Harry goes out one late autumn night to collect some items from his friends. His wife Katie does not want him to go out so late, but Harry thinks his work is very important.

Nice illustrations, really really nice ones and the rhymes were quite lovely too. But the story was completely pointless.

This story is okay. It has a nice message about doing something for others and not being afraid of the dark. But I wasn't really impressed with the writing style or the artwork.

Harry the mouse makes a list and goes out on a night that’s “cold and it’s foggy./It’s dark and it’s wet and worst of all boggy!” in this third Harry Mouse picture book for young children and young readers. The same nicely whimsical font accompanies rhythm and rhyme with well-drawn, brightly-colored illustrations. The story draws very comfortably on its spooky theme, offering scary silhouettes in the dark that invite childish guesses before turning the page reveals the truth.
Children will also enjoy trying to guess why Harry’s collecting these strange items. While others remind him not to be scared of the dark, he seems to be planning something all his own “at 8./Don’t tell anyone and please don’t be late!”
So... two lessons in one book. It’s fun and a very pleasingly rhythmic read.

He makes a list of things that he needs from his friends the frog, the bat, and the mole and off he goes into the night. But wait...he sees something in the night blocking his tracks! Is it a spooky creature awaiting him in the night or one of his friends just hiding in the distance? Does he end up getting all the supplies that he needs? Why did he need to supplies anyways? You'll have to read the book to find out. This is actually a great book for children who are scared of the dark and overcoming there fears.

Weird
Really didn't understand the point of this book. It looks like a Halloween/fall story, but its not. Its just weird. Also, the rhythm and rhyme kept disappearing.

Harry the mouse leaves his house late one autumn night to collect an important list of things. His wife is worried about him going out alone in the dark, because he might get a fright. As he visits each friend to borrow items from them they remind him not to be scared of the dark. Once he has everything he needs he uses it to throw a surprise party to say "Thank you!"

The art and rhymes are really cute, fun to look at and fun to say. The vocabulary is very basic, best for the youngest readers, but then the font could be a little challenging for them. The reader will wonder what he is going to do with all those items he is borrowing and the result is really cute, even if I'm not sure what he was saying "Thank you" for. He could have also said thank you to all the friends who let him borrow stuff to further enforce the lesson. It's a good message to remind kids the importance of expressing gratitude and it also teaches them not to be afraid of the dark. So, overall really cute story with good lessons for kids. There is a cute Halloween theme to it with the occasional Jack-O-lantern but it isn't overtly Halloweeny, so kids could enjoy it all autumn and other months as well.

Ohh this is so cute and sweet! Its beautifully illustrated and its just simply a lovely read. Its about Harry The Happy Mouse who goes out of his home and into the dark night outside where he gets frightened by all the shadows he sees. But he soon finds out that they are nothing to worry about as the shadows turn into his friends. The end message is special and so very true. A really good thing to be teaching little kids. I wont give it away, but its good. Ii read the whole book as a song, it was just beautifully written aswell. Such a great book and I cant wait to read the rest of the series. Definitely recommend.

Not best for mobile viewing
It wasn't very good to read on my iPhone. I couldn't see the shadows that scared mouse. It took away from the message - not being able to see the shadow and show that it looks just like his friends up close. I didn't understand the ending either. It just didn't seem to connect well for me. I loved the illustration for the setting, but it is not my preference for the characters.

Beautiful pictures and well told story
Super cute book. This book Albright and beautifully drawn pictures that my 6 year old grand e loved to look at over and over again. The story itself is wonderful and the rhythms are easy and so catchy that she has learned o Dr half the book after 2 times reading it thru. I look forward to reading more books from this Author to her and my other grand daughter.

Harry's Spooky Surprise! is a rhyming story about how Harry plans a surprise for his wife for Halloween. The illustrations are excellent, appealing and fit the text of the story to add to the enjoyment of reading the book. It is a favorite for Halloween because it isn't scary and has a great message that it is important to make the people you care about happy working together with your friends.

Cute, so cute. Harry the mouse goes out to see his friends to borrow some things to throw a tiny party for his wife to say thank you. Such a good message to give kids. I love a book with a message behind it. This book also has a nice autumn feel not too spooky but the pictures were so nice and vibrant and simple.
It was well put together but as cute as this book was I just felt it didn’t get 5 stars I feel like something is missing I can’t tell what but there is. So 4 stars for Harry.

Harry the Mouse is asking his friends to borrow things then invites them to his home later in the week. It is scary walking in the dark to borrow the items. But it all turns out alright.
I enjoyed this story. It is good for the little ones with repetition and good manners. It is not too scary but realistic about what scares Harry.

The Happy Mouse finds a special way to say "Thank You" while overcoming his nervousness and fears of being out after dark. Artwork is good. This is not a 'Halloween' story as much as it is a story set in autumn after dark. I would say young elementary children and older could handle the 'spook' factor.

A sweet child's story with the theme of 'the importance of saying Thank-You' written as a child's Spooky Surprise but not really scary at all, because most parents are hesitant of reading scary stories to children. The most scary thing in this book is seeing one's shadow in the dark. I think Katie, Harry's Mouse Wife is delightful looking.

Fun book that teaches children that things that look spooky may not be as scary as they thought. I liked that most of the text rhymed and that the author added some wonderful illustrations to this delightful read I really think kids will love.

This is a cute story nice for Halloween and autumn. It has nice rhyme and beautiful pictures. If you are looking for a story to read to the family that is not scary this is a good choice.

I read this book to my daughter this morning, showed her the pictures and she really enjoyed it! I liked that the book was repetative in places to give consistency to the story. It has some lovely images and was a delight to read - 5 stars!

Lovely sweet rhyming lesson book to read to children, teaching them to say thank you :)
Rhythm is a bit off, but it's well abovd average.
Illustrations and creative fonts make this a very nice book (although it's not iphone friendly).

Excellent.
Read this book with my little sister and really enjoyed it. I would recommend to anyone wishing to progress with their english. Overall, there is nothing bad about the book apart from maybe the font which is a bit hard to read.
