Si haguéssim de dir quin és el bestiari contemporani més destacat de les lletres catalanes, aquest seria sense dubte El Bestiari (1937) del poeta Pere Quart, il·lustrat per Xavier Nogués. El poeta veu d’un dels gèneres de tradició medieval més reconegut per fer una sàtira del món que ens envolta a partir del seu enginy descrivint la nostra fauna. Perquè en paraules del propi poeta cal tenir present que “la natura, diligent, ens procura una bèstia per a cada molèstia”.
