"Be careless in your dress if you must, but keep a tidy soul." - Mark Twain
Do you often feel like you're drowning in your to-do lists, or becoming overwhelmed by the number of possessions you own? Tidying presents opportunities, to not only transform the spaces around us, but also to free the mind of daily stresses. This inspirational book simplifies the art of tidying, and reveals the benefits you will experience from getting yourself in order. Negative thoughts can hold us back from living the life we want to lead; consumed with worry, we often seek comfort in surrounding ourselves with stuff. Clean up your act, rid yourself of mental clutter, and gain control through motivating quotes, practical tips, and simple exercises. The Little Book of Tidiness will teach you how to make the most of less.
I loved this little book. I picked it up at my favorite shop in Cambria, California called Ocean Heir. The shop is a mix of clothing and gifts and I always find something there. This book, “the little book of Tidiness”, caught my eye as being calming and it was. The subtitle is “declutter your life” written in lower case which just seemed appropriate. The cover is a calming gray and is about half the size of a regular book. There is also a pale pink ribbon bookmark. Inside are quotes and suggestions on how to be tidy. A wonderful book to slowly read through. I was on vacation and it was the perfect read as I sat on the balcony of our hotel room in San Luis Obispo overlooking the homes and hills nearby. This is published in the UK by Quadrille and there are several more in the series I would like read such as “the little book of Mindfulness” and “the little book of Quiet”.
Definitely not a "How To" book. More like a book with little inspirations using quotations that may or may not have anything actually to do with tidiness. It still works with the whole tidy-mindset, but I feel like some of the quotes were taken out of context so it could be put in this book. Not much else to say about this since it is such a small book except that if it does falls into your hands, don't read it all at once because you'll finish it all in under an hour. Best to savor it over time and get a burst of tidy-inspo every day.
This is a nice little book full off quotes and little tips to keep a tidy home and a tidy mind the book is a little pocket sized edition to add to my book shelf the bits I liked most was that it explains how the modern Japanese have a specific interest in the neat and tidy with the Japanese word Wa meaning harmony this book emphasizes the importance of not only physical tidiness but also mental and spiritual tidiness

I like this book. It’s small with a lot of wisdom. Some of it is practical while the others need more time to be absorbed. I read this book in between my short trip. A proper fit time to read and get some insights. Thought that strucked me with is about the difference between clean and being organized.
This book was mostly filled with one liners that were supposed to motivate and inspire you to be more tidy. I'm obviously motivated to tidy enough to pick up a book about it. There isn't a lot of practical advice for the logistics or even the psychology of tidying or decluttering. It barely touched on overcomsumption.
