When a prominent but unpopular theatre critic is found murdered at his desk in a peculiarly grotesque fashion, John Steadman, the blind former detective, hardly knows where to start his investigation. But then an elderly spinster meets a similarly bizarre fate, and soon a market trader dies in an equally peculiar way. What links the three murders, and why would the victims be desecrated in such a peculiar manner? And who is out to harm Steadman and his devoted new guide dog? An intriguing new crime thriller from Jake Buchan, author of Blind Pursuit, the first John Steadman mystery.
John 'Jake' Buchan was born in Scotland and moved to Wales in 1981 where he worked as a family and hospital doctor. Married with three grown-up children, he lives in Rhayader with his wife and, until a few years ago, Robbie a retired guide dog. "I have always enjoyed writing and vowed when I had more time, I would write a novel. The idea for a blind detective came from my love of dermatology, the most visual of medical specialities, and my interest in how people cope with adversity, particularly loss of sight. Could you be a blind dermatologist just from listening and asking questions? Could you be a blind detective?... " There are three books featuring DI John Steadman, the blind detective. The first, Blind Pursuit, was published in 2014 and well received. This was followed by Second Sight in 2017 and a third book Double Vision was published in June 2021. Jake Buchan's second book in the John Steadman detective series is at least as good as the first. Can't wait to read the third and, hopefully, subsequent sequels.
