If you are into crystals or even crystal curious this gorgeous book should be part of your collection!
This book is divided into two parts. The first part provides a brief introduction to the history and thought behind how crystals work, ways and rituals to incorporate them into your life and home, crystals for specific occasions, as well as cleansing and charging. If you work with the chakras there’s a detailed ritual for the chakras including both the front and back body. I’ve yet to come across another source that has this much information in one location.
The second part includes 50 crystals selected by the author for their availability and lower price point but by no means are these crystals in any way of lesser value than pricier options. Each crystal is given a two page spread so when the book is laid flat there’s a stunning, full-page photograph of the crystal on one side and a highly detailed description of the crystal on the next. The crystal descriptions are easy to read with a heading including the name and uses of the crystal. The description then begins with a brief bulleted snippet that covers color variations, where the crystal is found, chakra correspondence, care (if it fades in sunlight), and water cleansing (whether or not the crystal can get wet). Then the “Magic” section details the properties and use of each crystal, followed by a “Notes” section that includes helpful information such as corresponding zodiac and birth month and other names the crystal is known by.
The book has an attractive modern aesthetic that perfectly complements the beauty of the crystals. I found this book incredibly useful and a beautiful addition to my collection.
I totally LOVE the pictures #aestethicvibes 😍 There are full descriptions of many crystals, full of interesting info ♥ I'll keep it as a handy manual for the ones I'd like to find/buy, I think it's my favorite one at the moment 😊
Honestly, a beautifully laid out book; I purchased my own copy after checking one out at the library. I use crystals and observe others using them, as death workers, and in cleansing spaces as well. 10/10 would recommend considering how crystals can add to your well-being.
An enjoyable book to peruse. Lovely organization and pacing of thoughts and, later, the rocks, with full page colour photos of everything you want to see about the topics. I'm guessing the author is British or Canadian judging by the writing, so that just adds a bit of quaintness as a cherry on top. I'm looking forward to finding more gems like this one.
Favourite Quotes:
"Everything within and surrounding you at this very moment was born from stardust."
"Crystals... can't help but infuse the spaces - and people - around them with a powerful combination of vibrational balancing, colour healing, and talismanic magic."
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." ~ Nikola Tesla
Beautiful photos, has just enough information to be useful without turning into a metaphysical essay. No shade intended towards the venerable Book of Stones. This take is very modernized, the tone is kept light and obviously aimed at the younger millennial / older Gen Z crowd.
My favorite part: the handy little table at the beginning of each crystal chapter that mentions if you can wet it with water or not! This is the kind of important info we need at a glance. I can't count how many times I have had to do a quick web search for a list of friable crystals. Good reference for casual browsing and eye candy.
Received this beautiful book as a Christmas present and I absolutely love it. The graphic design and the photography are stunning and right up my alley. The subject matter is one I've been delving into since mid-2017 and I'm excited to say this book is such a great source of information but shared in a light and loving way. Perhaps what I love most about crystals is that it can be a completely different experience and energy for everyone and this book highlights that beautifully. Go with your gut. Go with your energy flow.
Over the past several months, I have completely fallen in love with crystals and their healing energies. When I was book browsing several weeks ago, this stunning cover caught my eye.
The inside holds even more beauty between the photographs, color palette, and overall design. But like crystals, there is more than just beauty to this book. It is informational and offers great ideas on how to use your crystals.
The best part of this book is the specimen pages; the format is easy to navigate and straight to the point. I’ll definitely be picking this up for reference in the future!
I was able to learn which crystals suited best at the time I was searching, especially because purchasing crystals can be overwhelming. Not only that but the book introduces you to other minerals, how they differ, various crystal meditations, details on crystal cleanses and everything else you might need to know before venturing into the world of crystal healing. A great introduction for beginners & a beautiful book to receive. I do wish there were more images included.
Had no idea who the author was, apparently Yulia Van Doren is pretty famous.
Short, sweet, highly informative in both the practical and metaphysical sense encased in a beautifully pleasing series of photographs. I wish this were a coffee table book, I would display it proudly.
A lovely little book with the most common crystals. My favourite part about it is that it states whether you can watercleanse your crystals or not. A lot of books talk about it, but don't actually tell you whether you can watercleanse certain crystals or not!
Stunning photographs and design. Yulia makes crystal magic approachable and practical for daily life. This will undoubtedly become my go-to guide. Now I just want ALL the crystals ✨
Very informative and educational! A perfect guide to those who know nothing (like myself) or close to nothing about crystal healing. A great quick start to your crystal healing journey.
So one of my friends got me this book and also a bird watching book along with a gardening book that I am really enjoying. I should be able to post about those soonish once I get this done. Anyway, my one friend is really into crystals, growing plants to dry so she can make teas and other things with them along with growing tons of food/plants to make meals with. When I was a kid I loved crystals, but didn't really get a chance to study them too much because growing up in a religious household, anything that even smacked of "dark magic/Satanism" I wasn't allowed to do.
This book is really cool because it gives you a breakdown of the crystals, the color, where they can be found, and what types of chakras they are supposed to be placed on (if you are into that). Also it even gives you a little check box to let you know if you can cleanse them by water.
The book delves into minerals, versus crystals, versus rocks, gemstones, etc. The differences between polished vs. raw and how crystals are supposed to work.
From there it gets into how to find the crystals listed (FYI, I got mine at a local store nearby my house and so far I have now gotten amazonite, amber, amethyst, ametite, apophyllite, aura quartz, azurite, bloodstone, emerald, garnet, rose quartz, and fool's gold).
How to cleanse crystals (via moonlight, water, sunlight, breathe, etc.)
And even into what crystals are good for parts of your house (FYI, I have clear quartz sitting on my window sill in my kitchen right now).
All in all, a really cool coffee table book (it fits in your hand) and something for those of your friends and family that are into crystals.
Absolutely loved this book! I've really been wanting to get into crystals and spiritual energy a lot more, and while I do already own some, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to get a grasp on everything. Therefore, this book was exactly what I needed. Straightforward, but with plenty of information, it captivated my attention the whole way through. I took notes on my laptop since this was lent to me by a friend, but I will definitely be going back in the future and referencing them to help me through my journey. It was evident as well that the author has a passion and love for crystals, as the book exuded a warmth and energy that made me feel very comforted. For anyone who wants to start researching and/or getting into this, I would highly suggest this book!
I like how there's so many descriptions about the symbols, origins, and colors of 50 'affordable' crystals. I love how the book starts off with explaining chakras, how to charge the crystals, how the crystals generally work, and what's the difference between polished vs raw, and minerals vs rocks, gemstones etc. It's so beginner friendly!
I give this a 4/5. The photographs are pretty, but they could have been so much better if the crystals took up more of the full frame instead of just a couple of inches in some shots. There are also too many distracting props, like random vine leaves, in several pictures. If the pictures focused entirely on the crystals with large and detailed closeups, I would have given it a full 5/5.
This book is good. It has details of how to cleanse and charge your crystals. Also what crystals are suitable for each room in your home and a list of crystals and the relevant gifts these wild be suitable for. There are also details on the chakras. Plus an appendix of crystals with photos and information. What I particularly liked about this book is that the information included whether the Crystal was safe to cleanse in water or not. Plus a care guide which tells you whether sunlight wild damage the Crystal or if it's for example too intense for the bedroom. I really liked this book aesthetically too the photos are gorgeous.
3 stars for a good, introductory guide to crystals, their uses, cleansing, care tips, and origins for each crystal. I thought it was hilarious that the guide was like "oh yeah well there are lots of disparate meanings assigned to each crystal from every source, just go to the one that calls to you". I think that makes sense, but it's sad that it's not a bit more consistent? I would think there are many layers of cultures and traditions that could be passed on here, but it's all gotten lost amid the noise.
Interesting introduction for me to the world of healing crystals. Some of the magic descriptions seemed kind of vague, but I appreciate that the basics of chakras, energizing, and uses were explained. I have saved the crystals that I think would be most relevant for me! Very approachable way of writing. I’ve always liked and have collected some crystals so this is cool to attach some meaning and spirituality to them.
*4 stars* A concise book about crystals, their properties, healing capabilities, and general facts about each stone. You can readily find all this information on the internet, but the book is fully equipped with large photos of each crystal and moves in an easily digestible alphabetical order.
I found so much to love about this handy reference for most crystals. This book is a great guide for beginners to the world of crystal healing as well as for people who need a book that lists crystals, their uses and their properties. I really liked that she made mention of which crystals should not be water charged. Nice book.
Loved this book - I will be keeping this to constantly refer back to! Beautiful pictures with easy to read descriptions of what certain crystals do and are used for, a great start for any beginners!
i mean there’s not really much to say about this one besides the fact that i use it all the time and it’s such a good tool for all us witchy babes and also it saved me from putting my selenite in water cause i used to be dumb but this book has made me less dumb <3
Great little basic book about crystals & chakras. It makes a good resource book that I can refer to again and again. If you are interested in this subject, I highly recommend the book. Great for beginners, but also fun for more advanced students of any age.
Really terrific for a beginner like me: informative without being overwhelming, with lots of great photos. I wish there was a better index, one that listed keywords or something, instead of just the names of the crystals, which are alphabetical in the book anyway.
Beautiful easy to follow reference book and mini introduction to crystals, crystal grids and using them for your home and your pets. I loved the ‘trust fund’ crystal grid idea - trust in your divine plan and the flow and miracles will come
