I can't remember a time when I didn't have a book in my hands. As a child I used to hide them under the bedclothes and many a night I'd fall asleep mid-chapter, waking only when the book slipped from my grasp.

As an avid reader I'd always promised myself I'd write a book yet I had no idea if I'd be able to do it. When I read a book that I'm invested in then I'll read the beginning before skipping to the end to make sure it ends how I want it to. If it does, then I'll go back and read the middle - strange, I know! So I figured I'd do the same thing when writing; craft the beginning and the end but struggle to write the middle, yet, a few years ago I surprised myself. I sat down and wrote my first full length novel and now I've hit my forties, I haven't looked back. I've actually written a total of three novels now although 'When Foundations Crumble' is the first one to be published. I'm thoroughly enjoying my writing journey and consider myself fortunate to be able to do what I love.

When I'm not writing I'm a mum to two wonderful boys (they paid me to say that) and wife to an even more wonderful husband (yeah, he paid too). I love cats, cricket and chocolate (all the c's) and live in the (not so) sunny climes of the UK.

This was our book club book for January. AnnMarie is a local independent author, so I wasn't at all sure what to expect. It certainly isn't the sort of book I would normally pick up. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a real page turner, with lots of clever twists to the plot. A good, easy read that will leave you wondering...

The tagline of AnnMarie Wyncoll’s novel, When Foundations Crumble, is an intriguing one: ‘How far would you go if the one person you loved was the one person you couldn’t trust?’, and it perfectly sets up troubled Cal and naïve Lexie’s passionate, complicated and ultimately destructive relationship.

When Foundations Crumble is a meaty, character-driven novel, cleverly held together by a framework of Cal and Lexie’s stories woven between Cal’s therapy sessions. This was an effective way of telling the story, allowing the novel to keep its pace, hinting at what was to come and keeping me intrigued and turning the page.

Well written, intriguing characters, the focus firmly on the relationships, the steamy scenes steamy and well crafted – for a genre I don’t read much of, I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed it and invested in the characters’ lives. Sometimes I agreed with their actions, sometimes I didn’t, sometimes I wanted to shake them, give them a hug, a talking to… that was the beauty of this book, it read like real lives were being played out – albeit lives full of drama, romance and passion!

Towards the end of the book I was hoping for a bit more to be revealed about a couple of the supporting characters but in many ways that’s actually a positive and not a negative because overall I was left wanting to know more about the characters, their past and where their stories will take them next – a good job another two books are in the pipeline!

When Foundations Crumble is an emotionally-charged and epic read for lovers of romance.

Wow, how do I even begin on this one? This book from the get go had me hooked and I didn't want to put it down...I was so frustrated with the reality of work interrupting!!! This is one of the best books I have read and I cannot wait to see what the next one by this author brings.
This is the story of Cal, Lexi and their coming together and being torn apart. It starts with with their meeting and falling in love. From their darkest secrets to lies and deception you will get caught up in their story and ride the emotional roller coaster with them. Zach, Jae and Tami all play major roles as well and as they are weaved into the story you find yourself more drawn in. AnnMarie's writing is amazing, I am shocked this is her first novel...I hope she continues on to become one of the big leagues . The characters are well written and you feel the emotions as you continue on through the book, and the ending, well damn I am sad to say it leaves questions and wide open to lots of possiblities....looks like the reader has to wait until its published (PLEASE SOON)....I know I want to see what happens next. So happy I won this book in a goodreads giveaway thank you!!!

Well, I couldn't put it down as I was completely gripped by this compelling piece of fiction. Cal and Lexi come from apposing backgrounds one privileged and the other desperate poverty. They are captivated by one another, but both have skeletons in the cupboard and this unfolds as there lives become entwined. Tragedy, pain and heartache cements them together... But could this be their undoing. Real edge of the seat stuff. Brilliant first novel
