Almost every civilization believed in immortal beings and worshiped them as gods. Little did we know, our ancestors were right…

Darcie Abernathy leads an unusual life. At seventeen, she spent the past two years living abroad while her father studied ancient cultures throughout the Mediterranean. Monotonous days filled with dusty libraries made her count the days until she returned to Maine.

Finally back at her childhood home, Darcie is eager to reconnect with friends and prepare for her future. Normalcy ends the moment she runs in to them… The Immortals.

Mistaken as the soulmate of an immortal, Darcie is taken from her home and thrown into a world of intrigue and rebellion. Forced to remain under the protection of her abductors or risk being killed by their enemies, Darcie learns of mythical beings and centuries old conflicts while the rest of the mortal world is left in the dark.

Immortals may be real, but they are not at all what the ancients described.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you Samantha Britt and YA Buddy Reader's Corner 🖤 for this opportunity.

2.5/5 stars. This was a quick, easy read. Nothing exciting, nothing to keep me hooked. The concept was good, but the writing was just okay-ish.

Darcie lives with her father, who researches ancient history. With a job that required him to travel all over the world, Darcie was mostly homeschooled. When she returns to Maine, she is eager to meet her friends Marie and her brother Kevin, who has been her crush since high school. But her attempt at normal life ends when she runs into the Immortal brothers - Thane, Lome and Des. She is mistaken to be the soulmate of Des by Thane, Lome and all other Immortals, but Des denies that she is The One. Darcie is taken to their home in Greece, where she learns of the life and history of Immortals, their quest for power, and the rebellion which has been building up against the trio. Either, she has to trust her abductors and stay wih them, or question their intentions and risk her life by returning home.

Thoughts

(*) The writing wasn't great. Maybe it's the mistake of the ebook or something, but the writing was incredibly plain. It sounded too childish, but that improved as the book progressed. And there were also some grammar errors in the beginning. The repeated use of 'the teenager', 'the young girl', 'the petite blond', to refer to the characters made for an uncomfortable read. All the time, I was like, "Yeah, there comes the brunette" or "Uh-huh, she's still a teenager". Honestly, it was unappealing. The lack of mastery in the use of pronouns and nouns is depicted clearly. Here's an example -
"The young woman tilted her head and used her dark, round eyes to observe Darcie" Now imagine 'the young woman' in every other sentence, while she's still there. You get my point?

(*) The concept for the story was imaginative. Even if controversial, the idea of Immortals seemed interesting. But I think, it could have been a bit more developed, like making an entire universe, instead of just another species would've worked better or something. I don't know, it's just a thought.

(*)The plot lacked substance. There wasn't much happening in the story. I was oddly reminded of The Twilight Saga, and Dark Promise while reading the book (both were well-written compared to this one btw). The plot was eerily similar. Paranormal beings, an awkward teen, a (possible) love traingle, abduction, attempt at murder, saved at the last moment - all felt the same.

(*)The charcaters. The characters aren't all that well-developed, but I can see that might happen in the next book. Also, even if Darcie might not have been the best of heriones, I loved the way the author used her charcater to answer the reader's questions. Like, a moment we would be reading something and a doubt pops to mind, we'd find Darcie asking the same. It made her more relateable and interesting.

Overall this book wasn't anything extraordinary, a bit confusing at times and I might just pick up the next book, MIGHT.

☆☆☆☆ ~ 4/5 stars

I did really like this book. It flowed, it was easy to read and was written well. To be honest though, the storyline was really predictable, Darcie was very naive, maybe a little too fragile... I'm not quite sure how to put it.... There were a few things I'd have changed but overall it was a decent read. I am going to continue the series. I'd like to see if it plays out how I think it is (like I said, very predictable 😋). I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick young adult fantasy with a hint of romance 😊😊

I was given a free copy of Enlightened by Samantha Britt in exchange for an honest review.

Enlightened was a relatively quick read about a normal teenage girl who had to deal with a mythical situation.

I liked Darcie. She was sweet, and I honestly enjoyed her desire to return home. She actually had an alright home life, and I appreciated her wanting to keep it, even if I found her resistance to being with Des annoying at times.

On Des: I hope we understand more about him in the next book. Even with the explanation Bella gave, he remained mysterious for me. I can tell Darcie is his “One” and I hope they admit it soon.

I though the mythology in this book was very original, and that the idea of a pantheon of immortals was cool. I’ve seen similar concepts, but nothing quite like this.

A couple issues:

1. The words “the teenager” and “the young woman” were repeated many, many times. Please just say “Darcie” or “she”. It got to a point where I was going to scream if it was said one more time.

2. I wish that, while this was pretty fast-paced, more had happened. There were definitely events, but I felt like there was a lot of sitting around at the house.

Overall, I liked Enlightened. It was interesting and original, and I look forward to seeing what happens in book two. 4 stars.

Thank you Samantha Britt for the opportunity to read your book. This was an interesting read. The characters were great. I started to like Darcie more as the story went on. She was a great heroine. I hope there will be more development in her character, so she can be one of my favourite heroines as the series goes on. The story was confusing to me at times, but it did get better after 25% of the way through. Also, I thought there were moments where there was nothing happening. The writing could have been better. The ending was good, but it could have been better in my opinion. I can't wait to see what the series has in store, and I can't wait for book 2. Overall, a great read.

I have received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review. Thank you Samantha Britt and YA Buddy reader’s corner for the opportunity.

Enlightened is story of a girl named Darcie and a bunch of immortals. Darcie is an ordinary girl who lives with her father, have a best and only friend Marie and a childhood crush, Marie’s older brother Kevin. One fine day she gets to know that she is being considered as soulmate of one of the immortals, Des, by his brothers and other immortals but Des doesn’t believe she is the one. The whole story revolves around this plot till the end.

I enjoyed reading this book. All the conversations of Darcie with Kevin and Des were sweet. I was really hoping her to become Des’ soulmate and at the same time I was curious about her relationship with Kevin. She can either have a normal and lovely life with Kevin and Marie or a thrilling life with Des and other immortals which I think she’ll enjoy.

Story has some similarities with The Vampire Diaries series like tempering with the memory of humans and existence of originals but as TVD is one of my favorites so I didn’t really mind it. But there was nothing special happening in this book. "She is Des' soulmate; she is not Des' soulmate" it becomes a vicious circle and become boring after a point of time. Hence i would say, it was as an average read. Hope next part to be a bit more interesting.

Actual Rating: 3.5 stars

I had a blast while reading this. My favorite aspect of this book was the main character, Darcie. She was a badass main character that never lost focus on what was important to her, which was getting back to her normal life. She was smart and made decisions that I would have made myself. She embodied what a normal teenager would do in similar situations.

I removed a star because there was nothing really happening in this book. The writing style was okay but there were instances where the author told the readers the situations happening rather than showing us.

Overall, it was a fun and quick read. It's definitely one of my favorites this year and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book.

Having finished this novel I'm honestly not really sure how I feel about it. The characters and the plot were both fine, but it wasn't really my kind of book. I didn't really find myself connecting with the main character (Darcie), a home-schooled girl who has completed the equivalent of high school way away with her father on a business trip in Greece for a few years, who has never been in a relationship (or been kissed), doesn't go out, spends her days in the library and has essentially taken over the house when it comes to food, bills and cleaning because her father is always too invested in his work. The story seemed to do a lot of explanation on the characters and their relationships and yet somehow still didn't really tell you anything about them or their experiences. So much of it I felt was unfinished or needed more and I felt the writing style was just a bit young for my taste. It also reminded me of the Twilight series a lot in places, which isn't something I really enjoyed.

There was a lot of repetition in this novel regarding the relationship between and how . I just found it to be personally a bit too much. While I did like the characters of Bella and Akos (Des' dog), and enjoyed the myth and legend behind the characters, I didn't really connect with this story or (most of) the characters and as a result didn't have as good of a time with this book as I would have otherwise.

It IS probably a book that teenage girls would enjoy however, and honestly if the synopsis sounds interesting go for it. It's not a bad book it just wasn't something that I personally enjoyed or connected with. At this stage I'm uncertain if I wish to continue with the series.

Ok so this was a very good concept, different with a old feel. Very creative. I feel like Des is just in ultimate denial as is Darcie.
Darcie is pretty much the epitome of ms goodie two shoes. She was home schooled, actually wants to go to college instead of taking a break like her father suggests. She has never been kissed, no boyfriends, doesn't go out, spends her Saturdays in the library, did I mention that she is 17??
In comes the brothers, Two of the brothers swear she is Des's soulmate, Des doesn't feel like she is. I believe that is because he just doesn't want to lose another one, he had to deal with 4 other soulmates dying how jacked up is that.
Now the rest of the immortals, or Arid in particular feel like the brothers are too powerful and it's not fair. So he plans on using Darcie to force the brothers to give up their position, he fails and Des and the brothers were able to get Darcie out. Des and Darcie share a ridiculously powerful kiss and then they let her go home...and...then...that...is ...it...
I understand there are cliffhangers I just feel like this was a book cut in half. Not anticipation, just a blunt cut in the story.
I would read the next one, though.

I love Darcie. She is everything I look for in a mc. The girl is smart and strong and questions everything. She's not going to just sit back and accept what others tell her, even if they are gods. Darcie is thrust into an unfair situation and handles it like a boss. And the fact that she does not believe in instalove was just the icing on the cake. The best part though was that ending. The decision she made just...

Serious messaging issues

while I appreciate this author's Curse of the Draekon series, I find book one of the Immortal Chronicles to be severely wanting. A character who should have some maturity from her life situation instead bumbles through it like an idiot. She ends up kidnapped so she can be protected and initialed a token resistance to escape before blindly falling in line. Oh there is language saying she's resisting, but whenever one of her captors says she should do something she obeys without question.

Lets not ignore the misogyny in the book either. Bella, a 600+ year old woman gets called a girl constantly but all the males are men. And of course Darcie has to be protected and only the men know what's best for her; their wives agree because that's what they are supposed to do. The women in the story are either lovely, protected delicate creatures who are useless outside of traditional female pursuits or gorgeous reducers who are evil and petty enough to kill anyone who supposedly threatens their love affairs. But the men are strong, handsome protectors who are busy working and if course, deciding what the women should do without consulting them. Seriously? What an unhealthy view of women and me!

The heroine comes across as vapid and mindlessly obedient. I get she is 17 but seriously, grow a pair. Guess she doesn't need to because she's pretty and did want mind being treated like a fool that gets out in a shelf to keep her safe. For a supposedly intelligent woman she's got the brains of an ant.

The world building was shallow and heavy handed. The author should have just structured this off of the Greek pantheon instead of trying to couch it in other terms that end up translating to the Greek pantheon. Further, the heroine's constant repetition of what she's told, asking for definitions of terms like immortal and clairvoyant make her seem like an idiot and practically shove world building down the readers throat. It's awkward and really not necessary. If someone reading doesn't know those terms, then they can look them up instead of making the MC look like she's 5.

After reading this book and the first two books of the Draekon series, I am sending the author has some skewed views of women. In both stories, the main character is ridiculously naive and passive, needing frequent rescuing. there is very little fire in Darcie, though I see more in the MC of the Draekon series, thank god. And apparently women should be beautiful but not experienced in the ways of romance so their much older and experienced make love interests can teach them without being threatened. what would we do if these females weren't blushing every other page at comments or actions while being hopelessly oblivious to their own staggering beauty and it's affect on the men around them?

I obviously won't be reading any more books of this series. The messaging around women and femininity is appalling (to me) and I just can't get passed it. For those not bothered by the messaging, you may enjoy this book; but for anyone wanting a truly strong female MC, skip.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way effects the integrity of my review. Thanks to Samantha Britt for the opportunity to read and review the book :)

Fave quote: “Darcie found herself entangled in a web of immortal history and destiny, and she could not see a way out.”

Enlightened follows the young and intelligent Darcie as she is mistaken by powerful beings as the soulmate of an Immortal. But as the book progresses the questions remain: Is Darcie Des' soulmate? And will she be entangled in the affair of Immortals forever?

Darcie as a main character was great. She dealt with the upheaval of her life by Immortal beings rather well; she wasn't annoying or weepy about it and I liked her strength and wilfulness in that sense.

The plot of the book was utterly fantastic! It wasn't fast-paced, instead it was almost calm and ethereal—kind of like a rolling wave. Usually that would bore me but the calming pace suited the contents of the book rather well and the unexpected twists and turns of the many chapters kept me interested until the very end.

One aspect I enjoyed very much was the elaborate history of the immortal characters in the book. It added depth and authenticity to the book.

Another aspect I liked was the romance. The relationship between Des and Darcie progresses slowly but I liked it that way. The romance seemed sweet, delicate even.

All in all, a great read and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy, mythological or romance novels.

This is a really interesting beginning for this series. It feels like a fated mates situation but then you have the male denying it all. Quite vehemently, too. This is my second read. I remember being horribly annoyed with Darcie my first time. Not feeling that now. I really love the world building that Ms Britt had done here. We don't get the brothers' entire back story, but what we do get is very intriguing. Des is a very tragic character, so have some compassion on him.

I received a copy of this book from the author, Samantha Britt, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Samantha, for the opportunity to read another one of your books.

3.5/5 stars

Enlightened is a different & intriguing story. It is the first of (I believe) four novels in the “Immortal Chronicles” series being released this year. This YA story focuses on one main female character, who we learn is mistakenly swept up into the world of the “Immortals”. Who they are & what roll she plays draws the readers in. While often slow, I did find that the unanswered questions and the continuous mystery was enough to pull me along for the ride.

(Minor plot spoilers:) Darcie, our protagonist, is an introverted straight-laced teenage girl who spent a good portion of her recent life being homeschooled abroad by her history professor father, who was on sabbatical. During a routine Saturday visit to the library back home in Maine, she unknowingly meets her first immortal, Thane. She runs into him again with his brother, Des, while at a club with her good friend, Marie. After overhearing an unusual discussion between the brothers, Darcie decides to leave early. She is attacked in the parking lot & wakes up in the Greek home of the immortal brothers. She is confusingly discussed as the “One” & is ultimately sent back home, after it is decided it was a mistake. Her memory was wiped & she has no recollection of what occurred. She is attacked again, however, & is brought back to their home. This time the three brothers feel her safety is too much of a risk & will not let her return home. Her time in Greece answers many of the questions, including her possible tie to one of the brothers & why she’s being attacked. Despite all the comforts being provided to her, Darcie wants to go home to her dad, Marie & her developing relationship with Kevin, Marie’s brother. Des, who is the brother denying her connection, makes a deal with her to go back, but she finds herself accidentally swept into enemy hands. In the end though, Darcie convinces the brothers to let her go, which is where this first story ends… physically in Kevin’s arms but mentally with Des.

Overall, I found this first book to be an easy read. There was not much to the plot - most of it felt like a set up for the rest of the series. I’m glad I have book two to begin right away. The concept of the Immortals is different, which I like. Darcie, the brothers & their wives are likable characters. Darcie’s time at the brother’s mansion was slow, but we do gain background on many of the characters & their world. I’m very interested in seeing where her new relationship with Kevin is going, if she does actually have a connection with Des (& the fallout of the love triangle that could ensue) & if or when the immortal world will come crashing back in on her front door. I look forward to reading Ensnared next.

This book IS the One!

So, I took my time with this one because I genuinely loved the story. Overall I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys supernatural romances. For more details continue reading my review, if you hate spoilers stop now.

Initial set up was a bit slow, but it eventually built up. As with all books in a series, the first has to set up the “world building” and the author did a very nice job with giving enough info with out killing the reader with too much details. The idea of immortals having the “One” be the source of their power is a very unique plot point. This sets the tone of the entire book, and it was very entertaining to read.

The main character Darcie was someone I enjoyed followed along. I felt she had a realistic approach to the situations given to her. I myself like much more experienced characters, and typically avoid teen based plots, but she did not seem like a stereotype that would of put me off. She was naturally afraid of what was going on, and I was glad she wasn’t built unrealistic by being suddenly brave in every situation. This character is a young girl, asked to be the wife of someone literally for an eternity. I think she was betrayed very well given that premise.

The male leads were very unique. Des, I initially was worried about in the first few chapters. When they mentioned “The One” I initially thought, oh lord...is this a “true love” situation. Puke. BUT NO! It isn’t! :D. You have to keep reading to get why he is upset about all this. Being “the one” is not just a romantic stereotype in this book. It is about a guy who has had his better half dangled before his eyes for centuries. That’s such a tragic story, and I wish I would of known more about it sooner. I do think the author made the right call placing that realization where it was at, given the pace of the story. It’s more hindsight that makes me wish I knew it earlier.

Overall, I loved the story. I want the next one, and the next one...haha. I would recommend this for teens and young adults who have interest in romance with a modern edge to them. I wouldn’t compare this with Twilight, because I hate that book series, but I would say that this is how something in that genre should have been written. I can’t really identify something that would be on par with this book, because it is so fricking unique. Check it out and be prepared to want the next one.

Darcie has spent two years being homeschooled while living with her single father abroad as he studied ancient Mediterranean cultures. Now 17 years old, she lives in her hometown in Maine and spends her days with her best friend Marie. Her biggest struggles are trying to convince her father to allow her to attend college early so that she can further her education, and maybe landing a date with her Marie's older brother Kevin. However, she meets a strange man named Thane at the library and meets his jaw-dropping brother Des when she sneaks into a club. Soon, her world is turned upside down, as she exits the boring life of Darcie and enters the world of the immortals.

This book was so unique. It had perfect pacing for me, and I finished the 200 pages in about 1.5 hours. I loved the character, Darcie, as she wasn't the simple "damsel in distress" or "clueless girl thrown into a magical world" but instead is a clever, witty, and strong-willed young lady. She can be stubborn, as is usual for this type of story, but she never was stubborn enough to put herself into unnecessary danger in order to "prove someone wrong". I loved the immortal characters, however I only learned the true backstory of 1 character within the whole book. Since this is a series, I anticipate learning more about the other characters in the next few books.

Altogether, I really enjoyed this book, and I recommend this to anyone looking for a compelling new YA fantasy.

I don't know what I think about this book. And this doesn't happen to me often.

Darcie is a very likeable character. But she doesn't seem like a teenager at all. And there were parts of the book where her name was used in every second sentence. The love interest? First few chapters were jumping from one to another. When we finally settled, he disappeared for a few chapters and reappeared totally different person. The house situation and the difference between 2 other couples - genius [loving Bella and Eshe].

The reading was fast and enjoyable. That is after the first 30% when all that got through my head was 'too many words' or 'repetitive'. But I read the book in 2 bus rides. And had fun reading it.

The story itself had some great moments. I wanted to know the initial mystery and had dozens of guesses - all of them wrong. But the scene in the library and the book about shifters, dad character/interactions that didn't add anything. You hear a lot how young adult books should have the parents present. But how believable is a parent that is a professor that stops the kid from going to the university. We can cry trauma but if that is true wouldn't 'I am going for a run/disappearing for a night' cause issues?

Over all the dominant feeling is confusion...

Enlightened is a lovely book written by Samantha Britt. It focuses on Darcie Abernathy and her discovery of a whole new world. Darcie has a very good head on her shoulder and seems to take this adventure good heartedly but does reach her limits. I have to admit I would have probably reacted differently from her and embraced this new world more than she did. She seemed apprehensive to it, which seemed odd since her dad is a historian so she grew up learning about the world these immortals grew up in. The plot is definitely intriguing and kept me reading on. I am curious where this story will take Darcie and her new friends.

Probably my biggest issue is leaving it at a cliff hanger since I really want to know what happens next. The book has an ending, but lets face it, in all reality it does not and I really want to know where it goes. Thankfully it appears the next one in this series is out in another month or so, so my curiosity can get some answers then, and yes I will definitely read the next one!

I found Samantha Britt’s Enlightened to be very intriguing, and very addicting. In fact, I read it from start to finish all in one day. The characters were well developed and the world Darcie finds herself pulled into perfectly mysterious. Told she’s Des’s “One” by his brothers, while being refused as the “One” by Des himself, Darcie finds herself trapped in a brewing war between immortals seeking more power and the three brother standing in their way. And I have to say it made for a good read trying to figure everything out. Are the brothers the good guys or are they secretly the bad guys? Do they really have the world’s best interest at heart or are they actually seeking out more power for themselves? And then there’s trying to figure out Des. Does he really believe Darcie isn’t his “One” or is there some other reason he keeps denying it? Darcie denies it too, despite the underlining chemistry between them and instead shifts her attention to the boy she’s been crushing on for years who’s now showing an interest. But I think there’s more to Des and Darcie’s story and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two to see how it’s going to play out.

I have received the book free from the We ♥ YA Books! group and/or the author in exchange for a honest review.

I have loved all of the other novels ive read by Samantha Britt; and i was not disappointed with Enlightened.

The story follows Darcie, who is craving a normal life in her not so normal routine. However, she gets caught up in the affairs of immortals, which is almost never a good thing. Darcie gets sucked into events that she had no business being apart of and surrounded by the constant question of who can and cant she trust?

All the characters in Enlightened are unique and likable, well, most of them at least. The character development was done really well, which is not a surprise given the experiences ive had reading Britt's books before.

I honestly cant pick between Kevin or Des; i dont know who i want Darcie to develop things with! Although if im being completely honest, id love to see Darcie and Des recognize their bond.
I did like both of them as characters, even though Des had some serious attitude problems, i can understand why, given his background.

All in all, i loved Enlightened!

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only.)

At seventeen, Darcie has spent the last two years of her life living abroad while her father studied ancient histories. When she finally returns to her childhood home, she is eager to reconnect with her friends, but then she meets the Immortals. When she is mistaken as a soulmate of an immortal, she is attacked and forced to stay with her abductors.

This book really reminded me of The Mephisto Covenant (The Redemption of Ajax) by Trinity Faegan, which was definitely a good sign because I loved that book!

The writing style drew me in and it was easy to understand and digest the world building! I would actually continue the series if I had the rest of the books! I would definitely recommend this for new fantasy readers since the story was easy to digest and really interesting. The characters were really appealing as well.

**I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Absolutely loved Enlightened - a fantasy story with mystery, danger, intrigue and hint of romance.

The author captured Darcie and Des's connection beautifully. Their connection builds and intensifies - you could sense their bond pulling them together despite their resistance.

Des came across abrupt and rude but the backstory to why he's so closed off broke my heart. He's been denied of his One for far too long and now fate is giving him another chance. Will his denial/rejection of Darcie push her away into the arms of her crush Kevin? Will Des lose his chance to love and be loved? It's a shame Des's POV wasn't included - I wanted to know how he felt about Darcie and whether he was affected by their connection.

This was an intriguing read with likeable characters and a plot that will leave you wanting more. I was literally gutted when the story finished. Samantha Britt has truly outdone herself and I eagerly look forward to reading the next book.

Enlightened has everything a good fantasy story should: Secrets and intrigue, a life on the line, a hint of romance...
Darcie is a strong character that finds herself in an unbelievable situation, living in a world with beings she never knew existed... and they think she's one of them.
I enjoyed this book immensely, as I do all Samantha Britt's books. The characters are well developed and likable (or hatable, depending on who we're talking about). The world building is imaginative and inspired. It's a whole new take on immortals that I found engaging and highly entertaining.
I like Des and, despite his repeated insistence that Darcie is NOT the reincarnation of his soul mate, I think they belong together- even though Kevin, the boy next door back home, the one she's pined over for years, is finally showing an interest. I am firmly on Team Des and I'm not above hoping something bad happens to Kevin. :)
All in all, great book. I highly recommend!

Promising start of a great series.
At the end of the first book I have so many questions. Darcie reaction to the world of Immortals let me think that she has some kind of connection to it no matter what she and Des say. Secrets after intrigues, Darcie does not try to find her place but she wants someone to hear her voice. However, she bonds with the inhabitants of the House of immortals and might have found a mysterious ally. The attitude of Des keeps sending contradictory signals but with his history we can come up with some hypothesis as why (I’m not spoiling). Her relationship to Mary and Kevin was a link to her normal life before she was thrusted in the feud of powerful beings. It was even nicer to follow how her crush toward her childhood friend evolved.
I was hooked up and I really cannot wait to read the next installment.

Samantha Britt's book, The Immortal's One (Enlighted), is the first book in the Bound to the Immortals (Immortal's Chronicles), a riveting series bound to keep the readers glued to their seats as they wait to see what happens next.

The Immortal's One is story full of drama, angst, turmoil, determination, grit, stubbornness, and loyalty. And when people use the phrase slow burn, they are describing the Immortal's One to a tee.

Ms. Britt uses her words in this book like great soldiers use weapons, with precision and ease, always on the mark. She draws the readers in immediately and keeps them ensnared until the last page is finished.

If readers are fans of paranormal romance, then giving the Immortal's One a is highly recommended. Because, book two, The Immortal's Curse is about to release soon too.

I received this book in exchanged for an honest review. Maybe that’s the reason I feel guilty about my review of it but I have to be honest.

I didn’t like this book. I didn’t like the characters, the language, the storyline, the writing or the ending.
The constant use of Darcie being referred to as “the teenager” or “the girl” was unbearable. Near the end, not a page went by without Darcie being referred to in third person. The writing was bearable but certainly didn’t ensnare me. I laboured through the first chapter, bored already and unfortunately the storyline didn’t get much better. The plot didn’t seem to fit very well as though it was badly planned or not at all planned. The concept had potential but I really just fell flat.

Sadly, I wouldn’t recommended this book to anyone.

This was a one sitting read. It kept me interested throughout the whole book. Secondary characters are just as interesting as the main ones. We were fed the details of the immortals past in bits in pieces. Seeing what each god/goddess was linked to was very interesting. The parts with Des and Darcie near the end were well worth the build up. This would have been a five star but the ending was too quick and what happened just left me confused and unsatisfied. I am hoping this is just leading into the next book and that Darcie will come around. I received a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
