed beast! Ugh! Zombie sex! yuck! But, overall, I like this aspect to the story. What could happen next? A war with the peevies? Will they start driving cars and demanding takeout?

Oh, and that doc. He has friends! Specially trained warriors from India. This was awesome. I totally wasn’t expecting it and it’s a cool little plot twist that changes the game, especially for those idiots thinking they can just stroll into Zombie Island and take things over. ha!

As with Book 2, Book 3 leaves us on a cliff hanger. I’m really looking forward to Salzman completing his narration of the next book. 4.75/5 stars.

The Narration: S. W. Salzman has really got that Alabama accent down now. Mo sure does sound like a redneck! Salzman continues his great narration with distinct voices for all the characters and his female voices are feminine. I especially liked his Morgan Freeman voice for the janitor Tychus. The pacing was perfect and there were no technical issues with this recording. 5/5 stars.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Life returns to normal on Guntersville Island - sorta.

Mo still lives on the Viva Ancora, a genuine replica pirate ship. The rest of the islanders were settling into life on the island. Jobs, food, entertainment, sex (for some, others not so much). There was still much to do, but they were getting there. The peevies (P.V. - plague victim) better known as zombies or feces-flinging naked blue cannibals were always a problem, but not so much on the island. They hadn't remembered how to swim yet, but then some of the islanders were poor dog-paddlers themselves. But this is not the place for idyllic island life. There are other groups of survivors who have heard of the wonderful, easy island life and wanted it for themselves. And if they couldn't have it, then it just needs to be destroyed so no-one can have it!

The author's slightly cockeyed humor pervades the storyline often in the exchanges between the protagonists. The characters, the humor and the storyline combine to propel this novel, this story over the top! Excellent reading, twisty turny storyline, a laugh of two on every page. What more could you ask for? All in all, this is a great read and I'm looking forward to book 4!

This series covers everything and so much more beware you must act and thing as a real southern redneck or as the legends describe rednecks.
I am writing this and waiting in book 7 to be released it adventures of MO and his band of humans after a virus is released and turn people into zombies not your normal zombies but they are blue, constantly hungry and erect cock. Now as the story goes on you find these zombies are changing and growing, they getting faster, groups are nesting with a queen who does nothing but get bred and have more zombies. Now for the remnants of human they are not doing to well they keep killing each other by accident or as food source. Killing for food is a minster who came to town and started killing the children of the members of his flock and they are stupid enough not question him when he feeds them and they do not know they are eating their own children they have taken the minster at his word and blind faith.
There is so many plots, storylines and adventures you need to either read or listen to them so remember your are A Southern Redneck no education or brains trying to survive the blue zombies who wants to eat you.

THIS SERIES GETS BETTER WITH EACH BOOK THAT IS PUBLISHED. JAVAN BONDS ROCKS!!!!!

This series is seriously getting better with each book that Javan Bonds writes and I see no sign of it stopping anytime soon. Mo, Smokes & Hammer fly to try to find Mo's brother, but it won't be as easy as the group thinks. They have to go through some pretty crazy people to make it even close to Easy (Earl) and that is just the beginning of their journey. Back home on the island, things go from bad to worse when old grudges come into the mix, as people want what they have, unfortunately some of the bad people know who is on the island and what they want done with them. What a funny, great, super book, as it makes you smile as your hopjng the bad guys get taken down with a smile on your face. This is such a great book and I can honestly say I can't wait for #4 to be ready to read as this is one book and series that I will recommend to everyone I can. Keep up the good work Mr. Bonds and please keep the books coming.

Still Alive is one of those series that gets better with each installment. Zombies on a Plane is a fantastic listen, it's entertaining, witty, funny, and packed zombie-killing action. The characters are fulfilling their roles as per the Book of Smoke and screenwriter's will. Mo, Smoke, and Hammer take off on a plane to Birmingham, AL, to find Ezekiel (Easy), Mo's overachieving perfect brother. Their adventure is an exciting one, facing-off with new antagonists. At the home front, the rest of the crew encounter challenges as the traitor's scheme with a different group of antagonists.

S.W. Salzman is incredibly talented and a true voice actor; I can't imagine anyone else narrating the series. My favorite parts of the series are Mo's inner thoughts, dialogue, and the interaction between the characters. They are absolutely hilarious, and it's impossible not to laugh out loud. I've read and listened to many zompoc books, and have to say, Javan Bonds's Still Alive series is the funniest. I definitely recommend this audiobook!

The Author uses cuss words much more liberally than he did in his previous books. To make it worse he has added in some graphic sexual situations that simply did not need to be so very graphic. He balances this all out though with better Character development and depth. He has expanded his world (setting) and added in a few more characters. His Story telling has gotten better, and deeper. The Author has gotten much better at telling a story where several things happen at the same time in different locations, making the story more interesting. I cant help but feel that I am watching a budding new author who is learning as he goes along. Each book is better than the one before and although i dont care for the cuss words or the graphic sexual situations, the story telling is extremely good. The story its self holds my interest and I should point out that while this may seem like a bad review, i purchased the next book in this series the very second i finished reading this book. I honestly cant wait to find out what happens to these characters and how this all ends for each of them.

A humorous romp through the zombie apocalypse

This series is a humorousrump through a zombie apocalypse. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Mo is an odd character. He is surviving in a zombie apocalypse that is a tad different than most you might think of. When someone is bitten they will eventually turn a blue color strip naked and have violent diarrhea as they run around biting other people and eating animals and everything else they can get hold of. For the most part so far they only come out at night or come and get you and dark or dim places. Moe and his group of survivors seem to be following a screenplay of a zombie apocalypse is almost every expected turn arises and every expected character shows up. They even have a character that is a prophet that predicts certain things coming and outcomes. No don’t get me wrong there is violence and death and characters do die. Even some characters you might like. Yet think Shaun of the dead or zombie land and you will get the point. Read on and enjoy.

But not as hilarious as the first two..... no, that’s not a complaint. I look foolish laughing my ass off when I’m by myself.
I LOVE THIS SERIES! Can’t even tell you how much! Javan is a genius writer.
Mo, Smokes & Hammer fly off to save Easy. Yep! They are on a mother f’ing plane!
There’s a prison, lots of explosions, a zombie change (they walk in the light now) and so much more. Our hero finally gets the love interest. (My terminology makes sense if you’ve read any of these books & if you haven’t then why the hell not?) Get to reading already because we could all use the laughs these books provide!
Narration was excellent!

Okay, so I may have to turn in my nerd card after this book. Lol, I probably only got around three quarters of the references, and I feel like I need a glossary for Easter eggs! Super funny and lots of dick jokes, for the win! I feel like the author of this series is my spirit animal, guiding my inner 12 yr old to excellence. As with the previous books, Salzman is a first class voice actor who can switch from a dumb redneck to a cultured middle easterner with ease, and made this book even better.

Oh…My…God! If you love the ‘Island’ you have really ought to listen to it. S.W. Salzman does a fantastic job. He really puts you into the book. Oh, this is about the book. Well it is a great continuation to the story (or screenplay) of Mo’s life. The characters are hilarious and you can just imagine their faces and riding along. It is a tale of survival, future building, and love. Love that is, if you can express yourself. The world is changing, everything changes. Read, Listen, Experiencee

Serious page turner

Mo and Smokes are at it again. This time they get to get out for a bit only to be put in another super fun situation. Zombies on a plane had me biting my nails! I could not stop reading! Still funny as ever and maybe even more gory than the last book(is that even possible?). The story line gets better and better and I'm on the edge to find out what's going to happen next! Thank you for the read.

Mo and company are still alive, and I guess you could almost say thriving. Mo, Smokes and Hammer set off to go find Mo's brother Easy and bring him "home" to the island. Will they find Easy? Who is planning to take control of the island? Will they succeed or will Mo and company win the battle for the island? What's going on with the peevees? Why and how are they changing? Is the Oracle still right in what he says? Read this and find out what's up on Zombies on a Plane

Another great one

I Mr Bonds sense of humor and writing skills. He has two wonderful gifts. The third in the series of Still Alive and they seem to get funnier and more outrageous each time. Can not wait to read the next. Going to save his brother from prison Moe and friends experience and see some outrageous sites. You have to read it to find out just what.

The more I listen to this series the more I love it! Bonds delivers an awesome zombie tale worn comedy as a relief. Being played out as a movie script that only one character knows and he ain't telling! Salzman makes all the characters come alive!!!!! Love his interpretation of Smokes my favorite character! Highly recommend this series!

Changes Are Coming

This series just gets better and better. The action gets more exciting. The characters endure more. The villains are just as evil. And the Peevies keep evolving. The only bad thing is that I have to wait for book four. Fingers crossed it's soon.

I love this series

These characters are so much fun to read. I enjoy the way they go thru the Apocolypse as though being directed in a play. Although only the 'Oracle' seems to get the occasional peek at the script. I can't wait to get the next one.

Horror with a twist. The books in this series are so much fun & they keep getting better, I didn’t think that could be possible. The main characters are brave, tough, and stand strong. Another well written book by the author, Javan Bonds. I highly recommend it.

The story It’s better with each book. There is more action, more Comedy, and the storyline keeps on going. The plane trip a different twist to the story.

This audiobook has corse language and some violence. Something which I think people would expect in a zombie book.

Again the narrator has done a great job and giving each character the individual voices, making them recognisable.
