The Y Tree can be used with children in elementary and secondary levels as well. For example, children can collect, organize, and analyze information by recording data in a table and deriving the arithmetic series that determines the number of Ys in the tree. Those in later grades can deduce recursive formulas and apply basic algebra to derive the general solution for the number of Ys in a binary tree.At all levels, readers are introduced to fractal concepts both in mathematics and in nature.
