The BL elements of the first volume was pretty thin, but that's mostly because pacing. In the sequel--in passing, iHertz manga almost never does the 上下 thing, do they? It's usually the title and an additional word to indicate it's a sequel, but back to the actual review! In the sequel we have gotten over some major obstacles in Sugimoto and Senoo's psyches, which is not to say they're over it but like, they're slowly moving forward and healing from it, so we have more space to focus on their actual relationship.
A few people mentioned vagueness in their review of the first volume and I think that's very fitting because Senoo has an avoidant kind of personality (who will make jokes instead of facing things head on), while Sugimoto just... doesn't share. Senoo even says this in the first volume, 'I don't know much about Sugimon at all'. There's a lot of vagueness because they're dancing around issues, especially their feelings for each other, and sometimes makes an assumption on how clear they're being.
We follow Sugimoto's pov so we know how he feels but
I thought it's a nice and quiet and gentle story about two young men settling into society and looking for places that fits well. Also this volume is easier to read than the first one.
After all the build up from volume 1, the two of them have developed some feelings for each other, but is it friendship? Companionship? Or love?

The solution is cherish the present, live in the moment, and not worry too much about tomorrow.
