Connie and Rosie had many things in common; their love and devotion for their children, their never empty coffee cups, watching tear jerker chick flicks, and eating large quantities of their favorite foods together. Oh; and they shared something else...gaining weight on a daily basis.
Time passed for Connie in a blur of hurtful barbs about her ever-expanding waistline from her critical husband and diva teenage daughter. Feeling like she deserved the shameful treatment from her perfect, athletic family, Connie lived each day catering to them; suffering in silence until the day she found the love note tucked in her husband's jacket.
My interest in writing started in the third grade, when I wrote a play consisting of around four little pages. Four of my classmates became the characters, and the entire event lasted three minutes, but when everybody applauded, I was hooked. Fast forward to adulthood, and working, marriage, motherhood, and becoming a grandmother led to putting writing on the back burner. I've decided that it's now or never, so I slowly finished my first novel, and it has finally been published. My creative juices are now in full gear, so I'm happily starting novel number two.
A friend brought this namesake author to my attention. This is a story of a marriage filled with broken promises, ruined trust and emotional insecurity. The result is a damaged family. There were times when I wondered if mom Connie, who was struggling to move forward, would be able to. It took a few encounters with the truth before reality did resonate with her, that change can be painful, but so is being stuck. The author laid out the storyline well, giving her protagonist time to accept the truth, and cutting her some slack. Fat Chance, a story of a troubled marriage, an insecure mom and her journey forward will resonate with women of all ages.
A mother finds self esteem and happiness after leaving her mentally abusive husband with the help of her lifelong friend and business partner, Rosie. They both discover real friends will be there for each other through bad times and good times.
