Another slice of life on the Outer Banks, from the author who took you to PORT STARBIRD!
In this companion short story to the STORM KETCHUM ADVENTURES series of Outer Banks island mysteries, a vacation on an uninhabited islet brings unexpected developments for Ketch and his paramour.
Ketch and Kari just want to get 'away from the things of Man' for a little while, after their harrowing adventure with the Roanoke Island witches in PORT OF REFUGE. But unknown to them, their island refuge may harbor a secret regarding a purported lost treasure from the Carroll A. Deering, the famous Ghost Ship whose captain and crew mysteriously disappeared when the ship ran aground on Diamond Shoals almost a hundred years earlier. Unfortunately, a shady third party is interested in uncovering the secret of the treasure, and the would-be vacationers are drawn into yet another confrontation.
Join amateur sleuth Storm 'Ketch' Ketchum as he experiences the mystery surrounding Dixie Island in the magical Outer Banks of North Carolina, where intrigue always seems to be just around the next corner.
Port Starbird (houseboat). Captain Dan was telling Ketch (59), Kari, & their 2 dogs: Jack (dog), & Chuck (dog), who really didn’t understand a sea faring story.
What ever happened to the Carroll A. Deering (5-masted schooner), Captain Wormell, & 1st.-Mate McLellan?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.
A very awesome book cover, & great font/writing style. A very well written sea faring short story (book). It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great sea faring story movie, or better yet a mini TV series. It was just OK for me so I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.
Thank you for the free Port Starbird NY Press; Author; PDF book Tony Parsons (Washburn)

PORT STARBIRD: A Storm Ketchum Adventure (Storm Ketchum Adventures Book 1) PORT OF REFUGE: A Storm Ketchum Adventure (Storm Ketchum Adventures Book 2) THE PORT FEE: A Storm Ketchum Adventure (Storm Ketchum Adventures Book 3) THE STORM KETCHUM ADVENTURES: Volumes 1 & 2 THE STORM KETCHUM ADVENTURES: Volumes 1-3

This is just a simple short story. Take a ride with Ketch and spend some time with him. Again, learn more about Hatteras sea shore. If you have enjoyed Ketch's other adventures, you'll enjoy riding with him here.
Garrett Dennis has done it again, as he does so often in his Port Starbird series. Dixie Island is a fun tale with tantalizing nuggets of Outer Banks history thrown into the mix. Highly Recommended!
I had just read Cora’s Tree and was less impressed with the short than the full length. Perhaps it’s because I listen to the full length novels that they seem better. But this was equally disappointing for a short, grammatically, that I wonder if it’s given the editorial and proofreading attention the other books get. I couldn’t round up to a three star this time.
Dixie Island: A Storm Ketchum Tale (Storm Ketchum Tales Book 4) is my sixth read from author Garrett Dennis. I've been buying Garrett Dennis books as far back as July of 2014. Now that I've read a Storm Ketchum book I'll be looking to read more & since I own several more that will be no problem. Up next is The Wayward Mariner! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Another great tale about North Carolina's Outer Banks. Treasure hunting makes great stories and this succeeds because a map is not revealed just tales from the past history of ships disappearing in the area. On vacation a home is broken into and revealing a possible burglar is the intent. For those who enjoy a good yarn this is a must read.
Just finished reading another enjoyable adventure story about these likable characters and the ongoing story of their lives. It is like these things surely must have happened, right? Believable, likeable, and I feel connected to them!
