This is a slim self-published volume of short fiction and narrative nonfiction written by authors local to the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts. The pieces range from realistic narratives often ending in a dark or thought-provoking twists to more fantastical sci-fi contributions. Given the title and the place-based cover art, I was anticipating that more of the stories would have a discernible local setting, but only one was distinctly regional, and all had a broader universal appeal. Less than fifty pages, this book can be read in one sitting.
